Welcome to our new shiny thread for February. The lattes and expressos were not quite hitting the mark so we have moved to the pub. Whether you need Diet Coke or stiff drink help yourself we have a tab going and hunky staff are very attentive.

It went really well thanks.

I'm back on my A game at the minute, tracking everything and making sure I stay within my calories

Akire · 29/06/2022 22:02

Hope everyone is doing ok. Not been on for ages due to new format and fonts which really don’t work for me!

I was here for a few days fei g quite perky having survived COVID only for that to pass and the pain took up a new level of annoyance. A sleepless night endless pain in my hands. Dropping everything right left and centre. Using a knife to butter a cracker hurts.
Balls to it.

HerRoyalHappiness · 05/07/2022 20:25

Balls to.it indeed @lolaflores I'm so fed up of pain and not sleeping now.

Daimyum · 05/07/2022 21:09

I get where you're coming from, have covid too and it takes existing pain to another level. Is dreadful and can't take anything for it. It's been quiet on here. I follow the christmas bargains too, so have a couple of notifications a day, encouraging me to spend, something to organise plus keep mind occupied

ICrunchCrispsNotNumbers · 10/07/2022 22:07

hope everyone’s okay. I too dropped off the thread for a while. It’s been a tricky few days for me. I’ve been up and down with my MH. I’ve been feeling so useless. I feel like My mum practically does everything for me and I feel like I do nothing . I’m going back to college in September but I’m getting so nervous about how it will go with my fibro.

I need a bit of an offer load
I am so over this frigging carry on!

I've been having hives. That may not be the most elegant way to describe it but hey.
Anti histamines keeping them at bay forb10 hours or so. Breaking out where my wristwatch is touching mu skin. Knicker waistband and clothes are irritated.
Is this a fibro side effect?
I have hive break outs but with no obvious reason.
Shld I ask the doc for a stronger antihistamine if there is anything than what I can get over the counter

I have hives too (chronic urticaria and dermagraphica) have done for 20 yrs. It's not usually due to an allergy or reaction, can just be a sign that the body produces too much histamine.

Cetirizine is the best antihistamine for this (all Immunologists I've seen agree) if one 10mg tablet is not controlling it for long enough, as your GP if they would be ok with you trying two a day and see how you get on. I'm on four a day under regular Immunology care (I have many ongoing allergy and Immunology issues)

Hoping that helps as it's very frustrating I know. And debilitating in itsself never mind added issues.

lolaflores · 22/08/2022 19:58

Thank you Rainbow. I've just been in front of the mirror looking at the backs of my legs as they appear and disappear.
They are spreading to my "downstairs"?! If u get my drift? Across my stomach and heading downwards.
Thats never happened before.

lolaflores · 22/08/2022 20:00

I was having an Immunebsystem issue over the last year or so.
Are hives a feature of fibromyalgia?
The pain and fatigue is worse as well today.
I don't k ow whats in my head and what's real anymore

If this is spreading, and is very new to you, then please contact your GP in the morning.

My hives came out of nowhere 20 years ago. Mostly start on my back, thighs and arms, but can spread to all over my body including the genital area.

When I said earlier that it isn't usually due to an allergy, it can be exacerbated by things I eat (e.g. chillies) or things I use (e.g. Fabric conditioner or washing powder)

Mine are like raised long lines (classic urticaria) or I can actually write on my skin (dermagraphica) but I've also had lumps appear near main veins like wrists which I think is due to overheating of the blood.

Mine have been worse during pregnancy and now in menopause, but also randomly during the warm weather. Allergies usually wax and wane, so again, if this is new to you then you should call your GP tomorrow. It could be something else entirely.

lolaflores · 23/08/2022 06:58

Thanks again, thats so helpful. I'm going to Contact gp this morning. The last very bad episode I had was after Dd2 was born...those blessed hormones and I'm menopausal now with HRT but I guess it doesn't cover all eventualities.
