Having difficulties ttc#2?

Lychees · 13/09/2010 15:00

After chatting on another thread, I've discovered that quite a few of us are having trouble ttc#2.

It's difficult to find much support in RL; people tell you that you should be happy as you already have a DC [I really am!] and unless they've been there, they don't really understand why it's so upsetting not to be able to get pregnant again so I've created this thread so we can share and we have a place that we can rant/vent/moan/support each other......

Sorry for the unimaginitive title ... marketing is not my area of expertise Smile!

FYI, I'm 36, DH is 38, we have DS who is just over two and a half and we have been ttc#2 for 13 months.

We have had bloods and SA on the NHS and an internal scan and AMH privately and so far, our status is unexplained sub-fertility. If I don't get my BFP this time, next month we'll be having another SA and HSG privately.

Ok

I have some frilly knickers, nice corset, various vibrators including a dolphin one, a dolphin cock ring, porn DVDs and that might be it. Pretty tame or not.

Luce2006 · 01/10/2010 20:36

uhhhh, only got silly knickers and a corset I've never used...was a Xmas present from my mum who gave it to me with the instructions "use it as soon as you feel sexy again "
My son is 4......
what's a dolphin cock ring????

Luce2006 · 01/10/2010 20:41

Blush ok...I've just googled it...I even asked my DH and he said: "you know when I tell you that you are boring?your question clearly shows it"

soupmaker · 01/10/2010 20:47

The only thing in my naughty drawer is my secret stash of chocolate!

pointsmakeprizes · 01/10/2010 22:54

Jesus christ lou!!! the things we have to do to keep ttc interesting.

I do have a fluffy red thong i got for christmas years ago and not from DH!!! though to be fair that was before I met him.... a very old hpt that i took apart from many moons ago and stashed in there so DH wouldn't find it - must get round to throwing it away....a nasty cheap polyester french maid outfit that i was going to wear to a halloween party but thought better of it....

Diana2003 · 02/10/2010 11:28

Ha ha ha, thank you for cheering me up and hope it's ok to join this thread.
Have been ttc#2 for over 3 years I am so bored of testing and the ups and downs and no explanations. no problem with #1 (lovely gorgeous boy who turns 4 next month) and lots of wet fish worthy comments from mother and older sister (who've always got pregnant the second they considered it, yes thanks relax really helps).
All we've got to show for the 3 years is one missed miscarriage a year ago - found out at the 12 week scan, gutted. Tried couple of cycles of clomid this summer and I massively over-responded, and despite doctors telling us to abandon the cycles we ignored them and still didn't get pregnant.
Finally thinking we've got to grit our teeth and go for IVF, or possibly IUI but I'm about to be 39 so time not really on our side. Can anyone point me in the right direction on London clinic experiences as we've got to make some choices here.
Anyway bringing it back to where the thread had got to, after 3 years of ttc our naughty drawer has been fairly well utilised. I'd recommend 70s porn, it's hilarious (i know laughing and intimacy shouldn't go hand in hand but it does make porn feel much less grubby)

Bloody hell am beginning to feel very tame! Our secret drawer contains pre-seed! Sexy or what? No wonder DH can't manage it two nights in a row ;-)

tigger15 · 03/10/2010 17:59

Hello can I join? I'm 30 and am currently 17 cycles after a miscarriage. DS is 3 1/2. I have type 1 diabetes which makes trying to conceive very stressful as it involves trying to keep very tight blood sugar control. Since this is dependant on what I eat, how much I exercise, hot or cold weather and stress, to name a few factors this is not much fun to say the least. If my blood sugar is not controlled I run the risk of birth defects, miscarriage or stillbirth.

On the plus side having diabetes means that I have been referred through the nhs much faster. We have had the SA, cycle monitoring and HSG done. All are perfectly normal and no signs of problematic scarring despite a c-sec and ERPC. Oh and because this is no. 2 I'm not eligible for any treatment at all on the NHS, not clomid, not IUI and most definitely not IVF. Not that I feel ready to contemplate any of them because I'm terrified what effect they will have on my blood sugar.

I completely empathise with all the comments on here. I feel like I'm the only person I know of all who had children around the same time or a year after me who only has one child. Some have 3 by now.

What is 70s porn? Grin Am very intrigued and completely sick of ttc.

8rubberduckies · 03/10/2010 19:37

Welcome tigger and diana, ttc with diabetes sounds like hard work tigger, as if it isn't hard enough already!

I haven't had much to report, on the one hundred year wait. Not at all sure when I OVd this month as my temperatures are not playing ball at the moment, so am going to test soonish, but not expecting a +ive, and may have a long wait for AF this cycle.

My secret drawer.... mostly just dusty Grin

Loujalou · 03/10/2010 21:03

Welcome newbies.

You lot need to fill up your draws. On the original thread we chatted about this mine was relatively tame!!! Blush There was a poster whose draw was much more kinky than mine. If you are stalking - you know who you are!!

Lychees · 03/10/2010 22:27

Hi Tigger, ttc certainly does sound a lot harder with diabetes. So much extra stuff to consider. Hope you get your BFP soon.

8RD, I'm embarrassed to say that my secret drawers is also dusty Smile.

I've been really poorly with a 24 hour stomach bug and it was just my luck to get my peaks on my CBFM when I was still not 100%. We managed to bd anyway but think that being under the weather won't help my chances this month. Never mind ... on the plus side, I have not spent today with my head down a toilet which is a vast imrpovement from the start of the weekend.

Got a few busy weeks at work which I am not looking forward to but at least it should help keep my mind off ttc.

Hope everyone had good weekends. Catch up with you all soon.

Hi girls!!I hope you all ahd a really nice weekend
Lychees sorry to hear you were poorly,I hope you'll feel better soon!!!!
WEll, on CD34 today...did a OPKs for a laugh and got a really strong positive so did a PG test but came up negative. I'm a bit confused... oh well, if AF hasn't arrived by tomorrow I might go and buy one of those eraly pg tests

pointsmakeprizes · 04/10/2010 10:29

luce do you think you might be ovulating now and the bleed you had before really was your period? Very confusing! Try doing another opk later today.

pointsmakeprizes · 04/10/2010 10:30

Although that's how i found out how i was pregnant with Ds first - by using the opk as a hpt but all the pregnancy tests came up positive as well at the same time.

Luce2006 · 04/10/2010 10:32

pointsmakeprizes the bleed I had on days 24-25-26 was a very tiny amount of light brown spotting Confused defo not AF... found alot of EWCM on day 32 so we BD but since yesterday has gone back to creamy/watery CM.
Also I"ve been getting lines on OPKs since day 28 but today is a strong positive
might try another OPK later this afternoon then

lucysnowe · 04/10/2010 12:52

Hi all and welcome tigger and Diana. tigger I'm sorry you are having NHS issues, and it's raised an important point I think, about the NHS options available to those suffering from secondary fertility. Does it depend on region? Because I am going to ask for a referral soon from my GP but as I am 36 and already have DD I wonder if I will get it. (I have been diagnosed with PCOS).

Anyway ladies the other day DH suggested a spot of SWIing (is that the right acronym for this thread? :) and I told him there was no point as it was only DC23. Lo and behind the next morning I bloody well had a high temp!! and am almost certain I am post-ov now as high temps continued and I have sore boobs.

SO we completely missed ovulation!!! I am so pissed off with myself. Now we have to wait a while month or more till the next one. That's two cycles, about three months, where I've absolutely not been able to sort out when my ov is (if it is). GAH GAH GAH GAH!!!

On the plus side, ovulation (probably) at day 23!!!!! That's almost normal and the earliest it's been for ages. I took soy isoflavones this cycle, if anyone else suffers from PCOS or long cycles, I recommend it (DO read this first though because you need to take it a certain way:

www.twoweekwait.com/newsletter/2006-01/

8rubberduckies · 04/10/2010 13:05

Thanks for the link about soy isoflavins lucysnowe, I have never heard of them before and will have a look into them further.

lucysnowe · 04/10/2010 14:31

Hi 8 yes, do, if the link is to be believed, they seem to be pretty successful. You have to be careful tho to only take them right at the beginning of the cycle, then stop, because generally speaking soy reduces fertility (as the link says).

I didn't think it has worked, as I didn't really feel any different, but ov on cd23 is really something special for me. Last cycle it was something like cd37. Shock

lucysnowe · 04/10/2010 14:32

didn't think it HAD worked (doh)

8rubberduckies · 04/10/2010 14:34

lucysnowe your cycles sound very much like mine, as I think I've said before. I am on day 28, and not sure if I've OVd yet, FF seems to think I have but I'm not so sure. Oh what I wouldn't do for a nice, easy, regular 28-day cycle...

I bought some pre-seed and we tried it once and then sort of forgot about it. do people think it's worth trying? any success stories with unexplained infertility?

tigger15 · 04/10/2010 20:27

BB I like the pun. We've also tried pre-seed. It does mean you get more SWI in even though you're not in the mood but it hasn't worked for us. Someone on my mc thread recommended it which is why I ordered it from amazon and she'd conceived with it.

lucysnowe · 05/10/2010 09:31

Diana pre-seed worked for us the first time around. We now use this:

www.conceiveplus.com/sasmar_lubricants.php

which is a bit cheaper, and in a tube rather than in separate applicator thingies. Can't vouch for it tho.
