My 14 year old dd is bizarrely delighted by her 10 (count them) 10 pairs of socks! She got a pair of slipper socks from the Pyjama Fairy, a pair of cahsmere bedsocks from Father Christmas, 4 pairs of Pringle socks from her Great Aunt, and 2 separate packs of 2 pairs of multi coloured wellie socks from different relations. We are seeing more people today, and she is hoping for still more socks! She gave all her school frienda fluffy socks full of biscuits - it's obviously the in thing this year!

We got DD1 a traditional wooden desk (was £10 on ebay but brand new) shes barely moved from it and come downstairs 10minutes ago and sat straight there drawing!

For DD2 we bought an electric motorboke/quad thingy its very pink and purple and has pink flashing light, first thing she opened and wasnt interested in opening anything else (eventually did) however that bike went everywhere with us yesterday (including making DH carry up the stairs and putting it on the landing whilst she had a bath

mamasmissionimpossible · 26/12/2009 08:31

dd loved her charlie and lola dolls. Have been everywhere with her since yesterday. DS loved his fisher price imaginext space rocket and is playing with it continuously. So nerr to dh who said they wouldn't play with them!

Bleatblurt · 26/12/2009 08:43

My DS's haven't stopped playing with their train set. The thing takes up half my living room but I don't care as they are QUIET.

Flightattendant · 26/12/2009 08:46

We-ell,

ds1 likes his lego starfighter and dropship...but doesn't really know what to do with them now I he has built them.

Ds2 loves both ds1's transformers annual (from my Dad) and his 'Baby annabell's brother' which we have as default named Baby Hannibal...anyone got any better ideas?

He keeps shouting at anyone who approaches the buggy, 'NO! Never Touch! Baby. MINE baby'

I'm glad I held back the playmobil farm and battle of endor till birthdays in the summer...it would have been too much I think.

Ds1 also in love with his football shirt.

CremeDeMenthe · 26/12/2009 08:47

Lol at bluetack!

A new Wii game has gone down well with mine.

Ds2 has become obsessed with Match Attax so had a great time putting all his cards into the album dd got him!

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 26/12/2009 09:24

If I was answering this question I would have said the microphones (one with a guitar) that both dc's got but asked them both last night.

DD said everything, she loved it all too much to pick a favourite. As she was opening her presents she kept saying oohh mummy santa/everyone must love me sooo much look what I got.

DS said his reindeer. He had asked for ages for a reindeer for christmas and I santa found one in Boots, was just a little thing cuddly toy in the christmas jammies section.
He loves it, mind you every single thing he opened he said oooh just what I always wanted.

FrannyandZooey · 26/12/2009 09:25

ds1 Harry Potter quidditch outfit (complete with golden snitch - cute)
a fire steel

ds2 2 melamine beakers that he can stack together and take apart again
a kind of pretend nightlight you can blow out and then blow on again

DecorHate · 26/12/2009 09:43

A fire steel?

CherryChristmasEveryone · 26/12/2009 10:52

dd2 loves her cuddly owl! it is a little owl, that makes owl noises and she thinks its great! (it was only 75p from charity shop but i knew she would love it) she has a bit of a thing for owls

oldraver · 26/12/2009 10:58

Well DS2 has worn out the batteries on his RC Roary and his 'Kid Tough Camera' so they were a hit.He wants endless games of Pop Up Pirate (not a toy he asked for, one of my choices) luckily DS1 has been happy to oblige

He loves all his Imaiginext, so the plastic tat is doing well so far

He was slightly afraid of his Stomper Dinosaur, he loved it in the shop and was upset when it was sneaked into my trolleyseemed to disappear of the shelf in Sainsburys sale

MrsBadger · 26/12/2009 11:02

the Pingu mug (once free with an easter egg) that some mate of my mum bought for 20p in charity shop and we shoved in her stocking at the last minute
[sigh]

[waves at Franny]

JingleAllTheWay · 26/12/2009 11:05

ds1 (6) electronics kit and star wars lego kit already had 3 sets from his birthday a week ago but still loved!
ds2 (3) George Lack 3 layer wooden puzzle, it's beautiful and he's fascinated by it as am I.
ds3 & dd (15 mo) are loving their tacky toysrus keyboard!

MmeherewegoawassailLindt · 26/12/2009 11:18

DS - scalectrix race track. He has hardly been out if the cellar. Best present we have ever bought.

DD - Nintendo DS. Has been recharged three times already.

I have come to the conclusion that it is better to buy one toy that they really really want, even if it is more than I usually spend for a main present, rather than a less expensive present that I think is more suitable. They got little else from us, just q few inexpensive stocking fillers.

FolornHope · 26/12/2009 11:20

his hat ( ds3)
ds1 tony hawk ride
ds2 batting pads

TheFallenMadonna · 26/12/2009 11:23

DS - toss up between star wars lego and complete set of horrible histories

DD - Hello Kitty fairy

NorbertDentressAngel · 26/12/2009 11:28

Favourite big present ( a family present so not one persons) was definitely the wii.

Otherwise:

DS(5) -toss up between the Light Sabre and the whoopee cushion

DD(10) -Klutz Fashion Book ( an art and craft thing where you cut out and design outfits)

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 26/12/2009 11:49

DS1 - lego police station
DD - go go hamsters + house etc.
DS2 - a pair of cymbals.

I am slightly regretting that last one already!

Clary · 26/12/2009 11:49

DS1 (10 mobile phone, digital camera (!) and DS game (not all from us), knights Lego and all Lego "sorry mummy there's loads of things and you can't choose"

DD (8) DS game, Brownie gifts (doll, book, annual), dog calendar, Spongebob Lego magnets, teddy bear clothes

DS2 (6) football kit, teddy bear clothes, voucher for build a bear, roller blades.

So pretty much as predicted really. good thing too.
