Ahoy Gin Hags, behold the Hendrick?s Palais, the finest sea goin? vessel that ever left these God forsaken shores. Packed with comely wenches and salty seamen, I be lookin? for a BESHly crew to travel the seas in search of booty. Land lubbers lackin? a twisted disposition need not apply.

Let me shiver yer minges with tales of the fearsome Droid Monster, who raises his bloody head each month, and the dreaded 2WOOFL, where the vaguest signs can be espied from the top o? the Crow?s Nest.

Get ye to the Brig, yer scurvy dogs, where Roger the Cabin Boy will see to yer needs, or apply the Cat O? Nine tails to yer britches if ye should mutter the oaths of Babydust.

Drink up me hearties, yo ho(es).

lyra I got a 46 euro bill for calling the out-of-hours emergency services when I had mine. Hmm

LadyGoneGaga · 01/10/2010 10:26

Yes it is rather romantic, Lyra. His Mum was blarting on my shoulder at the weekend going "MrG is so happy now, I can tell in his voice. All I ever wanted is for my boys to be happy". Bless her, both in tears. She also said on another occasion in a whispery fashion "MrG has never loved anyone the way he loved you". Which I know is true. (MrG not a big talker by the way so I have to get this stuff from what his Mum says!) I do heart his family. Why she doesn't hate me I don't know since I broke his heart when he was but a young 'un and came back into his life brandishing some other man's child (who she is also lovely to).

rocketleaf · 01/10/2010 10:27

'brandishing some other mans child" :o

owlshoes · 01/10/2010 10:33

LadyG I recommend writing your feelings about their shitty letter on the shitty letter itself and posting it back to them. This means you get to say what arses they are without the risk of snottering (I did this to the local maternity dept and felt much better about it).

Am also v.chuffed at your lovely romantic MrG story and top marks for MrG's excellent Mum too

BarbiesBeaver · 01/10/2010 10:38

Gaga oh I'm sorry lover. It's probably an automated thing but still rubbish and upsetting to receive. I got my "congratulations!" letter from my FC the day I got home from having my D & C. I hope a phone call to your GP or midwife can prevent any more of those sort of bombshells.

Lyra I got a response form my IVF friend she wanted to be referred to UCLH. She had to attend the first appointment with her designated clinic and request the transfer through them. She had a round of initial bloodtests at the first clinic and had to chase the referring clinic as they were slow iff the mark sending letters and so on. She kept in close communication with both clinics but eventually got her chosen clinic (and got pregnant with twins on her first IVF attempt).

CurlyCasper · 01/10/2010 10:47

sorry about that cunttwattery gaga. As the Goddess Lyra says, it is, unfortunatelty, quite common. On the upside, hurray for your lovely tale about love finally getting there in the end

Just read back and want to say sorry too to barbie. I'm afraid I have no helpful, but please to listen to the wise BESHes and feel the power of the FC-FUs.

Ariesgirl · 01/10/2010 11:03

What a good idea this was . I luffs you all.

LadyG what a massive pile of unnecessary and upsetting arse. I'm so sorry. I second the idea of writing down your letter on the said letter and suggesting they check and update their records occasionally. Bastards. It's not like it was a sudden happening either Angry

MountainHare I'm with you there. Everyone knows someone who has died of cancer. And the suggestion that they didn't "battle" hard enough....well. Another Angry. Sorry - random tangent.

As you were all.

(Bitey I foresee some long and hilarious cat-chat. It will be hilarious for us - everyone else can skim read if they like!)

Ariesgirl · 01/10/2010 11:05

Why didn't my emboldening work? Stooopid MN.

Scorpette · 01/10/2010 11:25

LadyG, they are a bunch of absolute cuntsticks Angry Angry Angry If you'd got that letter the week after the Horribleness, it would be cunty but perhaps unavoidable, but after this long? NO EXCUSE. Defo second writing to them to complain and explaining in no uncertain terms how it made you feel. Bloody arseholes Sad

Am going to introduce myself: Scorpette (of course), 37 - will be 38 four weeks today (same b-day as Lyra). Started TTC July 09 with TYF - 'The Young Fella' - my 9-yrs-younger long-suffering partner and lovefool. Been with the Palais since its first month. Gained dubious honour of Queen of Menkul for initial absurd 2WOOFLing and general anxiety levels. Took 2 months out of sexytimes for colposcopy and then Lap 'n' Dye in April and May. Started acupuncture with my St Needles in April. Was told at the end of Aug that I was too old (and other bullshit) for to receive IVF. 2 weeks later, I won a classic BESH Ironi-Diff, because NO FUCKER tells me I can't do summink Grin Also won doing all the 'supposed' wrong things: just 2 seckses before OV, oral sex, extreme stress (due to the knockback), etc. Spilled the beans in a stealth reveal - am now training the SAS Wink Incomprehensible nausea is helping it all seem real Hmm Oh, and I already have 2 daughters: Clothilda, the used sanitary towel girl and Cthuluella (Luella), mummy's special little terrifying death-squid angel.

RunLyraRun · 01/10/2010 11:27

Rocket/Barbie - thanks. When I emailed gynae she said she would be happy to refer me anywhere I wanted to go, but it would depend on my PCT - some will let you go to any FC, others have a block contract (obviously cheaper) with a single clinic, and your choice is there or nowhere.

I checked with PCT who confirmed they operate the latter policy, so usually I would have to go to the crappy FC. But fortunately (kind of) they are trying to clear the huge queue of new patients that they created by accidentally paying for existing patients to have 3 rounds instead of 1. To do this they are contracting a private provider, so we have the choice of going with them (CARE Manchester), and I'm happy with that :).

Still fully expect them to pull funding before I get there though .

Lyra reading some encouraging results of DHEA use on fertility friends website here

OP posts:
RunLyraRun · 01/10/2010 12:12

Thank you BB, that is all very encouraging, isn't it. Magic beans, hurray! I'm going to take it - certainly sounds like it can't hurt. Have you been advised of a particular brand/dosage?

Ivegotmrbitey · 01/10/2010 12:23

LadyG that's really bad and if you feel like letting off steam I would def. write them a stinking letter on the same paper. I might even send it too.

Ariesgirl stand by for hilarity when poor kitten recovers, I think he will have lost his sense of humour today!

As it now officially friday night, who would like a gin?

Medee · 01/10/2010 12:29

Medee, 34 in three weeks, and currently 16weeks+6 pregnant. Came off the pill in June 2009 (after 10 years on it), and had wonky cycles for most of the next year (51 days being a heart-breakingly hopeful record). Used CBFM to start monitoring and it seemed to settle into something sensible. In true BESH style, won my baybee the day before my dildocam appointment to investigate for possible PCOS, and had earliest scan known to womankind of the tiniest bunch of cells. No PCOS. My husband is MrM, from the convention from another forum I post on.

Sorry to hear about the letter PokerFace - I?m not sure I understand how it can happen. Other than my scan invite, nobody has written to me about being pregnant, so it can?t be as if they are churning out loads of these letters and a quick human being check would be impossible.

BarbiesBeaver · 01/10/2010 12:55

RunLovelyRun I got mine from biovea.com and was told by my clinic to take 75mg daily. Peak of DHEA is after 4 months - hence why I have to wait until then. Cost me about £30? Consultant appointment is end of November, but have been looking at Lister Clinic in London - the prices of private IVF clinics are pretty horrifying aren't they?

OP posts:
starnosemole · 01/10/2010 13:23

qu'est-ce say DHEA? Am asking on behalf of all passers by who may venture this way and it could be the answer to all their desires, not because i is nosy. Although I am.
skiplyraskip (oooh, can foresee a whole bunch of things Lyra can be ordered requested to do) Morning i mean afternoon. Glad to hear that their immense cock up could actually benefit you..i likes a happy ending..
ladyhorsey sorry about scummy letter. jealous of mother-in-law who interprets man moods, could do with one of them.

BarbiesBeaver · 01/10/2010 13:29

I had a poor response to my fertility drugs and had an AMH test done on the NHS StarryStarryMole. It checks your ovarian reserve. I had a very low result and was recommended to try DHEA (a supplement) for 4 months before retrying the tests/treatment.

Limited studies have shown it can improve egg quality, egg quantity and reduce miscarriage rates. NB. Very limited studies done so far and the researchers are being low key about it as there are side effects and the long term implications are not known. They have recommended that people only use it on advice of their consultant, but of course anyone is free to buy it.

OP posts:
starnosemole · 01/10/2010 14:01

Thanks sindymerkin, I did see about your test results, Sad, am mightily gutted for you, and have everything, even those little bones in your ear that look like a hammer, crossed that this will help. Had never heard of DHEA, seems to have a very impressive CV, will off and google.

milanomum · 01/10/2010 14:26

Gagwoman Is your MIL a 'man whisperer'? She could probably make loadsofcash and become vey vey famous for that excellent talent. Can't believe that letter bisnuss. just fucking outrageous - sue their big, thoughtless asses, that's what I say.

I too am very impressed with BESHies success rates

Ariesgirl · 01/10/2010 14:48

I'm ill :( Sneezing, sinuses, headache, hurty throat, sore neck etc. Apart from the odd hangover headache, I'm never ill. Sympaffy please.

A "man whisperer"? Interesting concept.

BarbiesBeaver · 01/10/2010 15:19

Poor Aries there there. Have some chicken broth and a tankard of rum with lucozade, then pop yourself into bed. I'll dim the lights and check on you later to see if you want a good feffing anything.

OP posts:
RunLyraRun · 01/10/2010 15:54

Rie - it's a cold, HTFU Shock.

BB - thanks for website, will have a look. Yes, IVF is shockingly expensive. Clinics up here say they are £3k but it works out at £5.5k with the drugs and stuff. Are you looking at ARGC too? At least in London you are paying for something that might actually work, the success rates are about double :)

BarbiesBeaver · 01/10/2010 15:58

Yes looking at ARGC and Lister, not sure if ARGC will accept me with my poor hormone levels. I'm in the Westcountry so will mean travelling up there but it's worth it for the results they show. Think ARGC is about £10k a round all in!

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 01/10/2010 15:58

It's not a cold! I'm DYING I tell you!!!

This is genuine question. Do they the charge VAT on top of the already-very-expensive private IVF or is it inclusive?

BarbiesBeaver · 01/10/2010 16:06

Shit, I forgot I was supposed to be hard ....Arrr Aries get ye to the mizzenmast and splice the mainbrace ye snivellin' cur! They'll be no quarter given to lazy dogs on this vessel!
