I haven’t seen one of these thread yet this year and with lots of “help need ideas for…” type posts thought might be useful, plus I’m nosy and love hearing what everyone has bought their DC

(misers, moaners and the “DC should only gets a resource book, pair of socks and a satsuma” brigade need not comment.)

Three teenage girls 14, 17 & 18 was in my element shopping for them this year if I’m honest.

Phew all done, looking at this I think there is a gap in my youngest DD’s sack (like to keep things equal) so I’d love to read what you have all got your DC.

@Sharptonguedwoman are you really that narrow minded to think that a woman can’t care about her appearance at the same time caring about what she does? FWIW I’m a scientist and I care about my appearance, I have a cousin who is a geological engineer she wears a hard hat to work yet her nails are done once a month, and her favourite colour is purple! What is actually wrong with you?

Edited

Lots, probably. There's absolutely no reason to be rude. My favourite colour is red. I'm not sure what that says about anyone. Gently, I suppose I'm rebelling against the idea that one has to be perfect for so much of the time. That's all, enough now. Have a good evening.

31 yr old DD but I'm a girl who grew up with Lego and Meccano. It was more about the doing and not being. Your children sound lovely.

My DC were never interested in Lego and Meccano past Y3&4 but then their doing things are all outside, their ponies which they spend every waking hour (bar school) with.

@Allromanticsmeetthesamefate I'm not going to list DD19'd full stash because I just cant be arsed with the judgey comments.
As well as premium beauty products, needed due to her skin, the majority of her presents are Fairfax & Favor, LeMieux and Aztec Diamond. People say you should cut back at 18 but shes our only one, we work hard as does she and we don't get into any debt.
Hope you and your DD's have a fantastic Christmas 🎄.

Ooo we are not quite at the F&F point yet but this is the 1st year for a their Christmas hasn’t featured Holland Cooper!

WhyAreYouIkeThis · 18/12/2025 18:56

@goudaandserrano I love the idea of a main present and then a bunch of clue presents to help them guess! What a fun idea 😃

Wynter25 · 18/12/2025 19:02

Your presence is more important than all those presents. Didnt need to go mad

Samanabanana · 18/12/2025 19:03

Those poor girls, can't believe they're not all getting new show ponies for Christmas. Maybe next year, OP Grin

WhyAreYouIkeThis · 18/12/2025 19:07

I'm sorry OP I can't be bothered to write a List out but I love reading through other people's lists for ideas (and nosiness).
We also do table gifts! I got sick of the disappointing Christmas crackers and decided to sew some cute little gift bags out of Christmas fabric and put a little gift inside (sadly no iPhones though 😅) along with a joke and a silly hat.
We still end up getting the Christmas crackers now though because DC like pulling them..but that's how the table gifts tradition was born for us!

I feel bad for you OP, you're getting a hard time!
It's funny because when an OP posts asking people for any sort of information (or opinion) but doesn't include their info, the thread gets filled with "you first" type posts with people complaining that OP shouldn't be asking for people to share when they haven't shared themselves. But then you include your list for other people to read, and get accusations of boasting. You just can't win sometimes.

Butthechildrentheylovethebooks · 18/12/2025 19:13

CoralOP · 18/12/2025 09:38

Yey a real person indulging their children at Christmas instead of trying to teach them lessons and be as frugle at possible. I.e the majority of mumsnet vs every single person I've met in real life 🤣🤣

Agree! Life is tough for kids compared to when we all grew up. Obviously material things dont make up for everything, but if you cant spoil them at Christmas when can you!

Hellsbells35 · 18/12/2025 19:18

I’m really excited to give my parents a Storybox.life memory book gift. They get emailed a question each week about their life and reply with their story and any pictures. When complete they get a full colour hardback story of their life. A few different companies do them but Storybox is the only one based in the UK. Bought it here

Don't understand the 'being into' brands. It's very crass. A nice sweatshirt/jacket is a nice sweatshirt/jacket irrespective of what 'brand' it is 🙄

Its not crass, its buying DC what you know they will like! Theres a world of difference to a teenager between Nike (insert any other teen lusted after brand) and M&S (insert what you consider nice).

OP you can get snarky but those lists are insane. I can't imagine ever giving my kids so much stuff in one go. You must be able to see that your post is quite insensitive. There are thousands of posters on Mumsnet struggling to find the cash for one main present. There was really no need to share those lists.

Agreed 👏🏼 👏🏼 👏🏼

I don’t consider us to be Mr&Mrs Scrooge either.

RealReginaPhalange · 18/12/2025 19:44

I can’t believe you just sat down and wasted probably around half an hour to list each single item your DC are getting from you and grandparents 😳
