Keziahhopes · 17/03/2011 15:44

Glad you feeling beter Lissy - enjoy Hawaii!!

thanks for all the good wishes, and the necessary reminder of my name Italian - we now have 4 fertilised eggs, day 3 transfer will be sat. So hoping and praying they keep dividing nicely and we can have transfer. Dh took day off work today as hol, so had a nice day - being well looked after, getting the sedation out of me!

Hope all those testing are ok xx

pumpkinjoy · 17/03/2011 15:53

Hello all.

HELP! I caved and tested-BFN. SILLY SILLY! Meant to test monday. 10dpo. Now Sad

Sorry I can't do more individual messages. Feel really low. Will be brighter when message again.

xx

monkeybumsmum · 17/03/2011 17:10

Hello Smile

I'm afraid I haven't had chance to read back through much more than the last page or two, but I wondered if I could join you please? Next week will be the start of the first cycle of IUI for us, so I'm rather nervous, and anxious to hear from others who have been there!

We are already lucky enough to have a gorgeous ds (4), but have been ttc number 2 for 3 years now. In 2008 I had a mc at 8 weeks and a partial molar pregnancy (lost it at 12 weeks), and then last year we lost a baby at 15 weeks. It's been an awful few years. I've been starting to think that it will just never happen, and that it wasn't meant to be, but now I feel a little tiny glimmer of hope that maybe there is something thet can do to help us. I have endometriosis too, so only got pg last time after having a lap.

Pumpkinjoy I don't know your story, but I really hope you do go on to get a BFP v soon Smile

Hello Keziah, lots and lots of luck for saturday, I hope it's successful.

Wishing all of you on here lots of luck x

pumpkinjoy · 17/03/2011 17:58

Welcome monkey -I am doing IUI. It was successful in sep last yr-2nd attempt-first month with progesterone injections (they have found me to have a short luteal phase) but very sadly had a MMC and ERPC on october 29th Sad Sad Afterwards they thought it was a molar pregnancy but further tests at Charing Cross found that not to be the case.

I am now in the 2ww following IUI (our 2nd attempt since) and due to test monday-but I caved and tested this afternoon-10dpo-and got BFN. We have planned if it fails this month we are going to try IUI once more and then IVF-We have reached the top of the NHS waiting list.

IUI is a good first step as it is much less invasive than IVF. I really havn't found it to be too bad-apart from the horrid emotional rollercoaster of course. Are you taking clomid with it or just unmedicated? I had clomid and ovitrelle with this cycle. The best of luck to you. I am happy to answer any questions that you have.

Also Kesiah will be thinking about you and sending all positive vibes for saturday.

xx

shirleycat1 · 17/03/2011 18:01

Hi All,

Pumpkin - don't panic. It's not over yet. Are you sill going to your friends on the weekend? Try to relax - easier said than done I know. Thinking of you xx

Lissy - glad your recovering well. I am sooooo jealous of you and Hawaii - I could do with some vitamin D myself!

Keziah - fingers crossed. Good luck for Saturday - you're nearly on your 2ww.

Nook - you starting tomorrow? How you feeling?

Italian - I know how you feel wanting a sibling for your little one. Don't give up hope. Afraid I can't offer any magic for weight issues, but I hope you can do whatever you need to.

Deliah - how you?

I'm OK. Still no af so clinic appointment on Monday for a scan. I've got a new consultant and her bedside manner could leave a lot to be desired. She said a lot of this and that and basically said my uterus lining is thick, so need to bleed before starting treatment. Have to wait until Monday, if still not af, take inducing drugs again. The wait goes on

Hello to all...

shirleycat1 · 17/03/2011 18:05

Sorry monkey - welcome and good luck...

delilahbelle · 17/03/2011 18:09

Hi all

Got my BFP on Tuesday... but started spotting the same day.
Lines much darker today, but the bleeding is also heavier and redder.

Spoke to the clinic, I have to leave it a week and test again, but I'm not in a good place right now, this is very much like my previous chemical pregnancies.

Was feeling naseaus and tired etc on Tuesday, but that's all gone now.

Life really sucks, especially as this is out last go, and if it doesn't work out (as looks likely) we are going to be childfree, barring a miracle.

monkeybumsmum · 17/03/2011 18:14

Thank you both Smile Pumpkin I'm really sorry to hear about your mmc, it's an awful thing to go through Sad I'm glad it wasn't a molar preg though, having had to wait 6 months to ttc after a partial, it would be awful to have to wait a year.
I will be on medication, but I won't know until next week what it will be. I'm in Belgium so I suppose they must do things slightly differently here, but at the hospital we're going to they are doing a study to compare Clomid and Menopur. I'm going to take part and so will be given one of them - I have a 50% chance of either!
I suppose I'm most nervous about the side effects - have you suffered from any? Have you been taking your Clomid in the evenings? I read that was best?

Also, what happens immediately after IUI? Does it hurt? And, do they advise you to rest at all, or can you just got straight up and go home? Thanks so much for any advice, and I shall be keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you. Btw, with my last pregnancy I tested on what must have been 11DPO, and got a BFN. Hope that helps - there is still hope x

Shirley I hope your af arrives soon x

monkeybumsmum · 17/03/2011 18:16

Delilah X posts, sorry. We haven't met, but you sound like you're going through an awful time Sad I will be thinking of you.

Italiangreyhound · 17/03/2011 20:11

delilahbelle just hang on in there. Do not give up hope. Praying for a miracle.

Hi monkeybumsmum (what a name, you must tell me where that one comes from! I have one dd, aged 6, conceived through IUI (one the second attempt with only one follicle) and have been ttc again since she was 9 months old. That will 6 years this August and we will call it a day then. We are currently waiting for a donor egg, which we hope will arrive in the next two months so it should be all over by the summer hols. After so long I am quite tired of it now! We had a very early miscarriage 5 years ago (unassisted conception). Since then have had many failed IUI attempts and one abandoned IVF and one IVF with donor eggs. I?m overweight so still very keen to shift a bit of weight before we start this final attempt. This message is scarily similar to my first ever mumsnet message, but you said you had not read back far so just a bit of background. Sorry to hear of the various problems in the past. May your time here be short and sweet.

Pumplinjoy thinking of you, honey. Hope you feel better soon.

Shirley hope af appears.

Lissy get well soon.

*Keziah, sending you a big bag of baby dust.

Womanly did you resolve your exercise thing?

Val, Late and Rowing* - hugs.

pumpkinjoy · 17/03/2011 21:26

Hi monkeybumsmum-yes agree with Italian please tell us origin of your MN name. I have only been prescribed clomid-I have always taken it in the morning (100mg CD 2-6) I have also read that taking it in the evening lessens side effects. I don't get side effects when taking it but do a few days later-mainly hot flushes-a bit embarrassing in a work situation and have to slip off to the loo and hide! They only last a few minutes. Day of IUI is fine-I have been advised to drink 500ml 45 mins prior so bladder is nice and full. Afterwards, I lie on the couch for about 20 minutes. It's all very strightforward. Thank you for your words about testing too early. Hopefully this month-I have everything crossed. Have decided not to test until at least sunday evening.....

Hi Shirley-so your consultant is abrupt but are they good? Hope AF arrives over the weekend. yes I am still travelling tomorrow to see my friend. Her first baby is due 10th april as a result of IVF and I am so happy for her and her DH. I went today to buy her some gifts and was dreading entering Mamas and Papas-but it was okay in the end. We are going to have a lovely time-seeing Corrie on stage!! She always cheers me up.

Delilah I'm sorry you're having to go through all this-it really is a horrendous situation to be in. I am thinking of you.

Italian How are you? How does the donor egg process work? I really take inspiration and strength from you-TTC 6 years? I wish you so much luck.

Lissy Hawaii-WOOOOOWWWWW!! Wish we could all be smuggled in a suitcase. Hope you have a fantastic time.

Nooknookhows you? Big luck for next few days.

So I am off to sit on my hands for the next few days and staying away from any Chemist shops!!

Big love to all xxx

Hello to all. I am

pumpkinjoy · 17/03/2011 21:29

I don't know what that last bit is on my message is for!-HELP!-I need a copywriter!!

xx

Italiangreyhound · 18/03/2011 00:00

pumpkinjoy donor eggs, where to start? If you have problems with your own eggs you can go to a clinic and ask them if they have any donor eggs. There is normally a wait, unless you go overseas to somewhere like Spain. The cost of IVF with donor eggs is about £6K, so about twice the price of normal IVF. The benefit to the recipient is that they would not get pregnant without donor eggs (usually) but also that the eggs are probably younger than the person who receives them (well, they only take eggs from women of about 36 or younger and I am now much older than that). It did take a bit of getting used to the idea that we would not get pregnant with my own eggs. They told me that right at the beginning when we started trying again after DD. But I did not believe them. Turns out that were right! Unless there is a miracle before May! I am just looking forward to getting to the end of this process!

Love and blessings to all.

We used to say on this thread love and chocolate boobs! Biscuit Biscuit

2moggies · 18/03/2011 07:04

I'm using donor eggs too. It was obvious to me that I would need them, as I stopped getting periods due to an early menopause. I think it's just amazing what they can do!

lateatwork · 18/03/2011 08:28

hi.. just quickly popping in... i was 10 weeks yesterday and both (yes twins) are looking good. this is normally around the time I mc- so hoping that i will avoid it this time..

big waves to all- italian, rowing, keziah, lissy and anyone i have missed!!

lateatwork · 18/03/2011 08:33

deliah has your clinic been measuring your hcg? my clinic measures it at a minimum every 2nd day for 2-3 weeks. its expensive but allows them to monitor things really closely and adjust drugs accordingly.

i had a bleed around 5w 5 days... and was taken off clexane and some of my other drugs were adjusted.

also, my morning sickness etc has really varied right throughout this process and i have heard others say the same so i now pay no heed to my nausea/lack of it etc

thinking of you xx

Keziahhopes · 18/03/2011 12:16

Ooh, twins how exciting Lateatwork - hope they continue well! Do you have another scan at 12 weeks?

Delilah hope things still going well for you.

Still not sure when ET will be, so keep praying there will be a good embryo to transfer. Despite only having 4 fertilised they are considering a 5 day transfer which seems scary!

FlipFantasia · 18/03/2011 13:57

Hi ladies,

am a long-time lurker and graduate of a much earlier thread - I used to be Caitni and have a son aged 12 months from our first round of ICSI at the Lister.

Just wanted to say to Keziah that we also had 4 eggs fertilise and went to on to 5 day blastocysts - only 2 made it to blast, and I had both transferred, resulting in my son. It is a scary process but I just tried to put my trust in the embryologists! I hope everything goes well for you Smile

LAW congrats on the twins!

Delilah I'm keeping my fingers crossed that things work out for you.

Big waves to Italian, Rowing and everyone else (including anyone like Mojangles or Lottie or Isle who may also lurk sometimes).

We had planned on doing another round of ICSI about now, and I was all set to join you ladies properly, but postponed it as I'm still breastfeeding and didn't want to give up just yet. And now I'm glad we did postpone it, as, rather amazingly, I'm now pregnant naturally...still early days (5+2) but am hoping that things work out. My husband has a v v low sperm count, so we never ever expected this!

Keziahhopes · 18/03/2011 15:00

Flip - thanks for the encouragement and how amazing with your natural bfp!! All the best for that.

Italiangreyhound · 18/03/2011 23:04

2moggies hello and welcome, I've met you on your own thread.

Lateatwork WOW congratulations, how wonderful.

Flip I remember you! Great news about natural pregnancy, really hope all will go well. God Bless.

Keziah Best of wishes with all the treatment.

Love to all.

Enjoying/sadly watching Comic relief red nose day. Tragic, just so tragic, what a weird combination, comedy and tragedy.

Keziahhopes · 19/03/2011 19:41

Waves hello to Monkey and 2Moggies... hope your stay here is short and successful!! it you get your bfp's.

Flip - gosh they are taking my 4 to blast stage also - scary thought if none survive. One is falling behind, feel very maternal for that little one. No grade 1's now so hope they stay the same. Monday transfer all being well/

NookNook · 20/03/2011 13:27

Hi All!

Late HUGE congratulations! Please keep us updated. X

Kesiah Must be a very exciting time. Look forward to hearing about it tomorrow!

Delilah I hope you are still looking in. I'm thinking of you. X

Italian Miracles happen!

Welcome 2moggies Monkey and Flip!

I've now done 2 days of injections and all is well so far. Managed to bruise myself a little yesterday but I suppose I'll get better at it! It feels great to have started finally.

Love and chocolate boobs Biscuit Biscuit

womanlytales · 21/03/2011 12:26

Hi everyone,
Delilah am terribly sorry you are going through this. I heard two miracle stories - pregnancy related this weekend - so I am sending you a good dose of hope and faith.
Lateatwork - Congratulations and all the very best - I hope you sail through to the next weeks quickly and safely.
Flip Congratulations - hope you have a wonderful pregnancy :)
I am too on my first cycle of IUI and I see a couple of you are at this stage too. Italian With regard to running, I took a personal decision. Instead of running my 7-8km for 30 mins, I now run about half that 3-4km for the same duration of 30 mins. I do this five days a week with two days of rest. My nurse, as you might recall, said no running at all and I found that very hard to digest. Lo & behold today at my scan I asked the doctor what his opinion was about me 'jogging' and he said - go for it. Then he asked of my frequency and intensity and he just nodded and then told me about my scan results. So I am relieved but also feel PROUD of listening to myself and taking a decision that went with my intuition.

Monkey and others - I am on FSH injections in this first round of IUI. I went for my day 10 scan and have a 18mm dominant follicle in the right ovary. Next step is to take the Ovitrelle injection and then sperm donation and then insemination. Am praying that I ovulate because even on Clomid, I would consistently reach this stage but then not ovulate. Has that happened to anyone here? The Doc said it's pretty common which is scary - - So that's my first goal - Ovulate.

Emotionally though I am like ten steps ahead and in my mind have already delivered this child!!!! Wish I was more sensible.

Have a good week and all the best Keziah

FlipFantasia · 21/03/2011 14:54

Just wishing Keziah good luck for ET today - hope it all goes well!

Keziahhopes · 21/03/2011 20:03

womanlytales hope the next step goes well for you.

Thanks Flip - well one of the two embryos that made it to blast (out of 4) was good enough to transfer, so transfer was done today Smile. The other one was classed as "poor" so will find out tomorrow if there are any to freeze. Scary thought - my due date is Mothering Sunday!!
