Thread 20 - the one with Christmas?

I'm taking a punt that this one might see us until Christmas. Will likely live to be proved wrong but let's go with the punt!

The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

@SpottyBumPonythank you!!! Nuts could be a really good shout - and easy to get hold of!!!!

I don't know how old your kids are but try H&M 14+ size, they have some sets under a tenner and might be big enough (roughly equivalent to mens small)

I’ve had my dispatch email for Sweetzy so hoping it’s here tomorrow! Thanks to whoever mentioned the bloom and wild idea a few pages ago, I hadn’t thought of the other gifts on that website but after the suggestion, I used a referral code to order afternoon tea for some family members that live further away. Great idea!

Itsfridaynightok · 16/12/2025 19:03

Oh what was the bloom and wild offer ?

Probably the referral deal which gets £10 off a range of gifts? Lots of them on the other thread!

Poirot puzzle book (newest version) down to £6.80 on Amazon

Any thoughts on where can I get an office / computing / gaming chair that's decent quality but doesn't cost the earth?

I bought one today in my local Aldi for £39.99! The box is huge just about got it along the back seat of my car 😅

There are referral codes on the other thread that give you £15 off. I got afternoon tea for 2 which should be £25 inc delivery for £10!

I’m completely stuck for ideas for a couple in their early 80s. £50ish, joint present. I already have other bits for them individually. They don’t particularly have any hobbies. Tend to watch a lot of TV. Not particularly mobile. Don’t enjoy puzzles or board games. Both have shaky hands so jigsaws/lego/crafts are out. Diabetic and weight issues so chocolate/cheese/alcohol is out.

CarrotVan · 16/12/2025 20:37

@fishfingersandchipsagain how about a subscription to National Theatre Online? Brilliant theatre as a streaming service

Bit of a random one, I need to buy a “luxury” food gift for a diabetic, any ideas??

Another possibility for a diabetic, something like cheesies. They are really nice, zero carbs and a couple of options for number of packs

Nuts, Pate, Cheese are all low carbon. I'd avoid anything named Diabetic as its probably full of sweeteners

Pork scratchings? My brother is type 1 and asks for them every year.

Sorry, this was for @Yeknom

Any recommendations for men’s size 10 trainers with good arch support please? The recipient has plantar fasciitis. Cheaper the better please!

PearlTeapot · 16/12/2025 21:18

I would be very grateful for a White Company discount code please for ladies cashmere socks (£40) or anywhere else that sells some lovely ones.

thank you 🤩

Gettingthereslowly1 · 16/12/2025 21:18

Has anyone seen any discounts for Scuffers and Urban Outfitters please?

What about a WiFi photo frame to update pictures for them if they are likely to like that type of thing?

@fishfingersandchipsagain second this, we got one for MIL last year and she loves it, can give the login details to other family members so everyone can update the photo remotely and she gets to see what all the grandkids are up to.

It's not exciting, but a nice towel bundle? Who doesn't love the feel of new towels. I picked up a really nice william morris print one from the marks and spencer sale a few weeks ago and hoping my recipient thinks it's a treat.

Lidlisthebusiness · 16/12/2025 22:21

@Yeknom I'm Type 1 and food I would appreciate would be something in a quality dark chocolate. I could also eat multiple bags of Finest Hickory nuts from Tesco, not total luxury but it includes macadamia which are a bit, or caramelised almonds. Any of the Fortnum & Mason 'lossus' biscuits! Though if they're insulin controlled, they should be able to eat anything as long as they adjust for it. I'm also celiac and vegetarian, so it makes things quite tricky with food!

Lidlisthebusiness · 16/12/2025 22:24

@Bingaloes will be buying those cheese snacks for myself, thank you!

Do you have a link to the one you got please? Been looking for something like this.
