I'm on my way to work and its also soggy. Your dogs dressing gown sounds very cute.

Did you really type 10kg of beef??

I did type that, yes! 🐄

The cows are reared locally, so the food miles are about as low as they can be.

The dog hates the dressing gown (it's officially called a drying coat, but it's purple and towelling, so...) and does look cute.

@NoWordForFluffy I love beef but have never actually cooked it as too scared id make it dry! Can you do it in the slow cooker?

This time in three weeks it'll be the big day, it's crazy how quickly this year has flown by, the last month especially!
Still no idea what to get DH, still thinking money for him to choose a watch but want some bits for him to open. Need to go smell and buy some aftershave but I'm full of cold at the minute!

Asda pyjamas ive ordered for niece have been cancelled rather annoyingly. Entertainer order i placed part of that also cancelled. 🙄

New outdoor lights I shall put up next week, i am stressing over whether cable long enough to go through window to plug socket. Realised last night I also need one of those extension plug boards for the new lights.

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 04/12/2025 15:56

Fluffy I spent a second trying to work out how big a 10kg joint of beef would be in comparison to an oven and wondered how many you were feeding before I clicked you meant 10kg overall 😂

I have lost my Christmas mojo amongst some rubbish family news, a massive amount of work and the works on the house dragging on.
I'm considering going into the attic, grabbing some lights and just plonking them around the place to cheer myself up.

Last weekend I did go to a Christmas market and to see Muppets Christmas Carol with a live orchestra which was lovely even if my bickering family took the shine of it somewhat and I have more stuff planned so hoping that helps too.

I would like someone to explain to me how I start organising early with the best of intentions and still somehow end up with stuff to do and a feeling of stress every single December Xmas Confused

Tomorrow we'll be in the teens Xmas Grin

Going for a pootle about this morning while the shops are hopefully quieter . DH and I used to do a Traditional Shopping Trip on the last Friday in November but the last couple of years we've done more online so it ended up as a wander round and lunch somewhere .

I need to buy some things that were missing from the Sainsbury order , pick up an M&S order, and go round TKMaxx .

I have a load of washing on <halo>
Then some exciting Clean-A-Long

Love Actually tomorrow in the cinema Xmas Grin

Magnoliasunrise · 05/12/2025 07:00

@NoCheesesForUsMeeces I need that explanation as well - I don't think I could be more organised yet still feel like I have a tonne to do.

Had school parent drinks last night and I don't think wine helps to be honest. Maybe I should do dry December instead of dry January.

Have fun pootling today @70isaLimitNotaTarget

I'm off to a christmas wreath making workshop this morning. So I need to clean the inch of dust from the front door before I go so I've got somewhere nice to put it.

Magnoliasunrise · 05/12/2025 07:03

PS @NoWordForFluffy I looked at ordering some saltbeef online but it was about £40/kg and I wasn't totally convinced of the provenance, thought they might just send me some shit from Sainsbos and I'd never know!! I think yours sounds lovely when you can practically see the cows,

NoWordForFluffy · 05/12/2025 07:20

@Magnoliasunrise, we pay £15/kg and you get a mix of roasting joints, steak, mince, frying and stewing steak. It's properly melt in your mouth stuff. We had ribeye steak last night and it was amazing! They only deliver locally to save costs, I think.

Cold this morning. But dry, so that's a win.

Ah, 10kg beef is total weight , different cuts .
I did think "Jings , what size of oven do you have Fluffy !? Xmas Grin but the different cuts makes sense .

I have no clue on the £/kg of beef but after reading about the £32 chicken that Rachel Johnson bought I will stay ignorant of these facts . Xmas Wink

NoCheesesForUsMeeces · 05/12/2025 17:49

Oh no. I’ve abandoned my work so as I’m too drunk to be around work people Should be home soon and expecting a headache tomorrow.

feeling more festive though as I left via Christmas market Xmas Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 05/12/2025 18:15

Sounds like a good afternoon, Meeces. Xmas Grin

I was meant to go to the work Christmas do tonight. But a) the weather is wild and b) I've had a big dump of work this week and I'm bloody exhausted. I've learned loads though (specific case law for this new client). Interesting but it's a killer.

OP posts:
TheWoollybacksWife · 05/12/2025 18:41

Meeces sounds like me yesterday - I was out with a group of friends and afternoon drinking is a killer!

I'm feeling happier about prep today. I've sorted the bedrooms - I just need to dust and hoover. Tomorrow is tree day and I'm hoping I'll feel a bit more festive this time tomorrow.

Water, something stomach soothing and paracetamol if you can take it
Get your DH to video you saying I am never drinking again otherwise you'll deny all knowledge Xmas Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/12/2025 18:50

I heard Wham's "Last Christmas" at least 3 times today in different places so I am out of Whamageddon.
Better luck next year I s'pose .

I'm still in for now. DH is out as it played at the gym!

You stayed in right till the end last year @NoWordForFluffy IIRC

I never hear FToNY when I'm out'n'about ( I listen to LBC so no music on radio)
DH says "Oh, I heard it four times on Smooth Radio.

I did hear it last week in a Christmas Market but I don't know if it was the full version

Magnoliasunrise · 05/12/2025 20:04

I'm still in Whamageddon, Radio 2 are giving a warning when they're about to play it otherwise I would be out as well.

FurForksSake · 05/12/2025 20:05

I was in the hair salon today and was dreading hearing it, I barely leave the house so I’m usually safe. I’d almost rather be out as I find it a bit stressful 🤭😆

Which is all very well and good until you turn it on halfway through. Or come back from the loo to it!

I'm listening to Heart Noughties so I have no chance of hearing it!

Same!! I think i can get on with Christmas when I'm out.

Off to the gym shortly. Then school Christmas fair, not even sure what stall I'm on but I know it'll be chaos. I've book in for a pedicure directly after so at least I'll get a peaceful hour.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/12/2025 08:35

I watched that "Last Christmas " film last night ( it was on and I was pootering about ) .
So many versions of it from a red glittery gibbon ( if you've seen the film you'll know she works in an All Year Round Christmas Shop ) to the main character Kate singing it .
These wouldn't count as it isn't George but I'm out anyway

NoWordForFluffy · 06/12/2025 09:07

I thought the original was in there somewhere (maybe it's just the instrumental), 70? It's been a few years since I watched it and had a little cry!

I did get most of the way last year, yes. Don't recall the date I went out, or how! I know I was still in on 16 Dec as I went out for lunch and expected to go out, but didn't.

OP posts:
ProfessorIDareSay · 06/12/2025 09:31

I'm still in but that's because I mostly only have the radio on in the car (which I don't use a lot) and do most of my shopping online!

DH is gearing up to put his Christmas playlist on though, so no doubt I'll be knocked out pretty quickly then.

I popped into Waitrose yesterday to get the frozen turkey joint I wanted (I'm the one who mostly eats it, we are having sirloin of beef for Christmas dinner, but I love my turkey sandwiches) and got a coupon with my receipt that says they are having a Christmas food and drink tasting evening next week, so I'll pop in for that and get my last non-perishables.

Some good offers on Champagne too so a bottle fell into my basket, along with a 75p Cadbury's advent calendar that DH is chomping this morning 😁

I think it is in the film Fluffy but I was half watching/half sulking as I don't have a dog in this fight (excuse the rather vulgar phrase but I heard this from a bloke from Liverpool , it is a change from skin in the game ) Xmas Wink

I am demolishing a Sainsbury Taste the Difference Limoncello Panettone , it is the closest thing to heaven I have eaten this festive season.

Oven cleaned <Preen>
Festive fleece being washed now for the sofa. Need to get the Christmas cushions out today .

NoWordForFluffy · 06/12/2025 10:25

I'm also on fleece and cushion detail today. As well as present-wrapping.
