Thread 3 - the one where things get serious

[Reastie]

All my plans at getting organised in the last thread left me as I realised the thread with referrals was already up and running, so the one I set up I'll link to once the current one runs out!

Welcome one and all to this safe, warm and fuzzy place for people to share discounts, bargains and Christmas gift ideas both online and IRL. Please note the tone and intention of the thread and join with spirit as generous as DC helping themselves to the Christmas chocolate celebrations .

Here’s some useful information about how to save the thread or a specific post so you don’t need to have a message to check in for every thread so you have the thread saved:

To watch the thread - click on the little bell that has ‘watch’ under my first message. This adds the whole thread to your ‘watched threads’

You can also bookmark a specific post by clicking on the ‘bookmark’ under the specific post. This saves your exact place in a thread but doesn’t alert you to new replies.

If you have any referral links or codes, please share them on the referral thread here

A reminder that we don't use affiliated links on here please

If there’s anything you think would be useful or good to include in this post then please do tag me and let me know here (or DM me). Also always happy to hear nominations for a thread title.

@PoorUncleBarry - I hope you are on the road to recovery now x

Thanks so much for posting this been looking for a skincare fridge for my DD for Christmas 💕🥰

I bought this wooden container port set for a soon to be 2 year old for Christmas - it is substantial and peeping in the box looks well made - it also supports Barnardos (they have some good stocking fillers in the sale section of their online shop). I thought it was a bit different to the usual trains and cars etc. https://shop.barnardos.org.uk/kids-concept-aiden-container-port

Starfish Project just arrived. Lovely. No complaints at all. Infact a bracelet I’ve got for my SIL im tempted to keep for myself! I did a second order with just one thing in which hasn’t been sent yet.

Everyone's getting high strength manuka honey from me this year! 😆Thanks to whoever gave the Steen's info...

Has anyone ordered from mini perfume store before? My Dd14 wants fragrances this year, she's got Valentino and ghost but would like to try some minis before buying big bottles. We've had samples and the ones they spray on card. Or does anyone know anywhere that sells genuine minis?

Someone posted on here a few days ago about an outdoor clothing type of website that had offers on (one I hadn't heard of - not a normal high street shop, which is why I can't now remember it). It had some great deals on raincoats - can anyone remember which site it was - I filled a basket then got distracted and lost the page....

Why don't you get her a fragrance advent calendar? You may end up spending more but you could get a fairly large selection and know they'll all be genuine. Boots, Fragrance Shop, Perfume Shop and John Lewis all have their own versions.

Some good deals on Minecraft coins gift cards on amazon...trying to hold my nerve until Prime day though!

@Theresalotgoingon - that’s a good idea - I think Boots FAC would be a good choice.

BTW, the JL FAC is sold out and there are no plans for a restock. Plus, they were almost all ‘niche’ perfumes. (I returned my a/c after testing the perfumes in-store and realising how awful most of them were once on my skin 😿)

@PurpleSkittlerwas it m and m direct? The only other ones I remember seeing were the usual mountain warehouse/ trespass type?

It wasn't them, but I just remembered I could browse my internet search history, and have found it - twobarefeet. Thanks for your suggestion though 🙏

I posted twobarefeet, could that be it?

i Got a p Louise for the food back Christmas drive but going incognito would let me get 2 more. I didn’t but I could if others have a free to buy

thanks op

Lego have were always popular in this house. We still love the movies and cartoons into teens

I’ve just had an email response from Starfish saying there’s no eta for shipping my order (placed 21Seot) and offering a refund. Has anyone else had similar or received orders placed then? I’m torn now about just getting a refund or holding out.

My starfish project order arrived. Echoing what everyone else said - very nice jewellery and beautifully packaged.

Re: Starfish

My order hasn’t arrived and I haven’t heard anything either. If I haven’t received an update within the next couple of days I will ask for a refund. I wish I hadn’t bothered ordering, tbh.

They said the exact same to me I’m undecided what to do too! It would be good to have an estimated dispatch date at least!

I emailed Starfish as I hadn’t had a confirmation email (ordered on 20th) and got the same response from them that there was no estimated date for dispatch and I could cancel. I wonder if they oversold and are hoping for some cancellations. I also still haven’t had a confirmation email even though they said they had resent it so equally I guess it’s possible I might not receive the shipping email.

I might give it until end of the week then and if there’s no eta by then I’ll just ask for a refund. Bit disappointing as those that have received orders seem really pleased.

I have still heard nothing from Starfish and mine was ordered on the 18th.😫 The online update is stuck on 'We're preparing these items for shipping'.

I don't mind waiting (small company, goid cause, possibly overwhelmed) just wish they communicated better about these things!

Have emailed them.

I emailed Starfish as I hadn’t heard an update, within 2 minutes I had an email from DPD saying expecting your order (no supplier so assuming Starfish) and then the same email as everyone else. I’m going to hang on, I ordered three things that look like they will be lovely and they weren’t expensive.

What's this? 👀 Currently nursing a stinker of a cold and deffo in the market for some decent honey even if I've missed the bargain 😅
