Thread 20 - the one with Christmas?

Reastie · 11/12/2025 17:59

I'm taking a punt that this one might see us until Christmas. Will likely live to be proved wrong but let's go with the punt!

The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

@Gettingthereslowly1 i assume you have a 15-16 year old daughter :) Scuffers only did a v small discount on Black Friday, I think they said at the time it was the only time they ever discounted but I’ve just seen 10% if you sign up to newsletter on their website. Brace yourself though, shipping is £10 or so. Not sure about UO, the thing I needed (Iets Frans Harris) are again never discounted!

CatRash · 17/12/2025 00:26

In case it anyone has missed it on Bloom & Wild the code "jinglebells25" gets you 25% off lots of gifts and seems to stack with the referral £15 and £5 credit (see referral thread).

I can’t get this to stack. Was it done in a certain order?

Do you have a link to the one you got please? Been looking for something like this.

I haven't bought one but this has good reviews - amzn.eu/d/fkHbEoH

GiddyDog · 17/12/2025 05:27

@VikingNorthUtsire it's just a generic one from Amazon the brand was Azorpa and it uses and app called Frameo. I got it on prime day last year for around £35.

Cmini · 17/12/2025 05:36

@jumpinghoops@Gettingthereslowly1I had 20% birthday discount with UO and despite T&Cs clearly saying they were excluded, it worked on the Harris! This was a couple of weeks ago though so they may have caught onto it.

this is a great game for anyone looking for a game to play at Christmas - really good for a group too!
You get 2 socks filled with small items - probably about 20 different things, a timer and a spinner - spin to reveal what item to search for - no peaking, and you have a minute to feel for it - great for all ages.
And a good price too!

My Sweetzy order arrived yesterday- I had paid the extra 50p for faster delivery as I wasn't sure what I was going to do with all the various bits so wanted it sooner rather than later so I could decide. I got a dispatch email and tracking emails.

Now it's here I think the kids (year 4, 9yo) can have the Baubles for their school friends as a little gift, and I'll give the crackers to my nieces (early 20's) and their partners alongside the usual cash.

I'll give one bag of pick n mix to a friend, one bag to my girls to share as part of their Christmas gift and then keep the 500g mix bag for us to use ad hoc!

44PumpLane · 17/12/2025 07:23

Also, thanks for those who gave me ideas for Pusheen- I got a donut plush from HMV (last Pusheen thing in store) and a Pusheen water bottle from Claires for only £7, nothing in Miniso.

I ordered some badges, a poster book and some stickers on Amazon and now on the hunt for a tee but think I'm just going to order the Next one to be on the safe side.

Next request .....craft sets for a 9year old that isn't too messy?! I was hoping for sand art but the stuff in Amazon all feels too childish.

Fuckingfuckssake · 17/12/2025 07:38

Thanks @EvilHerbivorei’ll check them out

Any recommendations for men’s size 10 trainers with good arch support please? The recipient has plantar fasciitis. Cheaper the better please!

Vionic are great but £££, alternatively buy regular trainers he will like and supportive insoles.

When I had PF after pregnancy I used insoles in all my shoes

The Works are great for art sets for all ages, they might have a kit?

IlovePond · 17/12/2025 07:54

Morning all, just a reminder to keep an eye on your Amazon orders. If, like me, you’ve been ordering quite a lot, it’s easy to lose track. I’ve been patiently waiting for an expensive order- it got as far as my local area - then nothing.

I contacted Amazon this morning - looks like it’s been ‘lost’. An earlier order also went missing at this centre and one of our delivery guys told us that theft was so bad at this distribution hub that he’d started asking people to open their parcels in front of him so as not to get the blame if things had been taken.

I guess what I am trying to say is to chase up parcels if ‘delayed’ and check the contents on arrival - particularly if your box looks a bit ‘damaged’.

I’m now left wondering what to do for a replacement!

44PumpLane · 17/12/2025 07:55

Thanks @BarryKentPoet I went in The Works yesterday and annoyingly they had some great little sets but they were thematically "wrong" 🙄

AuDHD child so if it's not within the colour pallet of rainbows and fairies and magic it won't get used. The stuff they had in was all pretty autumnal colours or space themed.

I might try a different store in case other shops have another option.

fishfingersandchipsagain · 17/12/2025 07:59

Thank you @CarrotVan @User202242 @GiddyDog @LadyPene Some great ideas. Unfortunately they already have a digital photo frame, and new towels, and they are definitely more Eastenders than National Theatre.

highly recommend the klutz craft sets. Lots on Amazon and come with everything you need. We had lots over the years.

It looks like they’ve changed the bloom and wild referral to £10 off now

Another vote for Klutz, they have always gone down well in the last with my dc (they are a bit older now but dd2 would probably still like the clay or friendship bracelet sets). There are a few on offer on Amazon. They have some dragon and HP sets too as well as lots of pink sets. Another thing my dd had fun with was the Hama beads space themed set.

I wonder if that's why I've not had mine sent to email yet? I signed up last night & nothing yet.

Makes things less appealing, as the flowers don't look that full to start with. I'll probably be better with M&S.

CarrotVan · 17/12/2025 08:41

@IlovePond similar here with Yodel. All other delivery firms are fine but the Yodel hub has very sticky fingered staff.

CarrotVan · 17/12/2025 08:46

@fishfingersandchipsagain At different points of limited mobility and much TV watching my mum really benefited from an armchair organiser for the remote, snacks, tissues, medication; a table organiser (similar but books, address/phone books, her prayer book and communion things, anything that she wanted to keep close); a lap tray; blanket for her legs; footstools

niknaks1989 · 17/12/2025 09:34

Can anyone kindly pass me an Argos discount code if one is going spare?

Chocolateteabag · 17/12/2025 09:38

Oooh my LIDL advent calendar for today is Terrys Chocolate Oranges for £1! Valid for a couple of days
not sure if everyone gets the same offer each day or not?

QVC CODES

Here is a link to the current QVC codes https://www.qvcuk.com/content/promotion-details.html

I am not suggesting anyone should get into debt buying things they can't afford for Xmas, but, if it helps to spread the cost, they are offering 4 interest free instalments on "everything" (not sure if there are exclusions) for orders between 16th-20th Dec and are promising delivery in time for Xmas. Code for that is ALL4EZ and the details are at the link. The T&C for their other codes are also at the link.
Their offers are here: https://www.qvcuk.com/content/christmas-gifts/gifts-on-offer.html including Elemis, Neom etc

I have 20% off flowers and plants at M&S on my Sparks - sorry if you already know this - so I've sent M&S flowers this year as the cheapest are reduced to £20 which is better than Bloom & WIld.
The only exception is one person who got B&W flowers because I converted my Tesco Clubcard vouchers at 2 for 1 to get a B&W voucher code.
