We got a Tesco delivery booked for the 19th so that is our day

SparkleSpriteDust · 15/12/2025 14:36

Christmas Eve.

ComfortFoodCafe · 15/12/2025 14:36

Already have the meat in the freezer just need veg so whenever really.

Sunnyside4 · 15/12/2025 14:39

I've bought all non perishable items in advance. Planning to go on 23rd, that way we've got an extra day if something isn't available.

I8toys · 15/12/2025 14:41

21st tesco but will go to Marks probably day after

Focusispower · 15/12/2025 14:50

Do you know, I just pop into the local supermarket and buy what I need. Usually on 23 or 24 December. It’s busy but not awful. Only cooking for between 4-8 usually but it’s not been a problem to source what is needed and could definitely manage to get all that is required for double the number of people. We don’t go bonkers though!

My dad’s wife might often only be cooking for 3 people and yet will be one of the 5am crowd. Don’t get it at all.
Alcohol and snacks I would have already bought during December.

Christmas Eve.

Same here.

Boudy · 15/12/2025 14:56

Main shop online due 22nd. Smaller one from different shop also online 17th. Will also nip into local co op for a few bits, prob 23rd.

thegirlwithapearl · 15/12/2025 14:57

Whenever I get a chance between the 22nd and 25th. Only need sprouts, prawns and potatoes! I do like going to Tesco on Christmas eve though because they discount all the Christmas clothes, so sometimes I buy stuff for my children for next year.

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 15/12/2025 14:58

Got all joints in freezer.
Sainsburys delivery coming on 22nd.
Booked slot when they opened the Christmas slots.. nothing worse than navigating your way round a busy supermarket or waiting for hours to pay.

TeeBee · 15/12/2025 14:59

22nd probably. I'll be ambling round to our local butcher in the morning (who has tonnes of turkeys and hams available every year). I refuse to get stressed about food.

FourFiveEightNine · 15/12/2025 14:59

Barring accidents and unexpected events:

Ocado delivery on the 19th.

Riverford (fruit and veg) delivery on the 20th.

Will pick up my wine order probably on the 21st.

Final 2025 bakery / cheese order pick up maybe the 23rd. (Bakery closed from Christmas Eve until January 8th!)

Everything else already in hand.

Rubyupbeat · 15/12/2025 14:59

Sainsbury delivery on the 23rd

baubletime · 15/12/2025 15:00

Tesco shop is due on Sunday. Extras such as meat and pudding are from the butcher and marks and Spencer on Tuesday next week. My Tesco order has a usual weeks worth of food so it’s just some extras. Booze and party food bought today. They are in the fridge freezer in the garage.

Pineapplewaves · 15/12/2025 15:01

22nd or 23rd, can’t buy cream, dips, chilled party food etc until the last minute or it’ll be out of date, I want it to last until 27th.

Clefable · 15/12/2025 15:02

Tesco due on 22nd so time to get anything missing, butcher’s order collected on Christmas Eve.

Lindy2 · 15/12/2025 15:04

Click and collects booked for 22nd December. Tesco and Sainsburys. There was a Christmas food item I particularly wanted in each so that's why I've ended up with two. Luckily they are not too far away from each other. Hopefully that should then be all the Christmas shopping completely finished.

couldthisbe2501 · 15/12/2025 15:05

Farmers Market on the 23rd for all veg and ‘&S collection at 11.30 on the 24th!

I’ve already made my Jamie Oliver stuffing and get-ahead gravy along with my cranberry and apple sauces!

hyggetyggedotorg · 15/12/2025 15:05

I’ve been buying the non perishables as I go along, and we will go one evening this week to get the alcohol supplies. The fresh stuff I will probably initially try to get on Friday 19th, but I’m sure I’ll end up popping back in on 22nd/23rd too. I find doing it in stages keeps it more manageable.

Last year I was going mad trying to find coleslaw with a date more than 2 days away 😂.

I started the 5am thing because I used to have 3 children 4 and under so made sense to go and do the food shop before DH left for work - no way was I dragging 3 small children to the supermarket during christmas week!! Then when DD was about 4 she asked to come with me and so has been coming ever since - its her little tradition now and the years we are away for xmas so don't do the 5am shop she misses it!! She is off to Uni next year but no doubt she will still want to do the early shop!!

Ocado deliveries booked, all sorted 👏

Meadowfinch · 15/12/2025 15:12

The ham, chicken and smoked salmon are already in the freezer.

I'll shop for veggies, eggs, cream, milk, pigs in blankets etc on the 22nd. I'll make fresh bread on Christmas Eve.

Poodlelove · 15/12/2025 15:18

Have everything in the freezer.
But on the 23 rd I will buy extra veg if needed from mini supermarket on the corner

HansHolbein · 15/12/2025 15:44

I’ve done it all, prepped it and frozen it. I will only go out for fresh vegetables/fruit/pastries/milk/cream next week. Probably Tuesday.

Tdcp · 15/12/2025 15:47

I go on the 23rd around 1am usually though I have a young baby now so I might join you at 5am 😂
