I haven’t seen one of these thread yet this year and with lots of “help need ideas for…” type posts thought might be useful, plus I’m nosy and love hearing what everyone has bought their DC

(misers, moaners and the “DC should only gets a resource book, pair of socks and a satsuma” brigade need not comment.)

Three teenage girls 14, 17 & 18 was in my element shopping for them this year if I’m honest.

This thread is frustrating as I keep coming back to read more lists as I love seeing what people have bought and instead it’s just a bunch of posts from miserable whingers. Thanks to those who are actually posting their lists!

I would quite like a table present!

I am another one who does stocking, sack and main present. Stocking is a rectangle sack from the card factory, bought when the dc were small, so well over 10 years ago. That is mainly filled with chocolate, sweets, snacks and a few things like bath bombs, rechargeable electric hand warmers, collectors coin from royal mint, vouchers for Greggs. Their sacks (which is a large reuseable snowman shopping bag) has 10 presents each, including clothes, new duvet set, shoe driers (they do a lot outdoors and always have wet shoes) lego, shaving stuff, toiletries etc. They have a main present each, dc 1 is having a gun for airsoft and dc 2 a gaming PC.

OP you can get snarky but those lists are insane. I can't imagine ever giving my kids so much stuff in one go. You must be able to see that your post is quite insensitive. There are thousands of posters on Mumsnet struggling to find the cash for one main present. There was really no need to share those lists.

Agreed. I am quite flush this year but wouldn’t dream of giving such a deluge of presents. The snarky responses to each challenge are quite telling.

I think what we can agree on is a distain for the posters who chose to ignore my disclaimer in OP, that this thread was about gift buying, present ideas and spoiling our children and if it wasn’t your thing to scroll on by (that’s a thing you can do btw when a thread doesn’t interest you or makes you feel a negative way) but instead decide to try and sap any ounce of joy and excitement from the rest of us.

You don't come across as awfully pleasant with these posts! We had horses as pets when I was a teen and my parents never saw it as anything to brag about. You come across as someone who just wants to make others feel inferior! People don't start posts like this because they don't want to kick people who haven't got the funds to give their kids much this Xmas!
People like you cause a lot of problems and upset for some families because kids like yours go to school and brag about getting thousands of pounds worth of branded crap and it makes other kids and parents feel like shit! All because mummy needs to feel posh and rich and above everybody else!
Why do they need an upgrade if their current phones are all working fine, it's a waste of money for phones that could get nicked, lost or broken when they go back to school etc after Christmas.
Im a traveller and a lot of my money goes on seeing the world with my partner and if we had kids I want them to have experiences in life, not a pile of branded crap that will go in draw somewhere.

Your kids are also at an age where they need to learn financial reality because when they leave home and get jobs, they won't be able to afford the luxury lifestyle you give them.

This is a good one, which manages to be nasty, patronising, superior and braggy at the same time.
With extra points because they haven't even got kids yet so are Building a little fantasy life about what fantastic parents they will be. We've all done that!

My partner I have never wanted kids! I'm not dreaming about kids, that life is your thing not mine! Do you think you sound like good parent material? You are being very abnormal about a very logical comment that says don't make other parents feel inferior or other kids feel like shit by bragging! How are you not human enough to understand that! It's decency! Out of interest, have posted nasty retorts to all the posters on here that criticised the bragging or did I trigger your hateful predjudices by admitting I don't have kids?

Most people won't posts lists because the OP posted the world's biggest brag! Not many people can compete with three kids getting thousands of pounds of designer goods and new phones for Christmas!! That post was obviously going to make a lot of people feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. The OP posted it wanting envy and admiration! She knew it would make most people feel too embarrassed to post! I bet she's insufferable over Christmas on social media!

As I said yesterday, I always love this thread (thanks OP) and in previous years they've been a wonderful way to get a bit of inspiration. This year I've actually been done a while so will just share my lists in hope they can do the same for someone else.

I should preface this and say both girls are autistic so lots of this stuff is related to their "special interests".

They are polite, kind, well mannered and thoughtful. They love planning surprises for other family members and find Christmas utterly magical.

I don't think how much or how little you get at Christmas is any indicator of who you are or who you will grow up to be. It's only once a year and I tend to think that collectively those other 364 days are probably more important.

@FlyingCatGirl I’m curious, as a women with no interest in having children who travels the world why you find yourself 6 days from Christmas so invested on a thread in a parenting forum asking other parents what they are getting their children for Christmas?

It’s ok to swipe by you know.

Like the OP, I am puzzled why you would come on this thread as you have stated you have no interest in children, so it's a bit of a puzzle why you would feel you have any skin in the game.
I can only assume you came on to share your superior attitude to something you don't do anyway?
Whatever. Crack on.

Here’s a thought for you @CraftyPlayer ANYTHING can be a thing within your own environment and routine if you choose.

A present, that we decided to wrap up and give to our children at the Christmas dinner table and suitably name a “table present” is a good example of this.
