Thread 13 - the one with a cheesy advent calendar of 67 jumpers

1000 replies

Reastie · 29/11/2025 20:25

Decided to combine both thread title suggestions :)

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for helping me out and I'm so excited that I was on my computer and she tagged me so I could set this one up - hurrah!

Feeling super festive today after getting the decorations up and visiting Father Christmas. Exciting news is the Christmas bedding and jumpers are all down from the loft and being washed, so I'll soon be able to walk around in my 'I [heart] Christmas' jumper Xmas Grin

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.
Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

Just had a dispatch notice for Fahlo bracelet. I ordered on 25/11 🙂

Any recommendations for a interactive Robot toy to suit a five year old please

The V-Tech 5 in 1 robot from Smyths (£14.99 at the moment). My 6 year old loves it. Comes with different feet and arms that do different things and it pulls along a little wagon. It responds to claps and you can play games with it. Fitting the arms and legs is a bit fiddly but once they're on they can play pretty independently.

SugarCookieMonster · 02/12/2025 14:55

I've had an epic fail with the cheese calendar. I realised I didn't use the right code so paid £20ish for it. (Don't shop at midnight!). Had buyers remorse and did a web chat yesterday to see if I was in time to cancel. I was not. It was sent with DPD out for delivery today but now has been delayed in transit.

Does anyone know how long it'll be ok out of the fridge or if it is sent in temp regulating packaging??

Worried that because I asked if I could cancel they'll think I'm being cheeky and scamming if I claim it hasn't arrived!!

Mokeytree · 02/12/2025 15:02

Google seems to suggest 4-8 hours depending on type of cheese. Though they may be delivered with refrigeration?? As how do they transport cheese in general.
You'd have the messages from the delivery company about the delays though I guess as proof.

Mokeytree · 02/12/2025 15:06

There wasn't a code for the calendar.

Boots have this Bulldog set for £20.50

the No7 for £23.50, quite a few on Boots atm,

Arregaithel · 02/12/2025 15:24

Star gifts better than half price at Boots

bizzey · 02/12/2025 15:28

Those who are familiar with Chuckling Cheese or who have received their order.

I bought the advent calendar x 2 .
Not as Advent Calendar, but food for the buffet table .

Are they pieces of bite sized cheese !! Or are they big enough to cut a couple of bits out of ?

Think this my be my big buying regret!

Looking forward to the Chutney though 😅😅

bizzey · 02/12/2025 15:30

I set delivery for the 15 th .

So that gives me an 8 day leeway for delay .

Arregaithel · 02/12/2025 15:30

sillygoof · 02/12/2025 10:24

Has anyone seen any good reductions on advent calendars yet? I’d love a ferrero one if cheap enough, and non food ones for next year.

in B&M for £7 @sillygoof

and others

TheCryingTheBitchAndTheFloordrobe · 02/12/2025 12:31

@LabubuLoverare you sure there’s an actual sugarplum plush? The plush that comes with the book seems to be a reindeer called ‘Clove’?

Yes, there definitely was a centre parcs branded one. However, thank you @Broken12 and @Famousthehero , the jellycat might work as a substitute. I’ll hold out in case the Facebook group can help 🙏

Burnnoticed · 02/12/2025 15:51

My young teen son has asked for an oodie-type hoodie for Christmas - I suspect he will only wear it a few times, so think will try the supermarkets/primark first! On the off chance anyone has seen nice ones in RL I thought I'd mention it.
I've had lots of bargains from this thread, thank you to everyone

It normally comes with ice packs like a Gusto box so it should be ok for a day or so.

Don’t worry about letting them know if it doesn’t arrive in good condition/is significantly delayed. They’ll be able to see the tracking so they’ll know you’re not trying it on.

IlovePond · 02/12/2025 16:40

My cheese is apparently round the corner, wending its way to me through surburbia - I shall believe it when I see it. Goodness knows if it will still be edible if it’s been on the van since 7am, (which was the start of DPD’s delivery window for me🙀)

CarrotVan · 02/12/2025 16:42

thank you to whoever suggested the Degusta advent calendar some threads back. So far the items have been excellent - a full size box of Monty Bojangles chocolates and a full size tin of interesting coffee (with a money off purchase voucher)

SugarCookieMonster · 02/12/2025 16:45

@rrrrrreatt thank you so much! That’s put my mind at rest.

Also HUGE thank you to whoever posted about the Temu keyrings of kids drawings. I took a punt for a little add on for the grandparents and they are fantastic! DS was so excited to see his creation come to life. As a surprise I ordered DH, DS and I our “family logo” that DS created (He writes Team Surname in a circle with stick figures of us!) and they turned out fab too. I got 6 for about £16 which I think was fantastic value.

Clarins have some reductions on the Christmas gift sets for men

IlovePond · 02/12/2025 16:49

I have been collecting freebies today:

JL online a/c free chocolate Santa - you can collect these until 4/12 subject to availability

Boots free lip mask (needed to spend £5 to qualify) via their online a/c, again while stocks last. Not sure if this is today only as the offer has disappeared for me as it’s been redeemed.

SpaceNK birthday freebies - three very good-sized samples - no purchase required. (It’s my birthday at the end of the month but the code was valid from 1/12.)

I recommend signing up to SpaceNK’s loyalty programme if only for the birthday gift. They seem to have stopped the £5 birthday voucher this year, but it’s still a good deal.

Free Starbucks drink with my points whilst I was on a freebie roll!

What about a door bar for pull/chin ups? Argos had one for £17.50 (half price) but it looks quite low - too low for my 13yo. There's others but I couldn't find a decent one less than £60

Thank you for the good suggestion, we have one already but great idea for others 🎄

IlovePond · 02/12/2025 17:08

@Burnnoticed - I have bought a few genuine Oodies - seconds with the labels removed, from True Face UK on eBay.

You have to look for the ones with the pictures just like those at the Oodie.

True Face have to list them as ‘Hoodie Blanket Adult Oversized Sweatshirt Sherpa Fleece’ - they can’t call them Oodies, and have given the styles different names.

They are a good company and I have ordered from them a few times. They are also on Amazon but prices are a little higher.

A lot of their ‘real Oodies’ are OOS but the one that is listed as ‘orange cat’ is one of them and is £14.99.

Meanwhile, The Oodie have some on sale with prices starting at £29:

They have a 4m roll for £2.99 at Smyths. It's not specifically Christmassy so could be used for a birthday too.
