Thread 13 - the one with a cheesy advent calendar of 67 jumpers

Reastie · 29/11/2025 20:25

Decided to combine both thread title suggestions :)

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for helping me out and I'm so excited that I was on my computer and she tagged me so I could set this one up - hurrah!

Feeling super festive today after getting the decorations up and visiting Father Christmas. Exciting news is the Christmas bedding and jumpers are all down from the loft and being washed, so I'll soon be able to walk around in my 'I [heart] Christmas' jumper Xmas Grin

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.
Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

@Sminty2 Thank you so much for the recommendation, one is on the way to me now, and than fully at yesterdays Black Friday price as it’s already another £13 more expensive today!

Burnnoticed · 02/12/2025 17:24

Thank you for the good suggestion, we have one already but great idea for others 🎄

resistance band (expect he may well have that too though)🙂

dumbbell handle

cherrybobbins · 02/12/2025 17:43

Did anyone order the football tops from a previous thread? I’m having a moment and know I ordered 2 but now I can’t find an email or remember the name of the company 🤦‍♀️

I know asking for recommendations here is a bit of a faux pas but I’m looking for golf toys for an 18m-2year old. Does such a thing exist?

I’m just thinking of choking hazards really but if anyone can recommend anything good for older children that is probably safe under supervision I’d love recommendations too

We got Gator Golf at that age, but its just a game and the 'hole' is the gator! But my LB loves it!

IlovePond · 02/12/2025 17:57

The good news:
The bargain cheese calendar has arrived!

The bad news:
DH didn’t tell me it had come and left it out for 2.5 hours.

It SEEMS ok. Have just eaten Day One as an experiment so we shall see…😹

Day Two was nice.

My parcels from York fitness on the way as well after someone posted the great deal on a weight bench and weights on here. Thsnk you for the deal and idea.
Any other ideas for a 13 year old who is keen on weights/ calisthenics. We have quite a bit of stuff anyway but ideas for gifts would be much appreciated.

That was me! Mine has arrived and is hiding in the cupboard - looks great so far. Box is v heavy though!

DS also has these on his list (we also have resistance bands and a pull-up bar already):

@IlovePond ..so glad it arrived!

I asked earlier if anyone's had arrived as I am curious about the size of the bits of cheese.

Think I may have messed up my Christmas Eve Buffet !!

Were they mouthful sizes ?
Could you post a picture ?
Thank you .

Ps .did you get any chutney as well ?

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 02/12/2025 18:09

Thanks for the pokemon paper suggestions, I did really want christmas paper as its from Santa.

IlovePond · 02/12/2025 18:17

Hi @bizzey - I will post a picture of tomorrow’s offering tomorrow. Day one was a small round cheese in wax - it was about 2” by 1” at a wild guess. (I can measure tomorrow.)

It was just about enough for me to have two teeny tiny pieces and for DH to put the rest on one half of a piece of bread, (but tbf he did cut the cheese quite thickly.)

Day two was the tiniest jar of chutney ever seen but it tasted lovely!

I think you could use the cheese for a buffet but it would depend on how thinly you cut each piece and how many people were eating. You could easily wolf down a few each, assuming you were a cheese fan!

I am finding the whole concept of trying random cheeses very exciting! (Today’s cheese was definitely interesting!)

Thank you @IlovePond .
I have ordered 2 advent calendars and 3 i think proper sized jars of chutney.

4 of us here and I have a serious cheeseaholic DS 😅😅🤣!

We love trying new ones.

My young teen son has asked for an oodie-type hoodie for Christmas - I suspect he will only wear it a few times, so think will try the supermarkets/primark first! On the off chance anyone has seen nice ones in RL I thought I'd mention it.
I've had lots of bargains from this thread, thank you to everyone

Online home store.
I got my teen son one from there last yr.

shash1982 · 02/12/2025 18:55

Disappointed with today's £10 Tuesday offerings at Boots.

I did collect the no7 gift set I ordered last week in the £10 deal, looks great for the price, thats a gfft sorted.

Going real life shopping at the weekend, wish me luck! 😬

Someone mentioned a site where you could post a picture of something and they will try and find another for you?
I have a scarf and a friend who is desperate to find one the same.
I've tried looking online with no joy, so thought I'd ask on here.

IlovePond · 02/12/2025 19:21

@zacsGranny - are you thinking of the FB site called something like little blue cup? If so, I think they specialise in finding items for children - it started because someone’s child would/could only drink out of a certain cup and then it got discontinued. The site helps find things like that for kids. I don’t know if they look for other things - someone on here will know.

Or is it a different site you’re thinking of? It sounds like a good idea!

Have you tried taking a picture of your scarf and then using Google Lens to find either it, or a similar one?

Ah yes, that was it.
I'll try Google Lens.

QueenOfThorns · 02/12/2025 19:33

Can I please say a HUGE thank you to whoever posted about the escape room advent calendar (probably several threads ago now!), it’s such a fun idea! DD and I are very proud because we have managed the first two doors without resorting to any clues Smile

Puffalicious · 02/12/2025 20:05

Mh cheese has been dispatched- calendar (very late!) & 5 truckles. Calendar for Ex-H, so he'll just need to wait 🤣.

Anyone got wind of the popcorn? No word here.

For the user asking about the football strips it could be Jersey4fans.com

I ordered weeks & weeks ago & just got a dispatch email yesterday. Hopefully they'll arrive before Christmas!

Teensknowitall · 02/12/2025 20:17

Not sure if it’s been posted already but until 23:59 tonight using the code CYBER20 there is 20% off Etsy up to maximum £10 discount. Hope this helps someone 😀

pinkchampagne1 · 02/12/2025 20:18

Got my cheese calendar delivered today, just in time for my Dad’s birthday. 😊

Thanks! I'll have a look 😊

This is £50 for a second hand one. But I have at least resigned to coping with a second hand one, knowing it parps out sand, as opposed to something, well... gloopy. Just needs to have all the bits present.

Plus, I have further flamingo news...

Following DS banging on about this bastard, bastard, bastard flamingo, DD now wants one too.

Marvellous.

Send gin.
