I haven’t seen one of these thread yet this year and with lots of “help need ideas for…” type posts thought might be useful, plus I’m nosy and love hearing what everyone has bought their DC

(misers, moaners and the “DC should only gets a resource book, pair of socks and a satsuma” brigade need not comment.)

Three teenage girls 14, 17 & 18 was in my element shopping for them this year if I’m honest.

Why the need to say the names of the makers of things? Why not just socks, pants, jacket, hoody, bath bomb, perfume etc?

You obviously aren’t a frequent on the Christmas boards and the countless “What brands are your teenage girls into” “Looking for ideas for my teenagers” and such like posts. As stated on my OP and by various other posters, it’s actually quite helpful!!

Ds 9
Santa, pool table and in stocking pro controller, chocs, bath bomb and craft stuff
Us, scooter, board games x2, Minecraft bookset, glue gun
Ds 6
Santa, bike and in stocking helmet, jenga, chocs, bath bomb and craft
Us remote control car, rc motorbike, lego, drone (tiny one) and a hoodie ( youtuber merch)

My DD would have much preferred this list. With the exception of the riding kit it OP’s post was much too fluffy and pink. All about what you look like and not enough about things to actually do.

Whereas my own DD would much prefer the OP’s list 🤷🏻‍♀️

Know your child, I guess. Just wonder how much we encourage girls to do not just to be.

What’s a ‘rattler’?

Maybe Cornish Rattler? Cider

RollyPollyBatFace · 18/12/2025 17:33

DD 27

suitcase record player
2 vinyls
echo show
coffee machine
various make up bits and pieces
chocolates and sweets
Candle warmer
slippers
sports socks

DS 19

airpods
sports gear
chocolates and sweets
various clarins / Clinique skin care bits
Aftershave
switch game
hoodie
Lego

they both have stockings filled with scratch cards, mini alcohol bottles, water bottle, soaps, mini magnets, power cables and chargers ,make up / fidget balls etc etc

it’s a lighter year for me because we gave DD £3000 this year for something specific and bought DS hugely expensive pub pool table for his birthday 3 weeks ago which he knows is to be a joint Xmas gift

I don’t usually put an overall figure on what I spend but this year it’s come out at around £1000 between the pair of them which I feel is quite enough.

doesn’t stop me ‘twitching’ however but I’m trying really had not to!

Can I ask why? Interested.

Yes, good point. I have always encouraged my DD to try everything- she has an older brother. I got her to try football, horse riding and hip hop but she’s absolutely mad about ballet and dance - very girly and very into clothes and perfume/make up. She’s actually very much like my mother - I think you just get what you’re given.

Don't understand the 'being into' brands. It's very crass. A nice sweatshirt/jacket is a nice sweatshirt/jacket irrespective of what 'brand' it is 🙄

happytobemrsg · 18/12/2025 17:46

Can’t list all the sack presents 🤦🏻‍♀️ but tech-loving DS9 is getting a Switch 2 & wider family has bought him lots of accessories & games for it. DS6’s main gift from us is an indoor Wendy house. I’m making it space themed with a lovely navy space fleece for the floor, star fairy lights for the ceiling pole & I’ll fill it with all his planet teddies. For DS1’s main gift we are filling his playpen with hundred of plastic balls… send help

That’s wild! An iPhone is not a table present.
I can’t imagine what you’ve spent?

Nothing like a goady, bragging thread to get everyone in the festive spirit 🤶

Beginning to feel quite hard done by 🫣😂 once I move out it was £50 was the norm!!!

With kindness, if you are sharing a mutual interest of things your children would be interested in with a poster who has 9 & 6 year old boys I doubt we have DC of the same age nor sex so it’s not really relative.

But for the record my girls are clever, articulate, resilient, creative, sporty, AND mega into skin care, makeup and clothes.

Us women don’t need to pigeon hole ourselves.

@Allromanticsmeetthesamefate honestly I had the same on a thread I started I got berated for having too many items “pertaining to appearance” when you could I said there was a lego set, edible items and sports kit and gear bag. Like a girl can’t enjoy both aspects or something! Ffs!

mummydoris2006 · 18/12/2025 18:15

@Allromanticsmeetthesamefate I'm not going to list DD19'd full stash because I just cant be arsed with the judgey comments.
As well as premium beauty products, needed due to her skin, the majority of her presents are Fairfax & Favor, LeMieux and Aztec Diamond. People say you should cut back at 18 but shes our only one, we work hard as does she and we don't get into any debt.
Hope you and your DD's have a fantastic Christmas 🎄.

31 yr old DD but I'm a girl who grew up with Lego and Meccano. It was more about the doing and not being. Your children sound lovely.

Ems235 · 18/12/2025 18:22

Love the idea of a table present, might adopt that myself!

DD 23, concert tickets, Laura mercier make up bits, pandora earrings, silver necklace, perfume.

DS 25, he's travelling the world, home for Xmas, a water bottle that purifies and takes out bacteria! (It's what he wanted)! Penhaligon's fragrance, t-shirts, cash for his travels.

DS 9, new bike, soft toy, plasma ball, switch game, clothes, so far! Still not finished!

Statsquestion1 · 18/12/2025 18:22

@Sharptonguedwoman are you really that narrow minded to think that a woman can’t care about her appearance at the same time caring about what she does? FWIW I’m a scientist and I care about my appearance, I have a cousin who is a geological engineer she wears a hard hat to work yet her nails are done once a month, and her favourite colour is purple! What is actually wrong with you?

TheCommonWoMan · 18/12/2025 18:23
