Having difficulties ttc#2?

Lychees · 13/09/2010 15:00

After chatting on another thread, I've discovered that quite a few of us are having trouble ttc#2.

It's difficult to find much support in RL; people tell you that you should be happy as you already have a DC [I really am!] and unless they've been there, they don't really understand why it's so upsetting not to be able to get pregnant again so I've created this thread so we can share and we have a place that we can rant/vent/moan/support each other......

Sorry for the unimaginitive title ... marketing is not my area of expertise Smile!

FYI, I'm 36, DH is 38, we have DS who is just over two and a half and we have been ttc#2 for 13 months.

We have had bloods and SA on the NHS and an internal scan and AMH privately and so far, our status is unexplained sub-fertility. If I don't get my BFP this time, next month we'll be having another SA and HSG privately.

Arrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhh, more pregnancy news today! DPs mate from school is up the duff. No wet fish alert yet, but I'm sure there will be as soon as I have the pleasure of her company Envy

littleshamrock · 05/10/2010 22:33

Hello all newbies :)

I've been off line for a little, tried to have a read through the thread and all I've missed, there really are far too many of us in this situation. Congratulations to those with BFPs!

I had my HSG two weeks ago, it was a bit like an five minute smear test, but tubes are clear and maybe it'll give things a boost for a few months. Unfortunately my cycle has gone haywire since, period arrived on day 22 Confused I'm always 28/29 days so no idea what has happened.

Just found out at the weekend that the last of my DDs little friends who doesn't have a sibling will be big sister early next year. I'm feeling horribly jealous, can empathise entirely with how you're feeling brubberduckies Envy

Luce2006 · 06/10/2010 08:34

8rubberduckies I hope you've stashed the freezer with fish!!! No pg news on my side of the UK...it seems that all my friends have all had 2nds and 3rds kids already..I'm the only one with just one at the moment Confused
littleshamrock glad the HSG was clear but yep, weird that your cycle has gone all weird...well, hopefully it's just a one off and the nexxt one will be back to normal Smile
Nothing to tell here.. was expecting AF to turn up early this morning ( usually wake up at 7 bleeding like crazy) but not a drop in sight....also I'm feeling very bloated which is weird cause the day before I get AF and the day it arrives I usually go tot he loo no problems Confused

Did a test yesterday but was - so I think I'll wait few more days ( if AF doesn't show up her ugly face sooner)

PictureThis · 06/10/2010 09:01

Hello, please can I join? DH and I have a DD who is 3.6 and we have been TTC #2 since Jan 08. I went to the GP had blood tests which showed I wasn't ovulating. The fertility consultant at work (I'm a MW) said 'lose weight' but at 36 I don't have time to wait and see if that helps. So back to the GP who started me on metformin in May and I had a MMC the following month. Still no success but at least now I'm ovulating. DD does want a sibling and keeps asking when will mummy get a baby in her tummy Sad.

At work I meet the women who had their first babies the same time as me and now they're on #2 or 3. I'm always getting asked "are you going to have anymore?" Unfortunately I can't subscribed to the 'whacking around the face with the wet fish club' because I might lose my registration Grin if I started slapping my patients. It's so hard and very difficult for people to understand if they've not been in this position.

Loujalou · 06/10/2010 09:21

Picture welcome. You need some invisible fish! People are so rude. My friend is doing WW (she is super fertile and is not trying for another baby) and had lost lots of weight really quickly.

PictureThis · 06/10/2010 09:37

Invisifish - like it Grin. I lost 3 stone really quickly post baby, which ironically was the reason I stopped ovulating. Unfortunately I subsequently put most some of it back on so almost back at square 1...very disheartening. I'm doing WW now and have lost 12 lbs so far but still have a long way to go.

Lychees · 06/10/2010 16:49

See there is more fish-slapping going on on here Grin.

Welcome PictureThis.

littleshamrock, glad HSG was all fine.

Hello everybody else!

My cousin's wife keeps updating her FB status with pregnancy related things [her DD is only 10 month olds and they're expecting #2]. Has the woman got nothing else to talk about or comment on Angry!?! She was one of the first people I confided in about my ttc issues [before she got pregnant] ... wish she'd spare a thought for other people for once.

pointsmakeprizes · 06/10/2010 21:48

Hi to all the new ladies.

Trying to stay positive for this cycle, CD 20 and got peaks on the fertility monitor now. No fish slapping incidents this week for me but we all know that it's only a matter of time.

Luce2006 · 06/10/2010 23:06

Was on the sofa cuddling my DS(he's 4) before bedtime and we had his little dolly with us under the blanket...well he then asked me if we could consider his dolly as a real baby so I asked him why and he said :because I want a little sister. I want to see her grow and teach her things....
I thought it was such a sweet thing to say and I must admit I struggled not to cry Sad...

PandaEis · 07/10/2010 01:22

Hi ladies Smile
AF arrived nearly a week lateHmm so that rounds me off to 36 cycles!! 3 years!!! Now theres something i wish i didnt have to say!! This is complete and utter balls!! It really is!! I have a friend who has had 2 of her 3 kids in that time and she is 12 weeks preg with #4 as we speak!! Angry if i wasnt so peed off i would prob be crying now!!

Loujalou · 07/10/2010 09:21

Panda sending you huge hugs. That is shit.

I am feeling positive today, not that I have won a baby this month but the law of averages has to be that I will win a baby one day..... Well on Saturday I will be in the pit as spotting would have started but today at least I am positive.

Had a dream about going to see the consultant at the FC and I had IUI without any drugs and didn't win a baby. Obsessed moi?

Lychees · 07/10/2010 13:36

Panda, that's poo. Remember, we are heroes.

Luce, that's so sweet .... but sad. Yesterday, my DS asked DH to make him a baby brother out of lego.

Hi Nicolaplus1!

Hello everyone else.

On Thursdays and Fridays, I sometimes end up on the bus to work with a pg colleague and all we talk about is baby things because she also has a DS younger than mine. It's tough and I have taken to sometimes listening to my iPod and pretending not to have seen her to avoid sitting by her. So antt-social, but I can't help it.

OP posts:
PictureThis · 07/10/2010 14:09

Panda, it is utterly shit and I know exactly how you feel.

I was talking about this with a friend who is in the same position as us. It's frustrating, maddening and totally emotionally draining. Sex becomes all about dates and quite frankly if DH starts getting frisky after day 21 I'm not interested because it's not the right time of the month..how fecking awful is that. My sex life has become totally about making a baby and somewhere along the line not about the intimacy and having a shag for the sake of it. As hard as I try not to think like that, a little voice will pop into my head 'what's the point, you've ovulated already'.

pointsmakeprizes · 08/10/2010 20:50

picture i feel the same about sex now, it's pretty grim.

panda sorry to hear that, it's a never ending hell but it has to be your turn soon.

luce that is so sweet of your DS. My DS doesnt understand why others have little siblings he keeps asking where they got them from.

Nicolaplus1 · 08/10/2010 22:56

Evening ladies...

was reading some of the threads earlier and was intrigued by the lady who had 5 positive opk only to realise she was pregnant.

Anyway inspired i went upstairs and peed on on of my many opk and got positive Confused

So is it possible to ovulate twice does anyone know?
I picked up positive on cd 14 and 15 as usual so was a little surprised by it!!

Oh also the exitedly peed on hpt and got BFN aam on cd 25.

PandaEis · 09/10/2010 11:15

hiSmile

i have booked myself in to see my GP next week as i have got an ovarian cyst and i think it may be causing my periods to be up the wall since the MC in july (that was when they saw the cyst) also i have been getting ALOT of pain and cramps this period (and the last one) and that is VERY unusual for me as i have rarely had period pains in the 16 years i have been having periodsHmm i think it needs to be looked at now.

hope everyone is having a nice weekendSmile im in work (booooo!!)

Lychees · 10/10/2010 10:28

Panda, hope the GP appointment goes well next week.

I am on the 2ww so nothing much to report. Work has been crazy busy lately so stress levels are running quite high which probably doesn't help matters but what can you do ... gotta pay the bills.

So far, though we have had quite a relaxing weekend. DS has let us have a lie in two mornings running ... it was 8.45am before he got up this morning. Bliss!

OP posts:
Luce2006 · 10/10/2010 11:01

PandaEisgood luck wiht your GP appoitment!!!
well, AF turned up in the end...on CD37 which is the LONGEST EVER for meHmm on Friday evening I sent DP to Asda to get some tests because I realy felt PG only to go tot he loo just before going to bed to find I was spotting ..Oh well, cycle 15 for me then!!
Had a lovely day yesterday ( although very busy) DP had invited a couple for lunch ( they have been trying for their first for 4 years now Sad so I felt bad for complaining when I'm fortunate to have DS)so I got up at 7 to clean the house a prepare a full roast dinner : chicken with lemon and garlic, creamy leeks, roasted potatoes ( if you coat them in polenta, they'll come out the oven super crispy Grin)yorkshire puddigs which came out massive, carrots with lemon, butter and parsely and for pudding a home-made apple tart... spent 5 hours slaving in the kitchen!!!!!! But I must say it was all worth it.the guests cleaned their plates!! then they left with DP and went into London leaving me home with DS...nice!!!LOL

Loujalou · 11/10/2010 10:14

Will post later properly. But Luce when are you inviting us all for dinner?

Had 3 people who have struggled to conceive ask me this weekend if I was having another one soon. One of the girls really had a struggle getting her first baby, one was my aunt (by marriage in her early 40s) and the other my old boss (who has now split with the bloke) didn't feel the need for fish so much in these circumstances but am still annoyed with my body and myself.

In other news spotting has started so looks like another month wasted....

In more amusing news DS smeared sudacrem everywhere all over the bed, carpet and his clothes. The joy of toddlers!!! No wonder he was happy playing by himself.

Luce2006 · 11/10/2010 11:35

*Lou8 anytime! I love cooking for peopl, the more the better!Grin Lol at your DS smearing sudacream.....my DS did that too when he was 18 months old,I remember taking a pic of him covered in it.My Dh wasn't as amused as me thou...men,can't see the funny side of things ( could it be because DS also covered his stereo in cream????? Grin )
Fantastic blue sky over here ( Herts) all my washing is outside and I'm now relaxing after ironing almost everything I had around.
Collecting DS from school at 12 and then I'm off into town to see if the Drs.One of the Dr I saw sent me a referral for blood test at home but didn't specify any hormones, she just put 'infertility investigation' so I called the hospital and asked if that was acceptable just to be told that I would be sent away with that kind of referral...stupid DR Angry so I had to rush to the Surgery and ask for it to be amended.hopefully it's ready cause if I don't get the bood test done today then I'll have to wait for the next cycle ( and I've got NO idea if it's going to be ashort one or a long one this time)

Loujalou · 11/10/2010 13:24

I love cooking too. Am making a beef and ale stew with dumplings (if I can be bothered) looks like it will be yummy but can't really taste it as don't like ale. Am hoping I like it more when its been cooked.

Luce have sent you a message as I too live in sunny herts! Doctors are shite. Mine got suspended and has left the surgery for being really greedy. Cheeky sod!

messylittlemonkey · 11/10/2010 13:37

Hi

We had difficulty conceiving #2. DD1 was conceived first attempt!

We started trying for #2 when DD1 was about 2.5yo. Got pg on first cycle then had early mc. We didn't try for a few months after that, then started again and had another early mc. We then held off for another few months, tried again and the same thing happened. At this point I went to GP to request blood tests and was told to come bck at a certain point in my next cycle. I also did lots of my own research as to why I kept mcing in the first few days of a pregnancy.

I decided to try a combination of low dose aspirin and B vitamins as my research pointed to a possible placental problem which may have been happening as a result of a problem with DD1's placenta.

Anyway, to cut to the chase, I didn't get to the blood test appointment as I fell pregnant on that cycle and that time it stuck. DD2 is now almost 7 months!

We were never massively hung up on having a second child UNTIL we couldn't seem to have one, then it was all I wanted.

Good luck to all those ttc!

PandaEis · 11/10/2010 14:52

hi ladiesSmile

im feeling rather down in the dumps today about our FTC/MCsSad it is as usual, brought on by yet ANOTHER happy 3rd/4th/5th baby preg announcementSad in the time i have been TTC#2 i could have literally had 4 babies or 3 and one on the waySad it makes me feel sick looking at it like that so i dont usually dwell on it but this weekend i have had 4, count them, FOUR new preg announcements!! one has 3 kids already, two are #2s after no TTC time (one for definite accidentalHmm) and one new mum (trying not to begrudge that one thoWink) but i have been a bitter sobbing harpie all weekendSad DH has been at a loss as to what to do with meHmm

i feel like screaming whenever i see the scan pics/positive test pic on FB or sent to me via text!! Shock
it is never going to be my turn is it?Sad
