Having difficulties ttc#2?

Lychees · 13/09/2010 15:00

After chatting on another thread, I've discovered that quite a few of us are having trouble ttc#2.

It's difficult to find much support in RL; people tell you that you should be happy as you already have a DC [I really am!] and unless they've been there, they don't really understand why it's so upsetting not to be able to get pregnant again so I've created this thread so we can share and we have a place that we can rant/vent/moan/support each other......

Sorry for the unimaginitive title ... marketing is not my area of expertise Smile!

FYI, I'm 36, DH is 38, we have DS who is just over two and a half and we have been ttc#2 for 13 months.

We have had bloods and SA on the NHS and an internal scan and AMH privately and so far, our status is unexplained sub-fertility. If I don't get my BFP this time, next month we'll be having another SA and HSG privately.

my DS is 2 1/2 been trying for #2 for 6-7 months after being off the pill since dec. I fell pg within 2 months the first time round i can't understand why i haven't fallen pg yet. Scared to go to the dr yet as it may be too soon and not taken seriously. my DH isn't that fussed as he also has a son from his last relationship so isn't that fussed if we don't have another one so i kind of feel like i'm doing this on my own, dh wants to give up trying after my next birthday so i'm on a time schedule. had a bit of a weird period this month (another thread) but negative tests. Has anyone tried the one step pregnancy tests from ebay?

Is it too soon to go to the dr???

Luce2006 · 11/10/2010 16:24

Ok girls, if you hear in the news that a crazy woman has put a bomb at her local Surgery, that ME!!!!!!!!!!!! so went there after picking DS from school thinking the blood test form would be ready ...well, I was wrong!!! The receptionist I talked to last Fridat told me she was going to get a Dr to amend it but that was never done Angry. They apologised and promised I would get it done by 3pm ( the hospital wing where they do blood test closes at 4pm)and I don't drive so I needed time to get to the bus stop and get on a bus. Went there at 3 and guess what?????? NO DR'S HAD A LOOK AT IT!!!!!!Angry so then another Receptionist apologised and told me to wait for a DR to become available. so at 3.30 she comes back handing me the form.....but it has the wrong test on it!!!!!Angry Last week I specified I wanted my Prolactine levels checked and they put a note with my form...it looks like the note got lost so the Dr assumed I needed the 21 day testAngry was told to wait m=but told me to stuff it cause it was too late for me to get to the Hospital on time!!!!!!!!!!!!! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Luce2006 · 11/10/2010 16:27

PandaEis sending you big hugs!!! Can't imagine what you ar egoing through at the moment...It'll be our turn, hun, hopefully very soon

Luce2006 · 11/10/2010 16:32

Loujalou I love beef and ale stew! I never make the dumplings thou..never tried!!!

PandaEis · 11/10/2010 16:54

luce sorry your DRs are crap!! my surgery was too so i swapped! my GP originally told me that a MC before 7 weeks didnt count as a MC as it could have been a late AF...despite numerous BFPs and the blood tests confirming MC etc she was a total idiot and i made a complaint to PALS and basically forced a referral out of her! i waitied until the appointment came and then moved GPGrin i would maybe ring PALs for advice and see if they can give your GP surgery a kick up the arse!

8rubberduckies · 11/10/2010 21:35

Hi all, sorry haven't been on in a while, I have just started a long-distance course for work-related studying and it's taking up all my precious Mnetting time! Sorry to hear so many are having a horrible time of it, I hope your GP appt is successful panda, and please don't lose hope!

cep I would go to your GP now and start the ball rolling, my friend in work and his partner left it 2 years before approaching the docs for help and really regret it, cos they got pg straightaway after being prescribed Clomid. I went last month after six months ttc and was not told to go away and try harder!

I'm on about day 1,000,000 of my cycle, and what is making it worse is I'm having to have my blood taken every 3 days til AF shows up, and I hate having my blood taken. I've had 6 bloodtests so far since day 21 and no bloody sign of AF on the horizon! FF keeps changing the day I have OVd every few days, and I am losing the will to live!

Rant over Grin

Lychees · 11/10/2010 21:40

Luce your GP practice sounds really rubbish.

Panda, the way you are feeling is totally understandable. Rant, rave, cry, scream ... do whatever you have to do to feel better about it. I have [sadly] cut the smug 2nd time/third time parents to be out of my life temporarily ... it's the only way I can cope.

Welcome Cep. I would go to the DR for some initial test and see what they say.

What is it with Myleene Klass?! Something about her just rubs me up the wrong way.

First she went on about how hard it was being a Mum [she probably had it easier than most of us with a PA, a stylist, a makeup artist, a haridresser and one or two nannies in tow everywhere she went]. Now, she is going on about her struggle to get pregnant with #2 [yes, must be hard, with your millions stashed in the bank from your countless TV appearances and modelling contracts that you could use on treatments that the rest of us could only dream about].

Enough said Angry!

Ahhh ... feel much better now Grin. Sorry about that outburst.

Hope everyone is feeling positive or more positive today.

Lychees · 12/10/2010 11:01

Sorry, it is an emotional rollercoaster for all and I am being harsh on her as I have a bad case of PMT this morning ......

OP posts:
Loujalou · 12/10/2010 11:07

Here here Lychees Myleene is annoying but not as annoying as our bodies. Mine is playing tricks with me.

Usually get some pink mucus before the spotting. Got the mucus but no spotting and that was on Sunday. Why oh why do I have any hope. Am supposed to have my day 2-4 test on Thursday so am sure body is just playing up and it will arrive on Thursday so I can't take my test and will have to take DS on Monday with me......

Loujalou · 12/10/2010 11:32

You can tell I am all hormonal too. Argh!!!! No pregnancy symptoms. Except yesterday I have a glass of squash (which is usually fine) and it tasted vile!

pointsmakeprizes · 12/10/2010 12:17

I love you ladies, came on here to see if anyone had read that mylene article! yes she totally rubs me up the wrong way, to the point that i don't even believe that it took her 18 months and doing it for self promotion - which is really cruel I know - i know i'm prob just jealous that she has managed to conceive no.2.

lou you never know!!

I am having a weird month - peak on cbfm on day 19 and 20 and sure I O'd on Day 20 but not really any temp rises on my chart. Anyway going ahead with my 7 dpo progesterone test on thursday so will see if i did O or not.

panda are you able to access any counselling? I finally went, initially I thought it would be a waste of time as I began to tell myself it wasn't that bad for me as people who have really struggled - but within 5 minutes of speaking I was in tears and it was good to get it out. Anyway next week we are going to learn coping mechanisms so I don't feel down or let jealousy get the better of me when I do hear pregnancy announcements or people going on about it.

pointsmakeprizes · 12/10/2010 12:20

Forgot to mention the most annoying bit about the myleene article was the bit she said that she had gone to her regular doctor who just told her to relax and before she knew it she had missed her period and was pregnant. Yes thanks Myleene - because that's all we really need to do isn't - just relax.

Luce2006 · 12/10/2010 12:46

like the bit whree she said she didn't find Twitter to be the right place to speak about her struggle.....funny how some cash reward makes a national magazine the right place to do thatHmm

Loujalou · 12/10/2010 13:19

Funny what a bit of dosh does. I wonder if she is on mumsnet???

lucysnowe · 13/10/2010 12:44

I HATE it when people tell you too relax!! That means you, DM and MIL :)

Nicola, going back a bit, no it's not possible to ov twice in one cycle, so here's hoping good news for you and lou.

Well for AF has arrived which I am rather pleased about since it means the soy worked and I have had a 38 day cycle which is a bloody miracle. (Last few have been 48+.) 8, are you thinking about using it next cycle?

Lychees · 13/10/2010 22:52

Evening all.

Anyone feeling positive about this month?

I'm on CD25 of what is probably a 30 day cycle and have lost all my PMA.

OP posts:
Loujalou · 14/10/2010 07:43

Well so I did a test and there was a strong line. Will write properly later but am going to office now and need to get ready. But remember no need for shagging just relax! That was a joke x

lucysnowe · 14/10/2010 09:24

YAYAYYA! Great news, Lou.

8rubberduckies · 14/10/2010 09:53

Congratulations Loujalou! Brilliant news!

Lucysnowe I don't feel I know enough about the soy yet, am going to do some more research and discuss it with my GP as well, but sounds like it worked for you.

Waiting for AF now, on day 39 of my cycle, and temperatures still up, but got a BFN yesterday, so mixed messages to say the least.

Hope everyone is happy and well and had no need for any more fish-slapping recently.

Choccie75 · 14/10/2010 11:12

Hi everyone, haven't been on for a little while so it's great catching up. On day 31 of what should be a 32 day cycle so feeling very nervous and grumpy about imminent arrival of AF!!!

I know you all know how horrible it is when it arrives but as each month passes i just get worse!

I got +ve results from OPK on day 17/18 and think i ovulated on day 18 (going off the pain in my right ovary!) so tomororw will be 14 DPO and D Day! BTW do you count DPO from the day you ovulate or the day after Hmm

Have had very few symptoms this month which is unusual, had some cramping yesterday and nipples sore but i've had much worse on months with a BFN. I also felt a litle queasy yesterday but maybe that was AF letting me know she's coming! I just don't think you can tell.

Congrats Lou what great news x

soupmaker · 14/10/2010 12:00

Lou fab news, keeping everything crossed for you.

Just been lurking to keep up with you all. All still going okay with me.

Lychees · 14/10/2010 14:03

Congrats Loujalou Grin!!!

Hi ladies,
hope u dont mind that I am going to join your forum.
We have tried for baby for last 6 months and still nothing :-( 2 months ago I went to c my GP - she sent me to check my progesteron in 21 days which did not go well (my level was 20) so the GP only advice me to buy ovulation kit to check if I am ovulating later in my cycle......which I did, but the second line was never so strong like the first one....
Thinking about it I feel very said about the whole proceedure with GP - she could do a lot more for me, is not she? So going to c her again next Friday...and going
to make sure that she is going to do more for me this time.
Any advice which test or examination I should do?

ZombiePandaEatsEis · 14/10/2010 16:25
