Tesco delivery on 23rd

dailyconniptions · 15/12/2025 15:53

Most things are fine bought around 18-19th. Long dates on them. I never go later than that. I couldn't bear it. I have almost everything already. Just need meat, cream and fruit now.

Squirrelblanket · 15/12/2025 15:58

Very early on Friday 19th. We have guests staying that weekend and then we're visiting someone else on 22/23rd so it's either then or on Christmas Eve. And I'm not doing that!

Honeypizza · 15/12/2025 15:59

We'll do a big shop on 22nd in the evening.

gogomomo2 · 15/12/2025 16:00

As and when, shops are only closed for 2 days. Only a big roast

Cornishclio · 15/12/2025 16:01

Click and collect booked for 22nd

GlassofRosePorfavor · 15/12/2025 16:02

My Ocado delivery is on the 24th as usual for the last 13 years

ill pop to Lidl a few days before seeing anything tempts me and I have to say it usually does 😂

HorrorFan81 · 15/12/2025 16:03

Got it all booked to come on 23rd. My DH has organised it all so no idea whats arriving 😀

Norfolklass2428 · 15/12/2025 16:06

Ocado delivery booked for 20th

Farm shop order to collect on 23rd

I have non- perishables, I start buying those from late September onwards.

RememberHowYouMadeMeCrazy · 15/12/2025 16:07

We have deliveries on 20th and 23rd. If anything is missing, one of us will pop to a shop afterwards but usually everything arrives.

LemonsMakelimes · 15/12/2025 16:18

I always book an online shop for the 23rd because that gives me a day to sort stuff if something is missing. One year I booked it for the 24th and the delivery was about 5 hours late because the driver had broken down, then when it turned up there were about 10 items missing or with unsuitable substitutions. My veggie Mum and DH had no main course for Xmas day because the nut roast was missing and it was too late to get anything from anywhere else by the time we realised. That was the last year I shopped at Asda for Xmas as they let me down so badly (and barely apologised for the inconvenience) but I realised that in theory this could happen with any supermarket, so now I won't book for any later than the 23rd as then you can nip out 24th if needed. If 23rd isn't available then I'd go 22nd or 21st and go out xmas eve for anything that has a short date or missing.

However I won't ever intentionally step foot in a supermarket on the 23rd, my DH used to work in supermarkets and says it was always absolutely heaving on the 23rd and the M&S near me puts up gazebos outside to protect customers from the rain because there are queues out the door. By the 24th things have normally calmed down and the mad rush is over, most people have everything sorted by then.

sweetpickle2 · 15/12/2025 16:18

23rd or 24th. It's never been that busy- although I will admit I go alone.

Not to be that person, but unless you're cooking for about 20 people and staying nowhere near civilisation for a week I just don't understand the military operation some people make the food shop into!

LemonsMakelimes · 15/12/2025 16:19

Oh and I've also been getting store cupboard stuff since October, adding a little bit to the shop each week when I see stuff on offer have had to replace kids chocolate coins about 5 times over though

Hedjwitch · 15/12/2025 16:23

Don't do a big shop as such. Will just get what I need as I go along.

Sainsbury delivery on the 23rd

Me too

CalliopePlantain · 15/12/2025 16:31

Mine is already done. Just have to pick up the fresh bits on Xmas eve.

whatsnewpussycat34 · 15/12/2025 16:34

And more importantly, when is the Christmas fridge thread starting?

This is what we're all eagerly awaiting (I'm not even being sarcastic here, I genuinely love seeing other people's! Someone please tag me if you see it!)

I love the Xmas fridge thread too. 😂 I think it’ll be this time next week.

Peridot1 · 15/12/2025 17:05

Ocado delivery on 23rd. But one coming tomorrow too and some non perishable stuff is in that.

If anything major doesn’t arrive on 23rd I can nip out and get it.

Brendahollowayjustlookwhatyouhavedone · 15/12/2025 17:08

18 th Asda (20%staff discount day 😁
Fruit ,veg 23rd.

StruggleFlourish · 15/12/2025 17:09

I work in a grocery store and I hate December 23rd. It's the busiest day of the year.

MoreIcedLattePlease · 15/12/2025 17:09

Picking up the M&S food order on the 23rd. We will also be spending some vouchers in store on party food, fresh bread etc whilst collecting.

Sainsbury's delivery coming to home on the 24th.

We will be out for breakfast on Christmas Eve, so if anything is unavailable when we get our order email first thing in the morning, we can nip into Waitrose to grab things last minute if needs be.

Nearly all our non-perishables/long dated items are already in the house as I add one or two things to the shopping from early November until now and buy from various supermarkets through the period to get things at the best prices, e.g. have 4 tubes of Pringles which we bought from Tesco at only £1.25 each which is ridiculously cheap these days!

EllaPaella · 15/12/2025 17:12

M&S slot booked for the 23rd

farmlass · 15/12/2025 17:18

Click and collect on 22nd after an early work finish .
Not done that before but it’s only 5 mins out of my way home .
Going to start doing it once a fortnight from the New Year .
£2 for someone else to do the shopping .
Why haven’t I done it before ?
