You won’t get to shop with her to establish taste. I was thinking of Angel with Alien for her younger sister (13) but feel like maybe the names might be misinterpreted as a verdict?

What perfume does your 15 year old wear?

Ariana grande
billie eilish

both popular

EmailsaysOOO · 20/07/2026 18:25

Mine are older now..Just to say I can't bear that perfume. How about one of the Daisy perfumes ? Or Flowerbomb ? I don't know what the Ariana Grande perfumes are like but she might like those

I’ve heard them chat about singers and the like but never those two so I’ve shied away from specific pop star perfumes

can’t bear that perfume? Which one?

I don’t particularly like Daisy - don’t think I’ve ever smelled Flowerbomb

Dkny be delicious. Sure b and m had it at a good price.

Still love that perfume and use it for day to day wear sometimes.

Justdontwanttodothisnomore · 20/07/2026 18:32

Both Alien and Angel are strong & don't suit everyone. They are particularly too strong for a 15 year old.
You need a more flowery fragrance, perhaps one that's pink as they tend to be flowery. Or you could go the fresh route and look at blue ones(cologne types). That isn't always how they are presented but is the general rule.
Jennifer Lopez, Brittany Spears (not the green one, it's horrible), Jessica Parkers "Lovely" or Ghost fragrances (Sweetheart is light & flowery).

IggyAce · 20/07/2026 18:33

I’d stay well away from Angel and Alien, they are quite strong scents and a bit marmite. Angel smells amazing on some and bloody awful on others.
Next Just Pink would be great it’s a dupe for Miss Dior.
Vera Wang Princess
Viva la juicy
Brittany Spears (pink bottle)
My dd has worn all of these as a teen.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 20/07/2026 18:34

@Justdontwanttodothisnomore

i was looking at the variations of Gucci Flora BUT it’s quite pricey whereas I can get the ones I mentioned as a gift set

I have angel and both my teenage daughters hate it! I really wouldn’t buy her it because it’s quite strong! My 16 year old thinks it’s old ladies perfume! They love the So sprays.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 20/07/2026 18:36

So I know Mugler perfumes are marmite but I really like both scents!

PeonyBulb · 20/07/2026 18:36

I don’t particularly like Daisy - don’t think I’ve ever smelled Flowerbomb

But it's not for you, it's for them! I work with a much younger colleague who always smells of vanilla and burnt sugar and coconut. She smells amazing, but I would never wear any of that myself.

I'm a perfume blogger and I would recommend the following:

Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild (very green and fresh).
Ariana Grande- Thank U Next or Cloud are runaway best sellers.
If budget permits, Chanel Chance or Givenchy Irresistible- both lightly floral and uplifting without being cloying.

I wouldn't risk Angel or Alien as first perfumes as they are MASSIVE and could possibly be divisive/marmite. On the right people, they smell good, but I wouldn't blind buy either as a gift.

For a smaller brand, and if they specifically want vegan perfume (they may not mind either way), you could buy a Floral Street Discovery Set and offer to buy a full bottle of the one they like best.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 20/07/2026 18:40

I’m going for something a bit more upmarket than So…. no offence to So….. I had it in my own youth

Why not just buy some samples from eg notino to try out first?

https://www.notino.co.uk/discovery-box/

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 20/07/2026 18:42

Yeah I’m definitely not buying anyone a perfume I think is horrid. I think I will have to go and do some sniffing in Boots.

My DD 15 has Dior
DD 17, Marc Jacob’s Daisy, Happy Clinque, Prada

Anything but that Victorias Secret stuff. Yuk

orangeblluegreen · 20/07/2026 18:46

I’m in my 30s and absolutely love Ariana Grande Cloud

Mysterythatissolved · 20/07/2026 18:47

Does it need to be a label?
I bought ds2 a set of minis from next, dd1 one from zara. They found there favourite and now we buy that. Ds1 (always designer ones) came home a few weeks ago and asked ds2 what he was wearing because he really liked it and is now a convert to dupes.
I have been wearing the same next dupe since 2004 and often get compliments.

IggysPop · 20/07/2026 18:47

Yeah - our teenage girls think Angel and Alien are a bit old-fashioned, heavy and for older women. Not great at school or college (or work) as notorious for triggering headaches etc. for the smell sensitive.

Daisy is popular, Clinique Happy, some of the Jo Malone, for ‘upmarket’ chanel chance (tendre).

depends what you mean by upmarket - I would think more niche brands such as Perfumer H. But these tend not to be teenage orientated. My nearly 17 year old likes Foras foras.shop/collections/fruity-fragrance

EmailsaysOOO · 20/07/2026 18:47

@EineReiseDurchDieZeit sorry yes that was unclear..I don't like either really but especially dislike Alien.. Can't abide it. Very much a marmite one, as PP.say

ElliePhant28 · 20/07/2026 18:50

Are you near a Zara because they have a great selection of perfumes for all tastes (some made by Jo Malone). Also the M&S range are good.
Failing that CK One. still love that decades on.

BibbityBobbityBuggerit · 20/07/2026 18:52

Miss Dior. Though someone posted upthread that Next 'Just Pink' is a dupe for it so I shall be off investigating that as the Miss Dior bottle is so empty there's not even a lasting whiff of it 😀

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 20/07/2026 18:53

Does it need to be a label?

I want something a bit nicer than what could be got with pocket money

In the case of both it will be “first grown up perfume“ which is why I’m shying away from a celeb one and ideally want to get two different ones
