Having difficulties ttc#2?

Lychees · 13/09/2010 15:00

After chatting on another thread, I've discovered that quite a few of us are having trouble ttc#2.

It's difficult to find much support in RL; people tell you that you should be happy as you already have a DC [I really am!] and unless they've been there, they don't really understand why it's so upsetting not to be able to get pregnant again so I've created this thread so we can share and we have a place that we can rant/vent/moan/support each other......

Sorry for the unimaginitive title ... marketing is not my area of expertise Smile!

FYI, I'm 36, DH is 38, we have DS who is just over two and a half and we have been ttc#2 for 13 months.

We have had bloods and SA on the NHS and an internal scan and AMH privately and so far, our status is unexplained sub-fertility. If I don't get my BFP this time, next month we'll be having another SA and HSG privately.

Hi Katsim, did you have your 21 day test at the right time? It should have been done 7 days before your period started. I had two lots, the first one was single figures and the second one was 23 [so still low] but the first time, it was done way too early. The second was at about the right time but my GP told me it might be low due to stress.

I have not had much luck with any of the GPs in my practice so I have gone private and my private consultant told me that this test is very precise. It has to be done at absolutely the right time to get the correct results.

You should ask your DR for some more blood tests [my GP called them the day 5 tests but I believe some ladies have it on day 3]. They check out several other hormones that can affect your ability to conceive. Your husband should also be sent for sperm analysis to rule out any problems there.

Good luck.

Panda hope you feel better soon and make some progress with your DR.

Lychees, thank you for your informations - u made my evening :-) because I have irregular cycle between 32 - 42 days so it makes sense why my prog. test did not go well (lets hope thats the reason).
Thats great that you went private - definately better service than local GP.

Good luck

pointsmakeprizes · 15/10/2010 16:12

lou wonderful news - you must come back and update us!

Lychees · 15/10/2010 16:36

Anyone doing anything nice this weekend?

OP posts:
Liska · 15/10/2010 17:44

Only just discovered this thread. So happy to have done so - dd is 3 1/2, and we've been trying for number 2 for 16 months. It's so nice to see that I'm not irrational for wanting to smack people who ask me when I'm having another one. But what really annoys me is when I say I'm tired, or am having trouble with dd, and so called friends tell me that I have no idea how hard it is because I only have one child.

God it's nice to rant.

Loujalou · 15/10/2010 17:55

Am still lurking. Thanks for all the good wishes. If I can get pregnant after 15 months then hopefully its catching. Have still got wet fish to slap all the insensitive sods.

Loujalou · 15/10/2010 18:03

Liska you need some wet fish. Welcome.

Choccie75 · 15/10/2010 19:26

Humph! Got a BFN today despite no sign of AF, not even any spotting which is usual!!

So which is it, did i ovulate late, did implantation happen late or is my body just screwing with my head!???

... answers on a postcard please

Lychees · 17/10/2010 19:35

Sorry about BFN, Choccie. Has AF arrived? If not, there's still a chance.

Welcome Liska. Hope your stay with us isn't too long [in a nice way].

Louja, I hope your BFP is catching. Did you do anything different this month?

AF is due tomorrow so I'm feeling a little blue. I know when she arrives, I'll be a wreck for a few days but then, it'll be onwards and upwards again. Time for heroics Smile.

Evening all, hope you've all had a lovely weekendSmile. Lychees, remember, stiff upper lip and all that Hmm, and we're all here to listen to your woes if AF does arrive.

Choccie I am very much in the same boat as you, I have been told that my blood tests show I OVd somewhere between 5th and 7th October, my luteal phase is 10 days long usually, and stil no sign of AF! I have POAS 2 times in last 3 days and all BFNs Confused.

I usually try my damnedest not to get caught up in the symptom spotting thing, as that way madness lies, but had tingly boobs today and mild stretchy-type cramping in my pelvis. Have also been teary and pissed off, although to be truthful this could be a sign of AF or PG!

I have my fingers crossed for both of us...

Loujalou · 17/10/2010 21:07

Not sure I did much differently apart from go on holiday and have some naughty sff but that wasn't my fertile time so who knows

pointsmakeprizes · 17/10/2010 22:08

Hi ladies, been feeling a bit down today as well. Think I am 10 dpo and did a FR test today but it was BFN - I know it's still early but I have given up hope again for tihs month - should know by now that I was stupid to get my hopes up. Looks like I will be going onto cycle 16 soon.

8rubberduckies · 18/10/2010 09:32

pointsmakeprizes it's still early days - hang on in there!

Another BFN for me this morning, but temperature rocketed up even further this morning. Getting very, very frustrated now!

ZombiePandaEatsEis · 18/10/2010 11:03

hi ladiesSmile

GP appointment went wellSmile he agreed with me that my symptoms do indeed fit that of a Coeliac/Gluten allergy and he has ordered a full blood screen thingie which i go for on wednesdaySmile he wasnt overly concerned about my ovarian cyst (not least because they hadnt been informed i had MC in july and were under the impression that i was having A/N care from the consultantHmm) i gave him the info and he said basically it may have been a one off or i may need to be referred to a gynae for further investigations. hes requesting the info from the hospital so either way, a productive appointment Smile

hope everyone else is doing wellSmile

8rubberduckies · 18/10/2010 16:07

Hi all, I have a question for you. I'm not proud of this first bit, but rooted through the bin for my PG test I did this morning, to just check it was still BFN and it had a faint line on it. I'd thrown it in the bin in disgust this morning after nothing showed straight away. I presumed it would be an evap line, but after a little internet research have read that evaporation lines are usually colourless Hmm

Just tested again, and read the instructions properly (internet cheapies) and it said to check results within 5 minutes. At about 5 mins a faint pink line appeared again. Am going a bit out of my mind here... can anyone tell me anything? Or just hold my hand til ds wakes up and I can go to the shop and buy an expensive test?

8rubberduckies · 18/10/2010 21:34

Ok, please don't wet-fish-slap me, but I think this is it ladies! DP went and bought 4 more expensive tests and got a definite, but still fainter than the control line on one about an hour ago Smile Smile Smile. Over the moon, but trying to keep calm until I get a big, fat line Smile.

Lychees · 18/10/2010 23:05

Congrats 8RD! A line is a line!

OP posts:
lucysnowe · 19/10/2010 09:06

Congrats 8RD! Fingers crossed you get a big fat one! (and the line Grin)

ZombiePandaEatsEis · 19/10/2010 09:46

WOW 8RDGrin congratsSmile fingers tightly crossed for youSmile

looks like this is fast becoming a lucky thread the last "lucky" thread i was on i ended up being the only poster left without a BFP/babySad this may just happen a second timeHmm

Lychees · 19/10/2010 10:24

I really do hope this is a lucky thread for all. You included Panda.

Panda, your GP appointment sounds like it went really well in the end. It was bad that they thought you were still receiving A/N care but good that they are starting the ball rolling to get some answers for you. It's a step in the right direction.

Waiting for AF now ... could have been any day from yesterday to Thursday [my LP is anywhere from 14 to 19 days] so I'm on knickerwatch nowConfused.

OP posts:
Loujalou · 19/10/2010 10:27

Panda I have had a tiny bit of bleeding (yesterday) but nothing since so I could be joining you again. Looks like your doctor has got some sense and hopefully things get sorted for you.

Lychees · 19/10/2010 11:11

Louja, sorry about the small bleed but I have my fingers crossed that it is nothing to worry about.

OP posts:
Loujalou · 19/10/2010 11:45

It was minuscule but am still worrying! Nothing today. Am still waiting for doctor to call regarding EPU.

8rubberduckies · 19/10/2010 12:44

Loujalou I bled on and off quite a lot in the first trimester of my first pregnancy, so I know how worrying it is. easily said I know but try not to let it panic you, there are lots of reasons for bleeding which aren't necessarily MC. Thinking of you Smile

PictureThis · 19/10/2010 19:36

This isn't going to be the month for us because I've not ovulated...ho hum fucking bollocks! That aside congrats Loujalou and I'm sure the bleeding is nothing to worry about but I hope your mind is put to rest soon.
