Please cheer me up with all the wonderful things to look forward to in Autumn.
I have had enough of heatwave after heatwave. Especially as a dog owner. Ive just stuck on Gilmore Girls as a means of escape!

So please join me here if you can't wait for Autumn and share any of your Autumn joys!

Put it in the Christmas section in the hope of finding my kinda people! I

I think Gilmore Girls is great for the location/cute little Americana towns.

Less so the storylines

Every Autumn I rewatch the following
Band of Brothers
Downton Abbey
Poldark
BBC Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice

none of them are especially autumnal but they all feel like cosy old friends to me.

I stocked up on the Aldi candles yesterday. They look so sweet and I think they smell nicer this year. It was 35 degrees here yesterday so it felt a bit innocuous buying Autumn things but I’m manifesting it hard!

Are these the ones with the little Pumpkins? I went to Aldi a week ago and there was nothing autumnal in, but I've hear there is now.

Ooh, you’ve taken me right back to my childhood, with the mention of cobnuts and foraging for berries! You must live in a fabulous area , like I used to? I’m by the sea now which is nice but you don’t get the ‘green’ of the countryside, or such an obvious change in seasons with all its offerings. We used to get a glut of damsons - but only every other year and my Ddad used to share them amongst the older ladies of the area. We in turn, used to get carrier bags of new potatoes, tomatoes, apples etc tied to our door handles as neighbours shared their home produce.
A lifetime ago, it seems…

And you write beautifully!🍁

Thank you ❤️

I also live near the coast (a mile from the sea) but also surrounded by farmland, woodland etc close by (Northumberland coast)

I have a question for my fellow autumn lovers - any recommendations for cozy autumn books/audio books?

I have a great collection of cozy Christmas stories, but I'm feeling the need for autumn!

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 15/08/2026 14:10

I love candles too, planning on asking for ine of the Druid candles for my autumn birthday.

A local favourite of mine, are Limelight, Bath. 100% natural plant wax candles, sustainably sourced, GMO and palm oil free. The throw is amazing, and they burn really nicely, no tunnelling. Also, only 12 miles from me, I can drive and shop in their factory shop directly. so dangerous for my bank balance

For autumn, my favourite is No. 19: Hearth, but I also like No. 23: Juniper and Cedar.

LeahCariad · 15/08/2026 14:28

I'm so happy that today is substantially cooler than of late - and I'm even more happy that for the first time in MONTHS I'm making spaghetti bolognese for tea.

I'm letting it simmer on the hob so that by the time we eat tonight it will be a luscious blend of yumminess.

Autumn Chills is a collection of short stories by Agatha Christie that i enjoyed. Also September by Rosamund Pilcher is one of my favourite books of all time not just in the autumn.

Oh no, I’m only a few miles away too. Been planning a trip over that way anyway 😉

😁

It's out Corsham way, have a little look at their website - they do ask that you phone them in advance, if you want to go directly to their factory shop.

I was also wondering this too!

Last year I read “Love and Lattes at Pumpkin Hollow” by Victoria Walters and “The Pumpkin Spice Cafe” by Laurie Gilmore. My usual reading style are dark thrillers/detective books, but at Christmas I love to indulge in a cheesy rom com. So last year I was thrilled to find these, they were exactly as you’d expect, but I did enjoy them!

Looking for some good recs for this year 📖 🍂

Can I join in? I’ve decided how much I love autumn since this year has been so hot. I’m so looking forward to the cooler weather and snuggling under my big duvet again. I’ve been looking at new jumpers for the kids and fleece lined leggings. Just been to the range and they’ve got some lovely stuff in. I’m redesigning my new bathroom and decided to go for autumn colours. I’ve found this in the range. When my new bath is plumbed in I’ll be treating myself with this 😊

Had a little hike out today, was hoping to see some toadstools but somehow forgot about how dry it's been! The last few weeks of heat must have fried my senses 😅 Will try again next month after some 🤞 rain 🤞 has fell. The colours are slowly changing, likely more from the dry spell/false autumn effect. Still, the air was cool and the brown leaf litter felt like we're getting closer to being on the verge on Autumn 🍂

I picked up the pumpkin spice café one about three months ago and it has been patiently waiting in my bedside cabinet to be read since then. Think I will start it in September.

Whosthetabbynow · 16/08/2026 13:53

I’m going to go take trip to my ‘local’ Asda. I’ve been looking on their website and they’ve got some lovely autumn bits. Can’t wait.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 16/08/2026 14:19

The book I linked to a few days ago is my recommendation for Autumn reading. There's also a book called Falling into Autumn which is a beautiful book.

I absolutely love The Simple Things magazine and have just subscribed. I managed to get some really lovely old Autumn and Winter issues from ebay / vinted for about £1 each - usually £6.99 Case in point, someone has just listed a set of 3 (Hug, Spice and a Christmas edition) for £3

I gave in and bought a furry throw from Habitat that I’d been stroking every time I walked past it in Sainsburys. 20% off tipped me over the edge - now I just have to hope it ever gets cold enough again to use it. Come on autumn!

AutumnLover1990 · 16/08/2026 21:14

Noticed the nights seem to be drawing in tonight. Much cooler too 😀Rain is forecast for tomorrow 😁

LeahCariad · 16/08/2026 21:50

We've just had a rain shower - only 10 minutes but now there is that gorgeous petrichor smell in the air 😊

LittlefatTaffin · 16/08/2026 23:15

Ive currently got torrential rain here in Yorkshire 😁

WeMeetInFairIthilien · 17/08/2026 08:40

Rain!
Rain in Bath!

It smells delicious.
