You won’t get to shop with her to establish taste. I was thinking of Angel with Alien for her younger sister (13) but feel like maybe the names might be misinterpreted as a verdict?

What perfume does your 15 year old wear?

Who buys anyone a fragrance they think is horrible?

Here April (not her name) have this I think its disgusting I thought of you.

I’m sure I can get them something that fits all remits

Well my mum hated my perfumes but she bought me what I liked!
she loved Chanel, shalimar, poison. I’m a perfume collector but don’t like any that she did
TBH it would be unusual for you to like the same scent as teenagers

killerqueen2026 · 20/07/2026 22:09

I don’t know how much you have to spend but you could get something like the Kayali discovery set and then buy their favourite
or ask them?

AlexFurbison · 20/07/2026 22:14

I bought my teenage DD a set of Jean Paul Gaultier miniatures for Christmas. She loves them all but Divine is her favourite.

Microwaveexpert · 20/07/2026 22:14

Young girls nowadays seem to favour the sweet smelling ones like ariana grande. All the dkny be delicious ones are nice or Anna sui, I got the sky for a good price in semi chem. Its lovely and in a cute hot air balloon bottle

IFancyGregDavies · 20/07/2026 22:22

I always think perfume is a really random gift unless you know someone likes it. My PIL often get me perfumes SIL likes and I rarely like them.
Can’t you get them a voucher or ask someone who knows what they like.

If you're buying for other people you buy for them not you! My Mum loves Tweed. It smells great on her. I don't want it but I buy it for her.

SundayGirl86 · 21/07/2026 05:12

Laura Mercier, Ambre Vanille is a lovely light vanilla perfume. It won’t overpower and is perfect for a teenager.

JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome · 21/07/2026 05:16

Caroline herrera Good girl comes in 3 varieties

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 21/07/2026 05:26

Got a sample of Moschino Toy Fresh and Immediately thought-this would suit a teenager(not me)

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 21/07/2026 05:37

Why don’t you go with them around Boots or the Perfume Shop and let them choose? My best friend at 15 loved Dior Poison. Not all youngsters go for sweet or flowery scents.

Mydogisagentleman · 21/07/2026 05:50

Our DD got some DKNY apple fragrance.
She's still wearing it 5 years later #frugal

Sparkletastic · 21/07/2026 06:30

Would agree with one of the Glossier scents. My youngest also favours Saltair and Phlur and Milk by Commodity.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 21/07/2026 06:47

Mine wears Versace women. Quite often comes up on sale in Superdrug.

hansenhen · 21/07/2026 07:08

It’s 6 months until Christmas, surely you will have a chance to go shopping with your teens in this time to ‘establish taste’? There is no way I would buy a perfume that was ‘a bit upmarket’ without ensuring the recipient liked the smell first.

mac111 · 21/07/2026 07:25

I thought the Billie Eillish perfume was surprisingly nice when I was looking for my daughter - a little vanilla like. Also Coco Mademoiselle is popular here - I ended up getting her Lancôme Suddenly last Christmas. Perfume shop were doing a discounted travel spray bottle that they filled for free as well which was a nice stocking filler

TofuTheCat · 21/07/2026 07:42

Roberto Cavalli - paradiso… it’s summery and floral fruity and I got loads of compliments every time I wore it.

Aerin (Estee Lauder’s granddaughter) makes sensational perfumes. Hibiscus Palm is my summer go to and wild geranium a softer, light floral less tropical vibe and I cannot tell you how many people compliment me on my perfume. Plus, a bit like Jo Malone, they have a less ‘synthetic’ type of smell which I find most mainstream perfumes have these days (but I’m also very sensitive to fragrances as I’ve got older and lots just give me a headache)

Go try a whiff of those maybe?

babyproblems · 21/07/2026 07:46

Any by Marc jacobs
Coco mademoiselle
Miss Dior is also nice for younger.

When I was 15 we were all wearing Tommy Hilfiger or Noa with the little pearl in the round bottle!
I wouldn’t buy alien, for anybody. It’s a hideous smell I don’t get the hype at all! You’re the first person I’ve ever heard suggesting of buying it tbh!

MrsArcher23 · 21/07/2026 07:46

Why don’t you go on a perfume shopping outing and let them choose? My niece 19 likes YSL Libre.
I used to wear Angel twenty years and loved it at the time but I find it very strong now, headache inducing. It’s not a teen scent IMO and very marmite. My sister hated it.

Smithstreet · 21/07/2026 07:53

My 15 year old wears Good Girl, I got it as a birthday present after she was wearing a zara dupe for ages so we knew she liked it.

Sparkletastic · 21/07/2026 08:22

Oh yes Libre is a great shout. I wear it but I think it’s marketed at young’uns hence Dua Lipa ads.

My teenage daughter likes the Charlotte Tilbury fragrances

Blueuggboots · 21/07/2026 08:34

Not alien. It stinks!!! Please do it perpetuate that on another generation.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 21/07/2026 08:50

A few people have asked questions :

  1. They aren’t my kids and they don’t live locally so I can’t just take them to Boots
  2. A shopping trip has been done before, the 13yo was difficult enough for me not to be enthusiastic to repeat it. It’s easier just to get it done
  3. i try and get my Christmas shopping done early, I’m nearly finished in fact
  4. Getting my first scent when I was 15 was a huge treat to me

I’m considering those gift sets with all the minis now

It’s turning out more complicated than I thought @Justdontwanttodothisnomore

I think buying fragrance for anyone is difficult tbh, let alone adding a teenager into the mix! Unless you know their favourite one or one that is similar to what they already have. Add into that the cost that has gone through the roof now.
You're being very thoughtful though. If you get someone helpful in Boots on the fragrance counter, perhaps someone in their 20s who is more in tune with teens, then you might get some good advice.

DanaScullysLegoHair · 21/07/2026 11:23

The older ones seem to be popular with teens these days, as a PP said, think 90s and stuff. CK One? That sort of thing is having a revival. CK Be is still a favpurite of mine. There is Eternity or Chanel Chance too.
