DH just remembered when I went out last year: 21 December when we went out for lunch (Fisherman's Rest pub, I'm looking at you! 😩).

Well you need to boycott the Fishermans Rest Public House now

I am giving Starbucks and the shopping mall small bakery stall the cold shoulder as they definitely Whamageddoned me . Sainsburys I cannot boycott , I have Nectar Points to spend Xmas Grin

Glennponder · 06/12/2025 12:46

I'm not sleeping well.
So not much being done today, other than washing and tidying.
I'm going to re grout the shower cubicle tomorrow

Today I have painted more Christmas cards. Still no tree, but we are off to the Panto this evening.

I've cut dhs hair, had a shower, done my physio exercises, washed the dishes, 2 loads of washing done.
I'm planning on reading my book 📚 this afternoon
I need to pop to aldi but that can wait until tomorrow
Got a busy week next week, so trying to chill this weekend

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 06/12/2025 15:29

Situation here is that LO is ill (kind of - awful rash but no actual illness and Drs aren’t worried). I am/was hungover and am having either an allergic reaction to something or a weird eczema outbreak on my face as it’s red, hot and tingly.
I’ve done a small walk in the rain, taken 2 antihistamines and about to put a wash on.
DH has had a hard time with LO but is now trying to get ready for his works do.

I am counting down the minutes until I can take DH out, watch LO fall asleep in the car along the way, get home and eat the McDs I need to fully recover 😂
Then I’ll be watching shite tv, cross stitching if I can be bothered and falling asleep early.

No whamageddon here, I’d be out on day 1 as I listen to heard Xmas and my own Christmas playlist with it included.

Glennponder · 06/12/2025 15:34

Sounds like a tough day @NoCheesesForUsMeeces
My eldest used to get viral rashes (like hives) all the time...very worrying but harmless.
My skin is dreadful atm...eczema patches (never had it before...), folliculitis...ugh...awful.
I'm feeling quite fed up today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better 🙏

Glennponder · 06/12/2025 19:53

Been for a walk to look at the christmas lights ✨️
Some houses have really made an effort...they look fab 🎄
Tonight we start our family festive tv re-watches ☺️
We love the Christmas episodes of ghosts, victorian and edwardian farm and the goes wrong nativity and Christmas Carol ☺️
It's become a bit of a tradition

DS Birthday , he's gone to the gym (typical) Xmas Grin

He didn't want to 'do' anything and asked for take away for dinner .

Must Do on list today : Tidy the Pantry .
(I think DD and DH are going to watch 'Sorted Live' so I can ear wig that )

GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick · 07/12/2025 14:29

It's my birthday today as well so Happy Birthday to your DS @70isaLimitNotaTarget . I finally found a birthday twin.
Feeling really ill all week and DS has been off school since Tuesday of last week.
Got the trees up though. The rest will have to wait until I've had a nap

Glennponder · 07/12/2025 14:48

Poor dd1 has come down with a horrid illness - off to ooh dr and 10 days of antibiotics ☹️
Hoping she's well enough to attend her graduation on Thursday but it's unlikely ☹️

FurForksSake · 07/12/2025 16:45

We are watching a Christmas movie and the family are decorating. I’m stuck on the sofa in pain, but never mind.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 07/12/2025 17:39

Afternoon. Yesterday was a total write off. As planned I took DH out then got home. Planned a 30 minute nap but passed out for an hour. Had my burger then went to sleep and promptly fell asleep for the night.

Things are improving today. My face is itching a lot less and is more pink than red today.
LO seems ok and rash is drying up but he’s clearly exhausted and has been sleeping almost 15hrs a night since Thursday (6pm-9am 😳).

We did venture out for the Santa train today and now we’re waiting Polar Express (bloody weird film if you ask me) as LO requested it.

Decs are unlikely to make an appearance until the end of the week at least and we’re so busy I’m not quite sure where I’m going to find the time for them. It’s killing me, I want twinkly lights!

Happy Birthday to you @GrannyWeatherwaxsBroomstick
your DS 70 🎂🎈

Sorry about your DD Glenn.

How’s the recovery coming Fur?

FurForksSake · 07/12/2025 18:05

I’m doing ok, we went to Panto yesterday but in a town 90 minutes away, so being in the car and sitting in the theatre have left me in a lot of pain.

DH just produced the glittery pigeon I wanted for my birthday; so that’s something!

NoWordForFluffy · 08/12/2025 08:09

Morning!

Happy birthday for yesterday, Granny!

I hope your DD recovers soon, Glenn. Meeces, sending get well vibes to your household too.

Fur, healing vibes are sent your way.

Dry start here. Breezy still though. Rain later (but worse tomorrow, on my office day, obvs!).

It's my day off, so I'm off to the parents and need to finish the weekend's cleaning, then make my Christmas cards. I also need to get my bulbs out into the garden.

FurForksSake · 08/12/2025 08:56

My dining room has become the present room. It’s actually unusable. I am considering starting wrapping and tagging so that I can bag things that are for other people and get the room back! I can’t decorate for Christmas in there as it’s just overrun.

Glennponder · 08/12/2025 11:23

Dd looks dreadful but says she's not feeling "as bad" as yesterday, thank you
Nothing doing here today...
I'm not sleeping ☹️ and feel horrid
Dh needs ferrying around as he can't drive until Thursday after his op

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 08/12/2025 13:31

So sorry for all of the illness going around, my son was off school with it last week. Alpt of teachers at his school are off too.

@FurForksSake your cards are beautiful! You're so creative! And a very happy birthday! Please post a pic of your glittery pigeon! I love pigeons, im known in my close as the pigeon lady as I go out every morning to feed the pigeons their breakfast!!

Today I have made a start on the christmas wrapping. Sorted out what paper is from Santa and what paper is from us as not all present are from Santa. Written the christmas cards and will deliver them later on. Popped into Card Factory this morning and picked up two gifts for two boys i had no idea what to buy! Very surprised as I hadn't thought of Card Factory for presents, only cards.

I've written myself a list of what needs completing this week, I like the feeling of accomplishment crossing each item off!

FurForksSake · 08/12/2025 19:53

My sister tells me she thinks it’s a pheasant; I’m calling it a pigeon.

Pidgeon for sure , pheasants are more tail-ey

FurForksSake · 08/12/2025 20:32

I agree!

TheWoollybacksWife · 08/12/2025 20:37

That's definitely a pigeon. Lovely and sparkly, though.

I've had a very productive day. I've made (and frozen everything) the sponge for my Yule log, part roasted a batch of potatoes and made a tub of gravy that just needs the cooking juices added on the day. I've also helped DD2 move some more of her clothes to her new place and brought back some of her cardboard to put out with our recycling collection.

Glennponder · 08/12/2025 22:02

Sadly, dd is asthmatic, so it's always a bit dramatic when she gets ill...she can get really bad, really quickly.
But they have her a good examination yesterday and I'm keeping my eye on her o2 sats
Just hoping we don't all come down with it 😬
