Hi I'm new to the conception boards. Is anyone else planning to start ttc in November or december and wants to join me on a new thread?
DS has an appointment at GOSH on 25 November, we are waiting to get that out of the way before ttc number 2!

I am..! TTC #1. I've been thinking about it for quite a while. Came off the pill at the beginning of the year and am hoping everything will be okay. Feel really happy and excited thinking about it.

What's GOSH?

asouthwoldmummy · 18/09/2010 15:37

Great ormond street hospital.
Good luck!

Maybe Dec, more likely Jan given work schedules for DH and myself - we will be in different hemispheres for most of the month! We'll be TTC #1, all very exciting!

Have only just come off the pill so waiting to see how my body reacts - last came off the pill in 2006 for several months and my body bounced back right back at that stage.

Good luck ladies!

PotteringAlong · 19/09/2010 17:49

Going to give it a go from December - injection will run out on the 6th and going to see what happens after that

PotteringAlong · 19/09/2010 17:52

Sorry, pressed post accidently half way through! Meant to also say, will also be #1 and I'm already a little bit excited by the whole thing!

asouthwoldmummy · 19/09/2010 20:22

Welcome ladies!
I got quite excited earlier when I worked out for DS's hospital visit I will be on my break from the pill anyway, so can start trying immediately after that.
Think i am doing DH's head in talking about babies though, it doesn't help that my sister is about to drop!

We are! I was wondering if I should join a TTC thread.... We have a three year old DD and are having my implant out on wednesday...

Can you start imediately or do you have to have a few cycles first?

Good luck everyone!!!

asouthwoldmummy · 19/09/2010 20:35

Sorry I know nothing about implants, but I would assume like the pill it's different for everyone? I'd actually been wondering if I should stop taking the pill soon.
I think the hormones leave your body almost straight away but it could take your body a month or two to adjust to ovulating again. Hope that helps!

OP posts:
mumblecrumble · 19/09/2010 20:41

Not looking forward to hormone changes and wieerd stuff in my body... HOWEVER.. am hoping I'll get the implant out and turn mega skinny. ;)

asouthwoldmummy · 21/09/2010 17:05

Littleone - you said you came off the pill at the beginning of the year. Do you know how long it took you to start ovulating?

OP posts:
mumblecrumble · 25/09/2010 07:44

Implant is out..... let the conceiving begin!!!

asouthwoldmummy · 25/09/2010 10:42

Good luck! 2 months today until I join you!

When I stopped taking the pill, I ovulated 2 weeks later and went straight back into a 28 day cycle. It can leave your system very quickly and your body just take over where it left off.

asouthwoldmummy, I shouldn't talk to you really. I live in Norfolk and therefore we should be sworn enemies. Grin

I have a 3yr old dd and we're thinking about trying again at Christmas. It's been a hard and fraught decision deciding to ttc again. But can't just yet anyway. Having experienced being heavily pg in a heatwave and having a holiday booked for the end of June 2011, I'm avoiding ttc for a couple of months.

thegauntlet · 25/09/2010 17:31

Hi there... can I join?
Mad as it sounds I have a 16week old and we are planning to concieve the next asap. ( but not before the start of december as it will seriously bugger up work!)
I have a coil ( placed at 6 week check) and will be removing it end of november... the problem is that i havent had a period for years ( literally) pg, bf and pcos hummm........... we got pg 1st bonk last time after taking the coil out... pretty unexpected!

I will be still feeding this time, so it probs won't be so easy.. Would love to join this tho.

asouthwoldmummy · 25/09/2010 19:21

Thegauntlet- hello! I don't think you're crazy at all.

A friend of mine conceived when her 2nd was only 3 months. She knew if they waited until he was a bit older he'd be more of a handful and she'd change her mind! Also her oldest was 6 so she wanted a smaller age gap between the younger ones.

I think it's down to personal preference. I would have liked a smaller age gap but too late to worry about it now!

My sister had a tiny baby girl on Monday (4lb 8oz). I'm so broody and finding it hard not to be jealous!

OP posts:
thegauntlet · 02/10/2010 20:00

It is so hard when other people have babies when you are broody! I found it really hard last time. It is really hard when siblings have them too- my sister has a baby 2 weeks younger than mine. It is good- but also annoying! congrats on being an aunty thouggh asouthwoldmum.

So... again, just like last time; I am pretty keen to just hoik out my coil and get going ( the agreed start is December )pretty naughty- but it worked last time!

LittleOne76 · 02/10/2010 20:03

Hi asouthwoldmummy - after the initial break through bleed I got my period after about 35 days and then had a few long cycles ranging from about C45-C55 days. The last 2-3 cycles seem to have regulated a bit more and I get my period around C33 with EWCM appearing about 16 days beforehand. My cycles were a bit all over the place before I started the pill so wasn't sure what to expect after coming off. I just hope I am ovulating..I haven't been taking temperatures so am not sure if they are rising post ovulation. Have just been counting the cycle days and keeping an eye on CM.

I have a dental thing coming up in Nov now which will involve x rays... am waiting to get that out of the way and will go for it afterwards. Dentist said the xrays are relatively weak so if someone was pregnant it should be okay but he said that if it was his wife he'd recommend against it unless absolutely necessary (eg if you had lots of pain/infection/needed something to get fixed as soon as poss).

callista · 03/10/2010 00:02

May I just point out that it is still not November or indeed December so I still can't start TTC.

Grrrr!

Seriously, I feel like this is the longest month ever, and I only stopped taking the pill a few weeks ago. Am fully impatient.

How are you all doing with the waiting?

nannyl · 03/10/2010 08:28

i'll be ttc #1 either in dec or jan, depending on what the due date is (dont want to be due too close to beginning of september)

asouthwoldmummy · 03/10/2010 18:23

Cal - the waiting is driving me mad!

I had to dress my 6 day-old neice this morning (she was cold and sis thought I'd be quicker). I was surprised how naturally it came considering it's been over 2 years since I dressed one that small!

Is it wrong that I want a girl? All my neice's tiny pink things are so cute, although a boy would be much cheaper as we kept nearly everything!

Just think this time next year some of us could have babies! I think I read somewhere the average couple takes 3 months.

I'm hoping to start TTC # 1 after my next period, this is due at the end of the month/beginning next month, so I will be in this group. Keeping my fingers crossed we don't decide to wait another month, I'm going out of my head at the moment, feeling extremely broody/sad/happy/excited/nervous/every other possible emotion you can. Got an appointment at docs on friday to see about the meds I am on already, have no hormonal contraception in me so I don't have that to get out of my system.

asouthwoldmummy · 04/10/2010 16:27

I wish DH would agree to start ttc sooner, I have to start taking the pill again after my break today :(

titferbrains · 04/10/2010 20:18

we've just started trying, it's so tedious waiting for my period. Find myself clutching my boobs all the time to see if they are sore, but nothing's changed. Will keep an eye on this thread, am pretty sure I'm not pg yet!

I've got one DD, she's 2.
