Who's else setting their alarms ridiculously early tomorrow morning to join the Tesco queue and bag their Christmas delivery slot? 🤣🎄

My husband gets up for work at 4:45am anyway, so he's already been instructed to wake me up at the same time so I can get myself ready to jump in the queue at 5am!

Thought I'd start a little thread so we can all keep each other company tomorrow morning while we're half asleep, clutching our coffees and desperately waiting for our turn to book our Christmas slots!

Who's joining me for the annual Tesco Christmas slot madness?

I do think it should be clearer on the waiting page that you need to have the saver pass- I was caught out year ago after waiting a life time to get in.

My advice is to switch to Asda. There is no getting up early or queuing for Christmas slots. Those with delivery passes get early access and I’ve never struggled to get a slot.

It will open Thursday 6am. I presume it will work the same for you so suggest you try from 5.45 to get in the queue.

All done, booked for 23rd and 30th, 19 minute wait so not too bad.
Interrupted when Madam here shot out to chase another cat but she's chilling out now.

All done booked 3 slots in December hooray ! Usually a bit more if a bun fight to get them here so I'm really delighted, back to bed now I'm knackered as I was waking every 10 minutes checking the time 🙄 .

Got everything booked, including the normal weekly shops, right up to the end of Dec

You can book your usual slots through all December by the way not just Christmas week.

My wait time is going up and up which doesn’t seem fair. :(

I would love to give them a try, but they don't deliver here, we can only get Tesco

My time keeps going UP!!!

I had a 5 minute wait. I’ve now have all my slots booked from now until 2nd January.

My time went from an hour at 6am to 30
mins quite quickly and is now going up 😬

It did all feel a lot smoother this year… It jumped from the normal website to the queue at 5:45 and I was in a couple of minutes after 6:00. Although no slots available on the 24th despite getting in pretty quickly, but leaving it that late always makes me twitchy anyway. Now contemplating a nap…

It went down to 12 minutes but has now jumped back up to 20 🤷‍♀️

My time is going up now as well!

All done. Went very smoothly this year. Booked using a laptop.

Booked all of December flexible slot deliveries, including Tuesday 29 December. (Booking calendar does not let you book beyond the week after Christmas.)

It’s 5 Nov if you don’t have the delivery saver, so not long to wait.
My friend snapped up a Christmas Eve delivery slot last year ( which I couldn’t get, despite queuing for over an hour ) so I think Tesco must hold some back .

Been doing this for several years now, since we first went onto Delivery Saver.

Some years have been very glitchy, with webpages going down and I've had to switch to another browser or check out on my mobile.

I always start with the Christmas week slot, then having secured that, work backwards until I've secured the whole of December, then book the week after Christmas slot.

For me, the queue was about 16 minutes, once booking opened at 6.00am.

Glad you secured what you needed, It certainly seemed a lot smoother, this year.

I use Asda all year round - but never for Christmas any more.

One year the driver was two hours late and took our food back to the shop, claiming entry was blocked to our road (it categorically wasn’t). The manager had to put our food in the back of his car and deliver to us on his way home!! I could have kissed him in gratitude.

Two other years we’ve done Asda Click and Collect and it’s near fisticuffs at the pickup point 😂🫣 They bring the order on trolleys out of a side door so you can’t check in - you just to have to hope they know you’re there. Huge queues with not enough space for the cars waiting. They kept wheeling parts of the orders to the wrong cars. The bloke in front of us had his turkey substituted for something much smaller and was absolutely livid! That was enough for us to never do it again.

Tesco Click and Collect is flawless - dedicated hut thing in the car park with no waiting around, and staff on hand ready for you. Straight in and out. Sainsbury’s is good too - you go into the store and there’s someone sitting with a list waiting to bring your stuff out.

I don’t dare use Asda after the last few times at Christmas - even the bottles of drink hadn’t had their security clamps removed, we had to wrestle them off at home when we unpacked!

The booking confirmation emails are coming through much slower than they usually do, but they are being received.
