Hi all
I didn't want to hop on a bus because i'm not really aiming for a specific month to have a baby in so i thought i'd start a general "trying to conceive a 2011 baby" and see if anyone wants to join me :D

Sorry going, forgot to say about the whole cervix thing, mine has done the same. I have no idea what it means though.

I have decided that after 26 years, I know nothing about my body Smile

weimy · 23/02/2011 16:24

lol I haven't a clue where mine is, and I am certainly not going down there to have a look!!! :)

sorry about bfns Going & Maybe :( but as the others have said 'it ain't over .....' xxxx

maybebabyR · 23/02/2011 17:54

Haha, I have only discovered mine in the last few weeks Smile

Well, I hope either the fat lady starts singing soon, or I turn into a fat lady (never thought I would ever say that Smile)x

dannid · 23/02/2011 18:46

The cheapy tests that I bought didn't work well either, although the first response and clear blue tests are expensive theyre worth the money considering u can do them even b4 AF is due!!!

dannid · 23/02/2011 18:52

Thanks maybe, all went well as I thought due date is 30th Oct!!! Doctor didn't do much, just blood pressure and then said to book in with midwives. The info pack that she gave me tho does say that I will gave a scan at 12 weeks...don't know what my silly friend was talking about!!

maybebabyR · 23/02/2011 19:02

Ah, so pleased to hear it all went well, so pleased for you xxx

Summerbird73 · 23/02/2011 20:19

nice one dannid i did think you would get a scan at 12/13 weeks, on a sad note - 20 weeks is way too late if anything goes wrong (which of course it wont) Smile

and how the flip do i know where my cervix is? other than rooting around in there i havent a clue (at 38 years old i am Blush )

Hmm
Iwish · 23/02/2011 21:14

lol Summer about your cervix :)

ok so TMI but i ws checking my cervix when ttc and if i put my leg on the toilet seat/bath and put my middle finger in your fanjo kind of to the back but as far up as you can go you should feel a big lump with a hole in it (might not feel like a hole now though if your mucus plug has sealed it up)
If you are intrigued to see what it looks like i found this website. a bit graphic tho.
www.beautifulcervix.com/cervix-photo-galleries/photos-of-cervix/

Sickness hasnt been as bad the last few days - obviously instead of being grateful im just freaked out as to why its not as bad.
Told my boss today too, had to as ive got an appt on friday with a consultant.

big waves to everyone xx

Oceynorm · 23/02/2011 21:20

Summerbird.

In answer to your questions lol - which i dont mind....

I'm 25 this year and my partener is 30

I will finish my uni course in 2013 - only started Sept 10... but was thinking by the time it finishes and ive got a job under my belt i could be getting on to be 30 atleast and my partener 35.... we've both said to each other that it wont give much "breathing space" between each child once we start a family in the future so to start now would be better for us.

We've been together a year, but it's the best thing ever

Summerbird73 · 23/02/2011 21:22

you know what - despite having been there done that, as well as having had first child - i still at your post iwish PMSL, what has happened to me? there was a time i would have been eager to have a scoot around in there... Hmm

i felt like that when PG with DS, was worried when i didnt feel sick, then hated feeling sick, then freaked when it went away. i havent had any bouts since yesterday but am not concerned as i know how icky it is when it hits me like a ton of bricks. mind you my belly swelled up like a beach ball this afternoon, i seem to be ok in the morning but after lunch i go all bloated. need to choose wardrobe carefully!

Summerbird73 · 23/02/2011 21:30

oo hi there oceynorm x posts!

well FWIW i dont think one year together is classed as 'new' so dont worry about that, just think in our parents day they would have been married with another on the way by now! Wink

dont worry too much about your age, i was 36 when i had DS and am PG at 38 now. if you decide to wait until your course has finished you will still only be 27 (which is 11 years younger than me now!)

30 seems to be the average age around here to have first babbas. However i am secretly jealous of my sisters friend who had number 1 at 26 - she has a good 15 years to decide how many more she wants - and by the time she is 40 she wont have childcare to worry about (unlike moi)

if you have been together a year then your parents should see how committed you both are to eachother. good luck Smile

and yes i am a nosey bugger! Grin

Iwish · 23/02/2011 21:33

Leggings Summer. They are a fantastic invention lol!! i live in leggings and dresses so im comfortable. I feel a little more bloated at the end of the day too. Went to my mums yesterday and she said 'youve put on a bit of weight' Charming! could have somethig to do with the 8 ice lollies ive eaten over the last few days. MMMMM nobbly bobbly!

You know i always thought eewww im npt going 'up there' it was only after a few months of ttc thats i finally thought sod it whyever not! wouldnt tell DP ive been checking that though - not even sure he knows what a cervix is lol.

Ochaye Im 25 too, have been with my DP for 10 years - young love lol. I think you have made a good decision to try now rather that having your kids v cose together. I would have loved to try 2 years ago but DP and i only moved in together 2 years ago.

Summerbird73 · 23/02/2011 21:40

i agree - having them young gives you much more flexibility (you could even have 10/12 years difference if you wanted to - my mum did with me and my sis's)

having said that - i have no regrets having my little pickle later on Smile

fragglerocks · 23/02/2011 21:42

Hi ladies, just a quick hello as am off to bed, on early shift tommorow.

Had to comment and say Shock who knew there would be a website called beautifulcervix.com! Brilliant!

Hope you're all well x

Iwish · 23/02/2011 21:48

Summer you are so fab! :)

Fraggle I know. i came accross it when googling 'cervix pictures' lol. i wanted to know what it looked like.
Are you still SWI?

Oceynorm · 23/02/2011 22:13

Thanks Summer & Iwish, you've both put my mind at ease...

I think it would be a shock for my parents because of uni and stuff. not so much his parents as he has an older siblings with children already. but i do also think they would worry at first regarding my uni course.

But like u said summer, we're both committed to each other 100% and it does give us the flexibilty to have a bigger gap or also like i said, a little extra time between having children and not having to worry about young babba's when i want to enjoy my 40s!!!!

maybebabyR · 23/02/2011 22:17

Hi oceynorm, I am in a similar boat to you, I'm in the middle of my PhD and 26, but I think you will find a way to get through it all!

And parents will always come round. I think they always have our best interests at heart x

weimy · 23/02/2011 22:34

I am an OAP at 35 !!!!!

Oceynorm · 23/02/2011 22:38

MaybebabyR

Your right, parents will just have to deal with the situation.

It will happen anyway, just sooner than expected!!

I'm doing my nursing degree so the N.H.S fund maternity leave for 12 months via my monthly bursary payments... so i know i've got that covered.

It's just after i go back baby, study, placements, having a life, maybe even working the odd shift for experience also.

Thing is, i like being busy and i like a challenge.... cant find a challenge bigger than this can u!!! haha

maybebabyR · 24/02/2011 10:26

Ah, that's brilliant about the maternity pay! And you will fine once the baby comes along and you need to go back to work. Where there is a will there's a way!

I sound more like my mum every day Hmm

And you are positively not geriatric weimy Smile

Summerbird73 · 24/02/2011 12:33

oceynorm that maternity situation brings a whole new slant to it - so does that mean you take a break from your studies for a year and get paid? - brilliant! Grin

weimy you can butt out - 'I' am the pensioner at 38 - fancy a game of bingo? Wink

iwish get away with you and your fanjo websites Hmm

waves to everyone!

btw - have been up since 5am with vomiting baby, he is at home with his daddy but it was v worrying as his temp went right over 100 Sad

fragglerocks · 24/02/2011 19:11

summer hope your little man is ok Sad

Hi to all the new people I haven't already said hi to!!

I feel very excited this month, don't know why! SWI still going! I will be testing on 14th March if no AF, it seems soooooo far away!! Bloody stupid long cycles! If it doesn't happen for us this month then we have one more month to try and then we will have to start a 2012 baby thread!!!

Iwish · 24/02/2011 21:35

summer I hope your little one is ok? Are you ok too?

fraggle carry on being a sex pest and I have my fx for you :)

Big waves to everyone else :)

Well I was a lite worried that my sickness started to disappear. It's come back! DP took the bag out of the bin which to my super powered nose smelt discusting. For someone who has a strange phobia of being sick it wasn't good, my stomach was a little sore from heaving and had to sit in the bathroom for 5 minutes just in case. Luckily I wasn't actually sick. Then 20 mins ago I was up there again getting quite upset about being scared about being sick. I just keep reminding myself I like the symptoms.
Sorry about that essay!

Oceynorm · 24/02/2011 22:57

Yes if i take a gap year in my studies i still get my bursary payments from the N.H.S - it's to keep you on your course, like an insentive!

weimy · 27/02/2011 20:49
