"There's four cat food pouches left. We don't need any more, do we?"

We have three cats.🙄

ohyesido · 24/12/2025 14:48

What are they supposed to do, share?

let him explain to the hungry kittys tomorrow

pinneddownbytabbies · 24/12/2025 14:56

He had one job. He buys cat food. He is now walking to the supermarket for supplies. On the way out of the door he also said that we only have one lik-e-lix left, so I suggested he might like to get some of those as well.

Honestly.

That would leave me in a cold sweat! We have four cats and apart from Christmas food I have stocked up on plenty of food for them and cat litter!
At Christmas I cook up the giblets and share them out as a treat.

Easily solved, yes.

But do you see how’s there’s an issue with a man who has one job, at this time of year, downloading the thinking to his wife who I assume has around eleventy billion jobs? Or that’s fine?

TooTiredToTrot · 24/12/2025 15:02

I would start to panic at less than 4 boxes! :)

pinotnow · 24/12/2025 15:03

Thanks for reminding me we need this too, though older cat would manage on kitten pouches and her own biscuits for one day if she really needed to. We'll make sure our planned walk goes past our local Sainsburys. It's an oversight on my part but surely DH knows how much food they eat in a day.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 24/12/2025 15:04

I have 5 cats. Currently in stock in the cat cupboard are 5 x 40 sachet boxes and 3 2kg of dried food, plus a whole pan drawer full of cat treats and 40kg of cat litter. That’s the bare minimum!

Yes. By DH doing what he's supposed to do, without asking stupid questions.

Get out of the wrong side of bed this morning, did we?

damemaggiescurledupperlip · 24/12/2025 15:10

No worries. They can eat him. I’m sure they could make him last a few days

The day you do that is the day the cat decides it doesn't like that food any more.😂

This.

Also I’m here for the cat tax.

sittingonabeach · 24/12/2025 15:13

So how many jobs do you have @pinneddownbytabbies? I bet more than one

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 24/12/2025 15:14

Here’s three of them!

DH has just announced...
ilovesushi · 24/12/2025 15:17

At least he noticed! Mine is oblivious.

Slightly more than one, yes. I am currently eating chocolates and drinking tea multi-tasking. 😎

They can have his share of tomorrow's turkey !

I have 1 cat , I buy his food by the box of 80g x 40 pouch and 2 kg of dry food .
As soon as I open the box / bag I oreder another .
He generally only eats 1 pouch a day and a small hand full of dry food ( he is only a little cat )
So I generally have at least 6 weeks supply of food .
I do the same with his litter.

Your DH needs ti get himself organised!

MrsMoastyToasty · 24/12/2025 15:23

Got any turkey giblets? Boil them up and give them to the kitties.

LittleGreenDuck · 24/12/2025 15:24

On the plus side, the pet food aisle is always the emptiest part of the supermarket on Christmas Eve.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 24/12/2025 15:26

They get his turkey or whatever you’re having. Simples!

pinneddownbytabbies · 24/12/2025 15:30

Update - I can report that DH has returned already with not only cat food pouches and lik-e-lix, but Dreamies and chewy sticks as well.

And there was me thinking the cats would have to make do with turkey, chestnut stuffing, pigs in blankets, gravy, sprouts (actually no, been there before, never again), giblets, gammon, prawns, chicken goujons, pork pie and Ardennes pate.

All's well that ends well.
