So its getting to that strange time of year where people are decorating for Christmas and adverts are on T.V even though its no where near X-mas. My DH and DD and DSD think we should decorate 27th of November or December 1st but I believe December 10th. what do date do you decorate

First weekend of December for me

Dougieowner · 11/11/2022 12:43

10th Dec would be my choice.
We have always done it first weekend of double figures.

Stompythedinosaur · 11/11/2022 12:45

Early December for me.

Topseyt123 · 11/11/2022 12:46

Decs up on Christmas Eve and down on Boxing Day would be my ideal, but I compromise with my family. They usually go up the weekend before Christmas and come down at New Year.

dormouses · 11/11/2022 12:47

Up second week in December (third weekend pre-DC) and down 2nd January.

BackOnTheBandWagon · 11/11/2022 12:49

Whenever you have the time!! This year it'll be 30th November / 1st December for me, because I've taken days off work. Previously it's been whenever I can squeeze it in, so bits and pieces up until almost Christmas Eve. Trying to be way more organised this year as my toddler's going to be really excited about Christmas for the first time Smile

mamatoTails · 11/11/2022 12:57

Usually 1st Dec for us. We love the build up, and I like them to be up ready for their advent calendar.
We do however always take them down on the 27th though - like to get back to normal by then!

Leafblowertime · 11/11/2022 12:58

Whenever I feel like it. It won’t be in November though. I might put the wreath on the door at rhe end of nov, maybe the fire place wreaths, but the tree will,be December

Figgygal · 11/11/2022 12:59

First weekend of December at the earliest

mam0918 · 11/11/2022 13:02

First day of Advent which is the 27th of November this year.

reluctantbrit · 11/11/2022 14:35

Normally the first Advent Sunday or 1st December but this year it will be the 30th November for all decorations apart from the tree.

Tree comes up around the 22. and stays until the 6. January.

OrangePomander · 11/11/2022 14:38

24th December!

PurpleBananaSmoothie · 11/11/2022 14:40

First weekend in December usually but it depends what we have going on. It’s DD’s birthday in late November so we’ve said not until after her birthday.

QuietOne121 · 11/11/2022 14:45

Up November 1st, down October 30th (for Halloween).

3WildOnes · 11/11/2022 14:47

The first weekend of December. I love Christmas and view it as a month long celebration.

MintJulia · 11/11/2022 14:55

Ds breaks up from school on the 14th. We do it the following day.

RealDeeBliss · 11/11/2022 15:00

I'll decorate at Christmas, you know, In December

ASCB31 · 11/11/2022 15:01

We usually do 1st weekend of December, but my Grandma will be staying with us then, so we're doing it 27th November this year. I absolutely love Christmas, but I feel it's SUCH an effort to get everything out and put up, that I want to get the most out of it! So having it up for the longest amount of time. Having said that I always take it down 29th/30th December, because I like things fresh and clean for NYE/NYD

ShakeYourFeathers · 11/11/2022 15:01

Out side lights first week of Christmas. It acts more as outdoor lighting than actual decoration

Tree is up middle of second week of December. The. Other bits are up in time for 20th

Everything is taken down on twelfth night or just before

purplewolfie · 11/11/2022 12:43

First weekend of December for me

Yep. us too.

stargirl1701 · 11/11/2022 15:03

Christmas Eve. Tree comes in the house on the 23rd and we decorate it on the 24th.

PauliesWalnuts · 11/11/2022 15:03

Go up last weekend before Christmas Day and come down around 30th. Can’t cope with any longer than that - I’m a bit of a grinch around Christmas due to bereavements so just try to get through it without falling apart.

blackberrybat · 11/11/2022 15:04

9th Dec here (very precise I know but it takes me all day and I need to fit it around other things we have going on otherwise it'd be the 10th / 11th). The 1st is too early for me, but each to their own!

EasyLifer · 11/11/2022 15:09

First Saturday in December although we always have an advent candle which is obviously used from 1st December along with other Christmas scented candles. We always take it all down on 1st January as we are off work so have all day to tidy away and do a good dust and hoover.

RedToothBrush · 11/11/2022 15:19

1st December or first weekend in December at the latest. We have occasionally put up the 1st weekend of advent if it falls in November and we've got shedloads on and can't buy a tree another weekend

I haven't looked at the calender yet for when works for us.

It usually takes me days to do all the decos. I usually plan a colour scheme by now but haven't thought about it yet!
