Thread 13 - the one with a cheesy advent calendar of 67 jumpers

Reastie · 29/11/2025 20:25

Decided to combine both thread title suggestions :)

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for helping me out and I'm so excited that I was on my computer and she tagged me so I could set this one up - hurrah!

Feeling super festive today after getting the decorations up and visiting Father Christmas. Exciting news is the Christmas bedding and jumpers are all down from the loft and being washed, so I'll soon be able to walk around in my 'I [heart] Christmas' jumper Xmas Grin

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.
Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

Did anyone buy anything from Elizabeth and Scarlett in the Black Friday sale? I ordered 2 Christmas presents 11 days ago - order said 3-5 working days and not even had a shipped notification yet. I’ve emailed but I’m pretty sure the customer service is just AI as you get a reply immediately that is just generic and tells you nothing!

PinkPanther27 · 04/12/2025 09:13

@Slowlyslowlysurely I can't see it in stock anywhere online unfortunately. It might be worth ringing round those local stockists who don't have websites and seeing if they'll post one to you. I'm near Norwich and would be happy to collect one for you if there are any nearby.

Serenitesanta · 04/12/2025 09:20

Did you all see the 12 days of Christmas thingy that The Entertainer is doing, it’s an advent calendar thing.
Todays is 25% off Gabby’s dollhouse toys

Silverstag · 04/12/2025 09:24

@Slowlyslowlysurelythey had one last week in a shop called Vinegar Hill in Stratford Upon Avon. They have a few shops so might be worth giving them a call to see if they have any left.

Could anyone recommend a nice jewellery box brand?

I have a Stackers I have one and love it as you can get extra layers and other accessories when needed. DH bought me a lid and 3 trays to start with and now I have 6 of various depths and sizes including an earring tray and a special insert for Pandora beads (I have a lot!)

OnAStarryNight · 04/12/2025 09:42

Thank you to the person who posted the Hotel Chocolat advent calendars. We're so behind on Christmas prep after all being struck down with winter flu bugs, I thought they'd be sold out everywhere but now we have nicer ones than usual! Managed to get an extra 10% off the basket by Googling voucher codes as well!

Can anyone recommend any affordable chocolate for a chocolate fountain? I read it can’t be just any chocolate ideally

Cheap chocolate is best apparently as it has a higher fat content which helps it flow around the fountain and not go all clumpy. I have used the cheapest supermarket ones and it worked fine. My party guests were more concerned about what they were dipping in the fountain than the quality of chocolate anyway.

PairOfPennies · 04/12/2025 09:56

Late to the party with Fahlo- are they appreciated by 13-16 year olds? The type who keep Up with latest trends- RL, longchamp etc . Need to buy ‘token’ gifts for this age group, but worried that only cool stuff will be appreciated.

rhubarbhandsoap · 04/12/2025 09:57

@Mads96 it’s because melted chocolate seizes up and won’t flow after a while. You can buy ‘fountain chocolate’, or you can just melt regular chocolate and add coconut oil or cream to stop it resetting. (Search chocolate fountain recipes for quantities).

I wouldn't say so. What about Laneige lip masks instead?

Did you get a shipping email from Fahlo first, or not?

No shipping email from Fahlo - just a reply to my email a couple of days ago, asking me to be patient. Then the one from RM last night.
Don't thin k I'd buy from Fahlo again. They can't seem to keep up with demand.

Daimyum · 04/12/2025 08:15

Not at all. I the first one I bought about 2 months ago was here after 4 ish days. The latest, after about a week. I think it was royal mail

Mine took a few weeks to come, I was getting worried! But they turned up a couple of days ago.

I’m about to buy a Hotel Chocolat advent calendar that I don’t need, but I have no vouchers or rewards. Any codes for free delivery or even a little reduction to justify it to myself?

Also a present query. My Dad, mid 70s, loves learning things etc. bought every “experience” under the sun. I thought of Smart Mushrooms gifts where you can grow fancy lion’s mane or coloured edible mushrooms. They’re 3 for 2 atm but still £20-£25 each so an expensive mistake if they’re not up to much. Anyone had any experience of them? Alternatives?
Thank you.

@beadyboo WEL-AW3K3W7SZW hotel Chocolat 15% off code

They're on TopCashBack too, so go through that first.

ETA: thanks @juicyjellybaby for posting about the reduction!

I bought one of the 3 Boots star gift sets mentioned upthread today for which you get £10 worth of points as today’s Advent offer.

Adding the code GLAMOUR got £5 off, so it was £39.95, but ‘worth’ £137 according to them.

However, the £10 worth of points was all I got, not the standard 3 points for £1 as well. It also didn’t give me the double points I’d loaded onto my card.

Still, 11 of their “Pro” beauty items for less than £30 seemed fair enough.

I got caught with those offered before - it’s not an additional £10, they basically round up whatever points you would have got to the £10.

It was in their store in Windsor but it’s online too (see pic)

If you do buy a kit, make sure you keep them in a fridge and your dad does the same until he’s ready to grow them!

my husband bought me the mushroom dowels you put into logs for my birthday - I didn’t put them in the fridge and they grew a weird mush in the bag! Quite an expensive mistake and zero mushrooms to enjoy 😂

Mine would say definitely not. Boys or girls? Budget?
