I love Christmas and have already started to think about next year. Last year we went all 90s and vintage, I’ll be doing the same this year and have already bought new vintage style led lights which I’ve been after for year. I dont change decor each year, we always stick to quite a traditional theme

A woman after my own heart - i think gold for this year and then something stemming off of gold for next year, similar to your 90s theme

I' ld like a chocolate brown theme for my living room this winter, so will hopefully compliment it with the gold christmas theme 😍

Op I did a chocolate brown theme after buying wider brown satin ribbon forgotten and dusty in an antique store. I joined it with shimmery solid lavender gift wrap I inherited from my friend who was dismantling her childhood home/ parents home.

it was lovely and remains one of my favorite themes
I do large oversized bulbs in mercury glass, blue and rusty ivory and then add in smaller bulbs in a color. I bought two boxes of lavender glass ornaments at the charity shop (18 total) so donations really are bought used and enjoyed by others😊
I reuse a lot of my things annually but tweak it up a bit. I do have a very very beautiful faux tree that was expensive but it’s so pretty all decorations look lovely on it.

I think I shall go with my usual….’explosion in a clown’s wardrobe’ theme.
I start off all understated, elegant, tasteful. Then something happens and it’s all the stuff, all the colours, all the places.
Kind of like me on a night out….

Ooh love this thread! Have enjoyed reading everyone’s posts.

I keep same theme every year for the tree - gold and silver. Maybe boring but I don’t want to buy more.

But I always change the theme of the wrapping paper I use and make cute gift tags. Thinking of chocolate brown this year with some thick velvet bows.

Stilltame · 30/04/2026 21:40

My theme is red and gold with a splash of pink. I’d love a new tree but they seem so pricey these days.
I’ve already got some savings in my Christmas gift fund

They are so so expensive

The balsam hill ones look lovely but cant justify the cost!

Chocolate brown is the colour this year!

Nothing wrong with sticking with a classic! 🥰

Do you have any non outing photos? No worries if not xx

Brown and lavender is a really nice combo, i'm googling now

I also want oversized baubles 😍 - they'd be gold or clear i think

Its alright, I thought it was a really nice idea - sounds so good, especially the ed sheeran one! 😄😍 - would it be too outing to upload a photo? No worries if so

I still haven't bought them, thank you - indoors today so will have a browse online 😍

😄🙈 people are annoyed with me for changing theme every year so I plan to buy good quality, lifetime ornaments for the tree - i'll still be spending on temu though as well

I hope this works, I don't think I've uploaded a photo before.

hi op. I’m in a different time zone. I don’t have pics of the gifts or that particular
tree on my phone and all other photos are
in my Mac book which is currently getting its masters degree in another state via my DD😁. I do have a pic of a previous year smaller tree and you can see the lavender ornaments but for the first time ever MN won’t upload a pic from my phone saying it is too big. 🤔

NeverendingRabbitHole · 27/04/2026 13:06

I can't knit either but I can make pompoms!

These colours maybe

Do you have pompom maker? If not I highly recommend getting one, you can whip up loads of pompoms in no time.

CarefulNow1999 · 01/05/2026 13:38

For anyone wanting a cosy feel I’d recommend firefly lights. We bought some a couple of years ago and they make a big difference.

Cherryrainbow · 01/05/2026 22:11

I bought green decorations in the sales so looks like it'll be green, gold, and white/cream

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 03/05/2026 18:38

I passed up the chance to buy a carrier full of peacock-coloured decorations at a car boot sale the other week. Still kicking myself, they were gorgeous. Vivid, shining, blues, mauves and greens. Oh well. I already have enough themed boxes in the loft as it is.

It's a harmless hobby, I keep telling myself.😂

Thank you. 😃I honestly can't remember how long it took, but up to a week? I did buy the guitar seperately, from Ebay. It's was actually for guitar pick storage. (In the main body, at the back.) 😅

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 03/05/2026 19:12

I flip flop on what sort of lights I want. Loved my warm white ones then when they broke I switched to multi coloured and love them too.
Now we have a bit of both with coloured on the big tree in one room and warm white on a smaller tree in another.

What I’d really like is a set of the colour changing ones that can be either, depending on my mood. I have a set of cheap USB star lights that are ridiculously long that could be warm white, cold white or coloured and I love them.

Only a week?!

Thats such a cool talent to have, seriously 🥰🥰

You should send a photo to Ed sheeran, I bet he'd love it, he's cool like that

That guitar was a good addition as well x

I've never felt the need for a "Christmas aesthetic", I've managed married life without ever having one for more than 40 years so I'm sure I can manage without.
