Thread 20 - the one with Christmas?

Reastie · 11/12/2025 17:59

I'm taking a punt that this one might see us until Christmas. Will likely live to be proved wrong but let's go with the punt!

The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread here and share around the joy/referral perks.

Anyone know any codes for Dishoom? Saw the perfect set for somebody on Anthropologie but now it’s £50 minimum spend to use the voucher and they won’t dispatch it until after Christmas

Or any alternative nice/posh chilli type sauces or chutneys - not the garish ‘blow your head off’ packaging ones

Its for a lady in her 60s who likes adventurous/spicy food, ideally around £15

Chocolateteabag · 14/12/2025 14:54

Start Fitness have an eBay outlet which does good deals on running accessories (& trainers etc), with free P&P and EBay currently have a 20% code on lots of shops

So for example this Ronhill Beanie & gloves will be £20.72 posted vs £25.46 on their main website (plus Topcashback which may also track)

@PersisFord - was an idea for your brother but then see you have another idea
or maybe it was @IlovePond

its easier to search on the Start fitness website and then go and find it on the eBay site
All still saying they will arrive next week

Running gloves are always useful for runners just check the sizes - You end up needing a fresh pair for each run - They’ve also got lots of running socks and ski socks great stocking filler ideas

Chocolateteabag · 14/12/2025 14:58

Sorry getting confused between @PersisFord’s running brother and @IlovePond’s DS

was also going to suggest underpants @IlovePond- Oddballs longer length bamboo ones? Don’t think anyone doesn’t need new pants now and then!

buckeejit · 14/12/2025 14:59

Very late to the party but does anyone know if B&M are doing the red velvet initial sacks this year? Thanks 😁

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 14/12/2025 15:01

@buckeejit B&M had red sacks today with gold initials on but not a huge choice in my local store

IlovePond · 14/12/2025 15:06

Thanks @Chocolateteabag - pants are a good call. I already have some bargainous ones for him acquired in the last M&S winter sale and that squirrelled away for this year!

User202242 · 14/12/2025 15:06

Real life bargains for coffee lovers in Tesco!

Home Bargains also have initial sacks, as long as you have a more unusual name that begins with Y or Z. OHS Online had the B&M ones, but again only a few initials.

I have to throw myself on your collective mercy as I've been so unwell with awful flu and have been struggling just to get through the days....then today I woke up feeling better and have realised its nearly Christmas! I have bought almost nothing after a strong start and it will all have to be online. Please can anyone help with!

My sister who likes fancy makeup, the gym, silver jewellery. £20 budget due to stupid family rules set by my parents which makes it all MUCH HARDER.

My brother who likes running and coffee. Ditto budget.

13 year old nephew who likes drama and singing. £15 budget for him (even worse)

10 year old nephew who likes football to the exclusion of all else. £15 budget.

Sister: Clinique black honey almost lipstick/lipbalm and the Elizabeth Arden eight hour face cream that's always on Amazon for about £8. Clinique overnight moisture surge mask is also a good shout and pretty much bang on £30 on offer.

Brother: Tiki Tonga Guinness coffee recommended previously or whole budget on some nice locally roasted beans (check whole bean or ground before buying for both!).

Nephew who likes football: a football (size 5) or football socks. Can never have too many.

Drama nephew: national theatre live at home one month subscription and a bag of nice popcorn.

IlovePond · 14/12/2025 12:35

Thank you all so much for your ideas - lots of food for thought!

Thanks for the Qwertee reminder @SugarCookieMonster - he has ordered from there before so that is definitely a possibility. He does live at home, (too busy globetrotting to consider moving out 😹), so I might take some pictures of his more obscure t-shirts to see if I can identify where they come from re: anime, etc.

I’m quite ‘up’ on that sort of thing courtesy of older DS, but PondJunior is remarkably secretive about his likes/dislikes for reasons best known to himself!

Cable tie storage and/or something for his travels are also good ideas and yet another water bottle might stop him nicking mine!

I really do appreciate everyone’s help - thanks again x

How about a personalised Lego figure looking like him and one of the Lego postcards of somewhere he has been? Not sure on budget but I think that's likely £30-40ish.

The contigo ones are recommended a lot on here and Amazon often have for about £8. I have one and rate it highly for being leak proof but it's so well insulated the coffee stays piping hot for ages which I don't always like. If you want coffee to cool quicker I really rate the Waitrose/John lewis plastic travel mugs that are usually about £6 and fit in standard car cupholders.

IlovePond · 14/12/2025 15:54

Sounds cool @Wowsersbrowsers !

I really want a yeti tumbler as lots of people I work with have these and recommend them. Not seem any discounts though (so holding on in hope somewhere does a January sale reduction).

handmademitlove · 14/12/2025 16:10

@IlovePond I understand how tricky it can be - my DD is autistic and hates presents she hasn't asked for, but doesn't "need" anything so there is nothing on her list to Santa.... She's 21!

Real life bargains for coffee lovers in Tesco!

This is probably a daft question, but are they with the other coffees and teas? The tesco near me is massive so know I'll miss it if I'm not careful. Thanks

ChristmasMad1 · 14/12/2025 16:24

CatRash · 14/12/2025 08:33

I'm case anyone missed it BubbleT still have the face mask gift set for £9.99 and you can get £10 off using a referral link (I've popped mine on the referral thread 🤞).

I received mine yesterday and it's great! I'm splitting between stockings/mini hampers and it's a shame to open the packaging as it's very nicely presented.

Also saw this which would make a nice gift - https://bubbletcosmetics.com/collections/gifts/products/hybrid-serum-skincare-gift-set

Down from £14.99 to £6.99

The referral isn't working for either of those the advent calendar nor the gift set

WimbyAce · 14/12/2025 16:28

Haven't been on for a while as been so busy! Mountain Warehouse have a good sale on, free delivery and MID20 takes an extra 20% off. I got a 2 pack of leggings for £3.99 and got our daughter a lightweight jacket for £7.99.

Last minute Christmas request… can anyone find me a really good rucksack style bag that is very bargainous?

Sorry! It would really help if I had mentioned it is for my mother. Something reasonably big but ideally a nice brand / style that will make her feel like it’s a treat

Justkeepsmilingx · 14/12/2025 16:53

TK MAXX

Free click and collect with no minimum spend this weekend.

No, they were in the Christmas gift aisle! X

Justkeepsmilingx · 14/12/2025 18:06

Thanks to the kind person who used my bubble t referral

fishfingersandchipsagain · 14/12/2025 18:47

Tesco have a load of beauty gifts that are “better than half price” but also 3for2.

So in most cases it’s the equivalent of 3 for 1 compared to original price.

includes e.g.

Original Source gift set with the Oddballs boxers (down to 9.50, so £6.33 a pack if you were buying 3. Original price £20 each.)

Lynx body wash and body spray set (down to £3.50, so £2.33 each if buying 3. Original price £9 each.)

Dove hand cream gift set (down to £3.55, so £2.37 each if buying 3. Original price £7.50 each.). I thought these might be nice teacher presents if anyone is still looking.

I second the Cognito mugs. I have two and use them for my 4am coffee (decaf) and sometimes during the day too. I’ve had them for more than a year and each one is washed at least alternate days in the dishwasher. The colour is beginning to come off one of them but I think that’s not bad for the price verses the amount of use they get.
