Welcome to our new shiny thread for February. The lattes and expressos were not quite hitting the mark so we have moved to the pub. Whether you need Diet Coke or stiff drink help yourself we have a tab going and hunky staff are very attentive.

@Gilead

Thank you! Storm Franklin has hit the North East, the weather here is mad and we weren’t included in the weather warnings! So no sleep,😢
@Gilead the whole storm thing is just nuts. Ik NE coast and the crazy mad wind seems to have been constant. Yet like you say, we aren't under a weather warning. I forgot to take my Amitriptyline last night so tossed and turned till 3am. Finally got couple hrs. It's pants, eh?
RainbowZebraWarrior · 21/02/2022 09:02

@Akire hope lift gets sorted asap and fingers crossed for no more twinges.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 21/02/2022 09:06

@HerRoyalHappiness hope school run went ok. Half term here, but I remember feeling so pissed off last week when moat of the country was on half term and I was trailing out in shit weather. I've never really gotten back into the swing of school run since lockdowns.

Akire · 21/02/2022 09:53

Have filled in NHS app to ask for advice for surgery. Probable take day or two for them to reply. Have said I can’t get to surgery so prob get text saying have appt later no doubt! Just low level ache both kidneys but not normal to be able to feel them is it. Did wonder why some treatments are for 7 days and others 14. Fingers crossed they give me another 7 days without making a fuss. I could try find someone who could pick up meds for me with some work. But can’t really see me finding someone happy take in urine sample. As I’m not normally housebound can’t see them coming out either (which would be waste time since nothing really see) just makes me anxiety go up as never straight forward and even when explain clearly my limitations they will ignore.

Fingers crossed for the lift @Akire and hope your antibiotics have worked.
I had a bad night with anxiety then my DS got up with a headache so I only got a few hours.
Bad day yesterday mentally but feel brighter today just shattered. Have managed to get a shower and put a wash on and decide on tea. Debating whether to take painkillers or hold off a bit.
I think I feel better on week days when DS is at achool and DH is working as there is more of a structure?
I feel pressured at the weekend to go out and have family time doing this and that when I'm often not up to it. Ditto school holidays so guilt is always there.
I was in bed most of the day yesterday just got up to iron uniform and have dinner later on. Today is already better.
Wishing everyone a good day Flowers

RainbowZebraWarrior · 21/02/2022 10:04

@Akire I think it sounds from ongoing symptoms that you need and lot of ABs. You should be given them in symptoms alone as, no, you shouldn't feel low level ache in kidneys still. Urine sample can be done retrospectively in few days if need be. I'd be tempted to add about the puffiness in face you had yesterday too. Hope that's gone down now.

Akire · 21/02/2022 10:09

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior helps hear what others think. It strange because compared to everything else hurting hardly worth a mention so feels silly but no point waiting for it to get really bad again.

@wildthingsinthenight yes I do like structure of week and I’m alone. Glad things feel more positive today. Much such difference when can have shower or put a wash on feels productive and you are achieving something.

@MedusasBadHairDay

Weekends are just stressful, because I work Monday to Friday I feel like I need to make the most of my only days off, but today I spent most of my time in bed because a headache floored me. Think it's related to pain in my neck. And now I'm just frustrated
The headache got worse and kept waking me up last night (normally the only thing I can do with a headache is sleep, so this is an unpleasant development)

Saw the doctor who reckons it's a tension headache, but because of my previous month long analgesic headache we're having to be careful treating it with painkillers.

I can't help wondering if my broken ankle has somehow led to this. Because my ankle is painful I'm favouring my other foot, which is misaligning my knees and hips, which is putting my spine out, which is upsetting my neck and shoulders, which is causing headaches. 😭

@MedusasBadHairDay I was a Sports Therapist for 15 years (until recent enforced poor health retirement) You could be right, as this is exactly what happens in so much that if you have an injury on one side, you will favour the other, therefore knocking your posture out of alignment.

Few things which might help:

  1. Do not try and over correct too much. This can often make things worse.
  1. If you want to gently try and straighten your posture, imagine you have a string attached to the top of your head. Imagine someone pulls that string lightly upward. It should gently straighten you and will help to 'remind' you of your natural neutral position. Don't do too much in way of neck exercises (side to side etc can exacerbate things if you're already in spasm or inflamed so don't do anything like this for now) Be gentle. Also - very important - take note of how you are holding phone or using laptop if you use. All common sense really, but amazing how most people 'forget' how badly they sit etc.
  1. If you can (or can get someone else to do this for you) reach around the back of your head and gently massage the base of your skull. Then gently massage the temples with fingertips in a circular motion. This can help with neck / back pain / tension headaches.

Also it goes without saying - don't overdo it. And stay hydrated.

Hydrate · 22/02/2022 04:55

I agree, it could be a chain reaction. I hope you feel better soon. Rest whenever you can.

HerRoyalHappiness · 22/02/2022 08:40

HerRoyalHappiness · 22/02/2022 08:41

It must be the day for them. I'm seeing neuro today too. Hopefully for a diagnosis, not expecting it to be good. I think It's primary ms, (on top of everything else) see what he says. Hopefully will be a little nicer than he was on my 1st appointment, see if apologises haha

RainbowZebraWarrior · 22/02/2022 10:20

Yes good luck to all with appts! 🤞

Akire · 22/02/2022 10:24

Good luck neuros think they are God don’t they. A diagnosis is always better than a we don’t know but we know it’s not always straight forward Flowers

Worrysaboutalot · 22/02/2022 13:02

This month I realised the pharmacist had sent the equivalent of 6 pills of Gabapentin 300mcg instead of the 9 pills I take.

I rang the doctors who could find no record of this change and insisted I had only been on 6 pills a day always.

Luckily I wrote a post on here, so I rang back with the exact date of the appointment when 9 pills was authorised last October!

The doctors then found the original doctors note and asked their own in house pharmacist to ring me.

I received the doctor's pharmacist call this morning. I wasn't expecting a call, so in answer to his question about if I really needed these pills, I bluntly answered no, I don't need the pills. Unless I need to sleep or get a break from the lightening pain that runs up and down my legs.

Oh, he said, how long do you need them for. I replied that my leg nerve were permanently damaged so what did he think.

I hate the pills, I don't want the pills but getting a break from the worse of the pain allows me to sleep needs the pills.

Sad
Akire · 22/02/2022 13:21

That’s shocking that their records are not correct. Are they sticking with 6?? Your chemist should also be able to tell you what you had before if need evidence.

Back from GP got another 4 days of anti-biotics and go back again Monday if no better.

Sorry about wrist, good to hear some joint up thinking about appointment times though.

@Worrysaboutalot that's shocking! I hope they get that sorted ASAP, as they're records being wring are just a joke.

Daimyum · 22/02/2022 16:49

I have had to go back and forth for prednisolone with 2 lung conditions playing up. Will only give me one box a time. You'd think the gps had to pay for them out of their own pocket the way they act.

Appointment was to say I have MS, as was said on telephone appointment, and will ask a specialist to see me. So waiting game again, hope I see them quickly, or will be in a wheelchair before even been examined by anybody

Akire · 22/02/2022 17:03

Glad you have a firm answer how your feeling about it? Guess you had time to get head around the idea but still hard hearing it. Gin extra gin for you tonight.
