Does anyone else have a wrapping paper "theme" for each person and then change their mind and re-wrap everything?

I do a colour each year...this year it's turquoise paper and silver or navy ribbon

Paper was a bugger to find though!

Last year i used pages from magazines relating to each person

was greatly recieved but a bloody PITA!!

Have only read first page and CrankyTwanky's "I must say Ilike the newspaper idea, although I would use a hebrew newspaper. (I am making paper chains with it, coz after careful consideration, I have deemed hebrew the most christmassy text.) "
has me in much hysteria!

I do wrap 1 friends present in tinfoil though...as a running joke

Overboard with the manic grin!

I have themes.

amazon.co.uk for all my UK based relatives.

amazon.de for all my relatives based in Germany.

amazon.com for my brother in the States

etcetera

MP - you are clearly quite insane.

I have a theme in as much as I buy coordinating paper/ribbons/bows/tags - but then mix and match so that people have a variety of wrapping papers on their presents. That way it all looks nice under the tree (until other people's presents arrive which don't necessarily coordinate!)

NormaSknockers · 18/12/2009 09:35

DD has purple Father Christmas paper, DS has red Father Christmas Paper & DH has green Father Christmas paper - that way I don't need to faff with labels Oh & the presents that are from FC himself are in glittery silver paper!

Everyone else has a range of golds, blues etc!

thereistheball my attempts at potato printing on kraft paper were, er, terrible. What are you dipping your carrots into? Paint or ink?

thereistheball · 18/12/2009 13:22

Ink pads, which I had anyway for some stamps that were given to DD. Not sure if they'll ever be usable again but I don't really see why not. Carrots surely better than potatoes in this regard as less likely to leave starchy residue on the surface of the pad. Anyway they worked really well. Have just bought some gold ribbon to curl with scissors and pin to the present with the mini clothes pegs. Should look nice when it's all done (midnight on Christmas Eve).

ReindeerInaSkoda · 18/12/2009 13:26

Thanks Ball. I might give it a go (I think we have an ink pad somewhere). Oh and good thinking with the carrots/starch thing.

Father Christmas wraps presents with himself on the paper, nobody else uses wrapping paper with Father Christmas on! Its how you know which prezzies are from him.

Execpt MIL of course but feel the idea may be a bit complex for her, she's only had 12 years to remember.

thereistheball · 18/12/2009 19:15

I didn't have any potatoes [fmile]

thereistheball · 18/12/2009 19:16

fgs. Haven't even started on the eggnog yet.

blijemuts · 18/12/2009 20:13

alternatively you get a life... can anyone actually remember last years presents? Let alone how they where wrapped.

CurlyCasper · 18/12/2009 20:27

In simple terms, I've done one colour/pattern of paper for his family, one type for my family, and keep a roll aside for our gifts to each other. Makes them easier to lift and deliver.

blijemuts · 18/12/2009 20:28

Am I repeating myself??

nappyaddict · 18/12/2009 21:26

Everyone gets Asda smart price 14p a roll wrapping paper. It only goes in the bin so what's the difference.

Adair · 18/12/2009 21:33

Nappyaddict, I'm with ya. Wilkinson does one for 16p that I was VERY impressed with (though already bought my three-for-a-pound in poundland).

I like things wrapped in newspaper, but not brave enough. We do birthday pressies for me and dh in newspaper - and will do if we run out of wrapping. If you choose a nice picture it looks great, honest

CardyMow · 19/12/2009 12:11

DD's presents are wrapped in bright pink/black paper, DS1's presents are wrapped in red paper and DS2's presents are wrapped in blue paper, all with pictures on. For stocking presents they are always wtrapped in plain shiny (not very evironmentally friendly, but it's tradition) foil paper, pink for DD, red for DS1 and blue for DS2. Adults presents are always wrapped in gold patterned paper. The colour coding saves on tags, and there's no arguments over who's present is who's...really must get a life......

Divatheshopaholic · 19/12/2009 14:06

i dont have them, or use different paper for special for ceryain person. i use wtp, disney pricess for kids, and paper with xmassy(trees, snowflakes, etc) for adults.
thanks god im not crazy enough liuek you, i got other things get ready

carriedababi · 19/12/2009 17:24

we have a theme, although not sure it would be upto most peoples standards on here.

dd's spoge painting, shes doing the cards, tags wrapping paper and even envelopes.
she s done them with ready mix paint so itwill probably crack and fall off, but at least we used no glitter!

shes only 2.5, we have snowmen angles and trees
