Ahoy Gin Hags, behold the Hendrick?s Palais, the finest sea goin? vessel that ever left these God forsaken shores. Packed with comely wenches and salty seamen, I be lookin? for a BESHly crew to travel the seas in search of booty. Land lubbers lackin? a twisted disposition need not apply.

Let me shiver yer minges with tales of the fearsome Droid Monster, who raises his bloody head each month, and the dreaded 2WOOFL, where the vaguest signs can be espied from the top o? the Crow?s Nest.

Get ye to the Brig, yer scurvy dogs, where Roger the Cabin Boy will see to yer needs, or apply the Cat O? Nine tails to yer britches if ye should mutter the oaths of Babydust.

Drink up me hearties, yo ho(es).

barbie I'm sorry to hear that. But heartened by the fact you won't give up. Good on yer!

Grapefruit juice is the work of the devil & does nothing except make you heave. Nasty, evil stuff.

Boo to droids - evil little fucker.

Am no use to man nor beast in helping with pant snot / ov / egg laying. Tis prolly why I took 3 long fecking years to get diffed. I swear my ovaries just thought "for the love of God" & wandered to the edge of my fango whistling to the manfat.

Work is boring. I want my holiday - NOW!

cinco am LOVING the rum & ginger cake, ta muchly, x

Muser · 29/09/2010 15:49

BarbiesBeaver fucksticks. I am so sorry it wasn't better news. However, I have found good stuff about DHEA, is some info here from the US about it being excellent at rejuvenating ovarian function. www.centerforhumanreprod.com/premature_ovaries.html#benefits and also this article about DHEA: humrep.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2006/09/22/humrep.del254.full.pdf In which the results bit says: RESULTS:
Paired analysis of IVF cycle outcomes in 25 patients, who underwent cycles both before and after DHEA supplementation,
demonstrated significant increases in fertilized oocytes (P < 0.001), normal day 3 embryos (P = 0.001), embryos
transferred (P = 0.005) and average embryo scores per oocyte (P < 0.001) after DHEA treatment. CONCLUSION:
This study confirms the previously reported beneficial effects of DHEA supplementation on ovarian function in
women with diminished ovarian reserve.

Which I think means good things. I will certainly be hoping for good things.

PerfectDromedary · 29/09/2010 15:56

Barbie So sorry to hear your news. I can only imagine how devastated you must be feeling. Am v impressed with your bravery and PMA.

Cass mentioned the book that used to belong to me that has been doing the BESH rounds - you might want to PM her and ask for that. Is very woo, but somehow terribly comforting.

Were you planning on NHS or private IVF? If you can afford it, I imagine a private IVF place will still treat you - the AMH is, as far as I know, a predictor of how many eggs you have left and it could only take one good one for IVF to work. There have been some really interesting things going on with DHEA and if you're having proper medical stuff, that might really help.

Scorpette · 29/09/2010 16:11

BB, the AMH news sucks massive shitty donkeydicks in hell Sad However, I know 2 things which might help a little bit:

DHEA works very quickly; it's not one of those supplement things that takes months to kick in. I had some years ago to help support adrenal function and it's quick to take effect. I also know that acupuncture can work - my Needles Lady was always telling me to get an AMH test as soon as poss, as, if the levels were low, she could get cracking on the super-special needling. I know that all Zita West-trained needlers, blessings be upon them all, learn specific things to deal with AMH, as ZW herself was one of the first experts to identify it as a big issue and work on treating it. She also sells a high quality DHA with Omega 3 blend supplement, if you're having to buy your DHEA yourself. All is not lost yet, my treasure, but it must have been a horrible, freaky-out shock. Please be very gentle with yourself and cocoon yourself lovingly.

LadyGoneGaga · 29/09/2010 16:42

Glad you're well Scorps (or not so well but you know what I mean). It is a bit of a rough feel for a few months but will ease soon and then all be worth it in end. Is a good sign you feel bad, I felt suspiciously too good with the last one. Don't feel you can't moan if you need to as is part of you and if you don't I worry and am forced to go and lurk in deli (to check you still alive) which is no place for me at all at moment - but cheers for sensitivity.

RunLyraRun · 29/09/2010 17:22

I am Not Here but had to pop in to stroke BB's hair and give her a non-erotic, non-violent cuddle. I know that sounds like shit and shocking news, it's bound to knock you sideways, but:

  1. Friends of DH have just had first round of IVF, at the FC I have been referred to (the one with appalling success rates). She was told her AMH was LOW, but she was allowed to proceed. She is now 14 weeks :).
  1. The results posted by Muse are amaze - I am actually tempted to start taking DHEA myself on the back of that info. Has anyone else taken it?

Lovely to see you Scorps, I miss you. Sorry you are feeling rough. Deli is like another world to me, I always feel an imposter when lurking there so don't do it much, so please keep posting here too if you can - although appreciate you might not have the energy. A month to our birthday!

Ariesgirl · 29/09/2010 17:37

Sorry to hear your crappy news BB. I can't imagine how you're feeling :(. But there seems to be a fair bit of knowledge and research being posted by the lovely BESHlets which indicate that all may not be lost and things can be done to help. Have a cuddle xxxx Look after yourselves

Truffkin · 29/09/2010 17:43

Barbie so sorry it wasn't the news you wanted but I'm massively impressed with the way you are handling it and glad Mr Beaver is there to look after you. My friend has been taking DHEA for about 6 weeks and has to go back for another test at 9 weeks as they expect to see a difference so it seems to take effect quickly, as Scorps testified. Here's a large gin to help with the shittiness.

LadyG it is indeed a BBT thermometer that came in it's very own pink box with a little book of charts for me to draw pictures in plot temp graphs.

I'm on FF now as well, although my little chart looks all forlorn with only one temp entered in! I have the iphone app so can menkul on the go as well, the wonders of technology!

Hooter sorry for droid and for early droid at that. Little cunt got me in similar circs at the weekend, but as I have droned on about may have mentioned, it disappeared after 24 hours. Actually, for the sake of completeness I should add that I had some light flow on Monday, spotting on Tuesday and pretty much nothing yesterday. Even after shagtastic action last night, nada. My body is mocking me and I have no idea what is going on Blush

Scorps am so glad you are feeling rough, which I mean in the very nicest possible way, YKWIM Grin

Cinco thanks for cake, I feel like getting drunk so could I please have another slice?

BarbiesBeaver · 29/09/2010 17:46

Thanks you lovely BESHes. Will retreat to lick my wounds for a bit but we are trying to keep our options open. Have ordered my DHEA so will be guzzling it, and we will wait to see what the consultant says. CamelBumps I have a sneaky feeling this may be a get out clause so that they can refuse to give us any more treatment on the NHS (as we fill all the other criteria). Poor response to stimulation (fnarr) would be a reason they could get out of giving us IVF/IUI.

Cass I would like the magic book if it's still on offer? Might help me feel I can do stuff. WE also have a lovely friend who has offered us donor eggs and my parents have offered us money to assist (not sure they know how much it costs) so we are lucky in that respect.

Also I'm really fucking lucky to have Mr B. If the trade off is that I have no kids to spend the rest of my life with him, then I'm still in credit in my opinion.

A month to the LyraScorps birthday, everybody! Have you started saving up yet? Grin

Have already started pointing out the date and telling TYF to think about pressies and a card - not because I'm a grasping bitch (although...) but because if I don't, he will be amazed when the day arrives and he has to discover that his immense procrastination doesn't have the ability to stop time Hmm

I'll try to just pop in and not do my usual essays Wink Maybe just run around pretending to tweak everyone's boobs, making honk-honk noises? Is good to feel so wanted I luff you guys !

saltyair · 29/09/2010 18:48

Casserole · 29/09/2010 19:40

rocketleaf · 29/09/2010 19:47

Oh barbie I have just read your news, just wanted to say before I finishes catching up that I am so so so sorry, thats awful. BUT it doesnt seem like there is no hope? in fact my friend was only the other day giving me a pep talk re IVF and told me her cousin had successful IVF with a donor egg. Big massive BESH hug for you and MrB. I wish there was something I could do. :(:(:(

milanomum · 29/09/2010 19:52

BB I don't even know you and you've brought a tear to my eye with that comment about your Mr you are being pretty amazing about the whole thing and I wish you everything it takes to get the treatment you want.

Ariesgirl · 29/09/2010 19:52

By the way BB that's such a lovely thing you wrote about MrB.You're lucky to have each other. I feel that way about mine too. Life with just him would be more that just ok (when he's not being a dick of course Grin)
