Thread 13 - the one with a cheesy advent calendar of 67 jumpers

Reastie · 29/11/2025 20:25

Decided to combine both thread title suggestions :)

Thanks @RainbowZebraWarrior for helping me out and I'm so excited that I was on my computer and she tagged me so I could set this one up - hurrah!

Feeling super festive today after getting the decorations up and visiting Father Christmas. Exciting news is the Christmas bedding and jumpers are all down from the loft and being washed, so I'll soon be able to walk around in my 'I [heart] Christmas' jumper Xmas Grin

This post is a work in progress, and if you have any links you’d like to share or you think would be good to add, then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas, and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links, please.
Please post any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of MN filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!
As we move towards actual Black Friday (does that even exist any more?) the threads tend to move very quickly. It can be helpful to post your bargain in bold. This can be done by adding an asterxix either side of a word with no gap in between. So Levi's would be Levi's

I’m not hopeful for my cheese, tbh.

😿🪤 🧀

Yes! I haven't heard anything since my order confirmation email of 25th Nov. I need them by 13th December for early Christmas get together so hoping it won't be too long. Also waiting on Dean's shortbread hamper and a Lakrids order which was apparently shipped on the 26th Nov.

In other news my Elizabeth Scarlett Jarrolds goodie bag arrived today - if anyone wants a ES washbag it is a good option at £60 - I got it for loyalty price at £50, but people who sign up to their loyalty club might get a money off voucher:

https://www.jarrolds.co.uk/departments/beauty/gifts/wild-night-in-beauty-bag

Thanks - I think! Ordered the bag, I have wanted a giraffe one forever and I’ll use almost everything in it. I didn’t mess about waiting for a code in case it went oos 😀

Wallaroo21 · 01/12/2025 14:08

My cheese advent calendar is with dpd now apparently!

BeckySharpest · 01/12/2025 14:10

Fahlo were not great last time I ordered from them. Tbh their business model of multiple codes/discounts and random postage costs always sets me on edge about what the actual cost/mark up is, especially when the same quality bracelet is on Temu and the postage is a cheap brown envelope with a Royal Mail stamp on and there's zero packing. If it arrives without chasing, that is.

zacsGranny · 01/12/2025 14:12

I emailed Fahlo asking about dispatch time. This is their reply. The order was placed on 25th.

Thanks for reaching out! Your order #3968050 is currently unfulfilled, and as it was placed less than two business days ago, it’s still being processed. Most orders take 1 to 3 business days to process before shipping. Once your order is dispatched, you’ll receive tracking information and shipping details via email.
Since your shipping address is in the United Kingdom, please note that delivery times may be slightly longer due to the busy holiday season. Royal Mail and Evri Hermes are currently experiencing high volumes, and deliveries for recent orders are taking approximately 5-7 days.
We really appreciate your patience and understanding!

Does anyone know how to get any deals at Vue cinema or McDonalds?
Ive promised a Christmas trip but had an unexpected expense (kitchen ceiling fell down after a bathroom leak 🙈) and want to see if there’s any way I can get it a bit cheaper before I have to cancel

Do you have Meerkat Rewards or have you bought insurance through Compare the Market recently?
If not, buy one days UK travel insurance through Compare the Market to get a year's membership which gives 2for1 cinema tickets Tuesday or Wednesday (one code per week). You can buy the cheapest (child) ticket and get an adult one free with Cineworld so presume it's the same with other chains. It also gives you other discounts including 25% off coffee and pastries at Cafe Nero; 25% off Sunday to Thursday at Burger King, Pizza Hut and Pizza Express.
Travel insurance usually costs just over £1 - I use DSs birthday (adult) and don't declare any medical conditions as I'm not going to claim on it.

zacsGranny · 01/12/2025 14:20

Another email from Fahlo when I pointed out the date of my order

Thanks for bringing this to our attention and apologies for the confusion. You are correct—your order was placed about 6 days ago, and it is still showing as unfulfilled with no tracking information yet. Due to the holiday season and higher parcel volumes, there have been processing and shipping delays, especially for UK deliveries. Since your order has not yet been dispatched, I am transferring your ticket to our specialist team for further assistance. They'll get back to you as soon as possible with an update.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!

I’d be happy to send you our 2 free tickets from Sky for December if it would help? Has to be a Sunday to Thursday trip though…

Ewock · 01/12/2025 14:32

I ordered my Fahlo bracelets on the 21st Nov. Emailed Fri (28th) got a sorry it'll be dispatched soon. Then yesterday I had a dispatch email.
I also got the free bracelet message today, p&p was £4.95

IlovePond · 01/12/2025 14:33

I was expecting a JL a/c door to open in my rewards but there’s nothing there. Did I imagine that JL were doing one this year?

They are doing 'Treats of Christmas' for the next 12 days, but only in their app.

SleepPerChanceToDream · 01/12/2025 14:39

Yes, it’s working in the app, but I did have to update it first.

FurForksSake · 01/12/2025 14:42

It’s on the app for JL and so far it’s just the usual competitions that are on every month but behind the door. The win your wish list has disappeared so I’m assuming that will be behind a door.

IlovePond · 01/12/2025 14:42

Thanks guys - I’m in the app and it’s just been updated but I will try loading it again. I’m feeling quite left out!

CarrotVan · 01/12/2025 14:49

@LoopyGremlin how about Nielsen Massey flavourings? Excellent quality

IlovePond · 01/12/2025 14:51

Re: JL - advent calendar has loaded - thanks to those who suggested refreshing the app.

After all that excitement I was somewhat underwhelmed by the actual ‘reward’!

IlovePond · 01/12/2025 14:53

The Boots door one is very good but I won’t be legging it up to my nearest store to avail myself of the offer.

They have missed out by not having the offer online too, (or at least having this ‘door’ at the weekend when more of us can make impromptu visits to Boots!

IlovePond · 01/12/2025 14:56

Quite impressed by Lidl’s door one by comparison, (though it’s a low bar 😹)

I don’t think I have ever managed to spend £35 in Lidl, though. I suppose I could make an effort as it’s nearly Xmas - they have done good stuff in atm.

hugsandpugs · 01/12/2025 15:16

Smiggle order arrived today (should have been Saturday but evri are s**t), very impressed with the size of it - it’s almost as tall as the Lynx advent calendars. Not sure I would have paid full price at £35 but a bargain at £10! 🥰

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/12/2025 15:19

Blue light card have vue offers usually.

hugsandpugs · 01/12/2025 15:20

Can get £10 worth of bubble t cosmetics products and just pay the shipping cost if anyone likes their stuff.

I’ve put my referral link on the other thread if anyone wants to use it, there are also other users who have posted theirs too 🥰

Order has to be over £10.01 to use the voucher though. I think the cheapest I got it down to was £3.40 something for £10 worth of products including p&p

Cos1970 · 01/12/2025 15:24

Aldi have the Kevin the carrot toys in store and also dog toys. Picked up a Kevin the carrot Christmas tree dog toy for £3.99, which I thought was a good price for the size of the toy.

christmasfish · 01/12/2025 15:46

No cheese here either - annoying as one of the advent calendars was a gift for a friend and any later than today isn't ideal. It isn't even showing as despatched yet.

slimmyjimmy · 01/12/2025 15:50

Just received an update from DPD for my cheese advent. Hopefully will be arriving tomorrow. Was due today, but happy just to get it 🐭

begonia27 · 01/12/2025 16:04

I wish I could find the original post recommending the alpaca bird feeders but there are so many posts on here and I’m incompetent!!, but I put in an order and the lovely people there emailed to apologise for the box it had been mailed in - they have been inundated by orders. I replied to say wow, the power of mumsnet!, and explain where I had seen the recommendation, and she said it had really turned their weekend around for them after a disappointing Christmas fair. I thought how genuinely heartwarming that was - that someone’s post has been able to make a difference to a lovely organisation and their very cute alpacas (and my mum’s birds will now have cosy fleece lined nests!). So thank you to the original poster of the link, and this thread now has an extra subtitle - The One With The Happy Alpacas!!
