Having difficulties ttc#2?

Lychees · 13/09/2010 15:00

After chatting on another thread, I've discovered that quite a few of us are having trouble ttc#2.

It's difficult to find much support in RL; people tell you that you should be happy as you already have a DC [I really am!] and unless they've been there, they don't really understand why it's so upsetting not to be able to get pregnant again so I've created this thread so we can share and we have a place that we can rant/vent/moan/support each other......

Sorry for the unimaginitive title ... marketing is not my area of expertise Smile!

FYI, I'm 36, DH is 38, we have DS who is just over two and a half and we have been ttc#2 for 13 months.

We have had bloods and SA on the NHS and an internal scan and AMH privately and so far, our status is unexplained sub-fertility. If I don't get my BFP this time, next month we'll be having another SA and HSG privately.

8R congrats - that's wonderful news for you!

Lou good news bleeding has stopped hope it's nothing to worry about.

panda at least you are finally getting somewhere with the doctors now hope this is the beginning of you getting some proper help.

Not much more to report at my end, temps are way down so just expecting AF to arrive any day now. I'm so sick of all of this.

Sad oh duffegg so sorry about the loss of your school friend.

my auntie had cervical cancer and very nearly lost her fight. she had 2 children at the time, the youngest being the baby boy she was pregnant with when she was diagnosedSad if she had passed away her son would have never known his mum outside the hospital NICU Sad it does put things in perspective, you are right about that! we have our health, our lovely first born children and lovely partners ( my DH is fab! )... we have alot to be thankful for in that respect i suppose Smile

Loujalou · 21/10/2010 09:59

Big hugs Duff that certainly puts everything in perspective.

Lychees · 21/10/2010 10:19

Sorry about your friend Duff. It's a terrible tragedy.

Also, good luck on your 2ww.

Welcome MrsRhett.

Hope everyone else is doing okay.

It has been 20 days since my first peak on my CBFM this month and no AF [the longest I've gone since using it] so I'm feeling a little bit hopeful. I hope it's not my body playing cruel tricks on me. I am holding out on testing until the weekend just in case.

Choccie75 · 21/10/2010 10:44

Congratulations 8RD that's great news Grin

It was bad news for me AF came 24 hours after testing so a day late, typical!

Have had lots of wet fish incidents this week, the worst was my boss, when she found out that DH was 43 she said "i'm surprised he's still fertile"!! WTF - She was joking but might as well have kicked me in the stomach!

I'm going for acupuncture at lunch time, it was the month i had this and bd on the day i got a positive opk that we conceived ds, it's an all out attack this month!

Duff - things like that really do put things in perspective Sad

pointsmakeprizes · 21/10/2010 12:53

Good to hear from you Duff - sorry to hear about your friend, we all forget how lucky we are that we already have one child and in good health.

I've started spotting today so going on to Cycle 16 now. I didn't have acupuncture this cycle and it was long one. Every month that I do have it my cycles are around 30 days so will do acupuncture again this month. Just starts to get expensive when you are going for so many months on end!

What CD are you on choccie? Hope you had enough fish for that remark!

lychees sounds very good - don't know how you can wait til the weekend to test!

Choccie75 · 21/10/2010 14:51

I am on CD6, just back from accupunture and had a good old chat with her (she is also a midwife) about it and she advised that i should have base checks done now so that we can rule anything out, she also recommended DH has sperm checked Grin

She also recommended the book 'The Fertility Plan' anyone read this?

I also 'in Chinese medicine' am quite cold (not quite as cold as the fish we are all using!) so i must eat lots of soup/stews to warm up me ovaries.

We also discussed the theory that in some cases if you have had a c section it can cause trouble second time around, also she did say thay some women can be borderline PCOS which can be trouble.

Oh well fingers crossed for this month Smile

Choccie75 · 21/10/2010 14:58

Oh yeh and i have to lose about 5 stone too Hmm

hi, we've been trying for 3 years for our 2nd, dd is 3 1/2, and on our 6th cycle clomid this month i tested positive at last 2 days ago so wanted to say in case it encourages anyone, I really was giving up in my mind. Interestingly i had accupuncture for the first time this month and he mentioned the mind is very important and it did help me feel more positive. wishing everyone lots of luck, i really do, and courage

PictureThis · 21/10/2010 22:38

That's a pity Duffegg, I was hoping it might. However, some relaxation is something i'm desperately in need of so maybe I'll have some anyway. Congratulations on your news looseleaf, maybe I'll give acupuncture a go too.

MrsRhettKilledTheButler · 22/10/2010 00:33

sorry about your friend duffegg, its true, we have to remember to be thankful for what we do have sometimes

congrats looseleaf, thats great :)

can i please ask without being annoying, (remember i'm a newbie) what does 2ww mean?

PictureThis · 22/10/2010 08:32

2 week wait MrsRhett

Lychees · 22/10/2010 09:52

Congrats Looseleaf.

Still no AF for me yet so I am feeling more and more hopeful [I can't stop myself although I know I'll be on a massive downer if I'm not].

Points, I think I'm a bit of a freak as I've only ever used a HPT four times ever. I think I'm in the minority here. My reason behind waiting though is that "ignorance is bliss"!

Sorry for keeping you in suspense Duff, I have major willpower [except for when it comes to chocolate or cake [hwink]].

My SIL swore that acupuncture was the reason she got pg with #2 after trying for some time.
