Thread 8 - the one with all the pillow talk

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

It's nearly time! November is tomorrow and Mariah Carey will be officially announcing the start of festivities Grin . Hope you're all well and just wanted to give you all a massive thank you so sharing these wonderful ideas and codes etc. It helps me SO MUCH. I know I don't post much on here (various things going on) but I appreciate this warm place of mn so much.

I've been waiting for this to be reduced so thank you!
Do argos do any money off codes for £60 transactions? Might be pushing my luck now...

I’ve seen an advert - download the Argos app and I think you get £5 off a £50/60 spend. X

mummyof2boys30 · 05/11/2025 21:46

is this still on?

Not with the 20% extra off. They do have a 10% offer on it though which brings it down to just over £30

Ooh thank you for this! Was too quick to buy when I saw it went down in price so have ordered again and will cancel the other one😆

This vtech marble rush run is 50% off. It is on my youngests list (he has another set he loves and they all interconnect). He is 4 nearly 5 and him and my 8 year old have spent hours playing with it, so I heartily recomend!

Fortnum and Mason have their free delivery offer on. Spend £150 for free delivery - works on named day and next day delivery options. I know not necessarily bargainous but if you were going to be placing an order with them anyway it's worth it.

They do have 10% off cases of wine, when you order 6 bottles or more. Not all wines are included in the offer but enough of their selection are to make up a case and 75cl bottles seem to start from £11.95 so reasonable and make a nice gift if your budget is a tenner for someone.

That you to everyone who told me that playdoh type stuff is air dry clay!

Scout2016 · 05/11/2025 23:37

Can anyone recommend very dark chocolate of 85% upwards please? Not Lindor as that's what the recipient gets for themself. I have got him some from M&S before but think it was a miss.

TheGirlWhoLived · 05/11/2025 23:41

Got some great little bargains on boots!
bauble thing with some milk makeup they love and sol de janeiro spray, an Espa body lotion, grown alchemist hand cream and a nuxe lip plumping treatment for £20. There’s three different varieties to choose from but nice as a little gift!

then I got the Ted baker his and hers set, said £25 each but I had an advantage card offer that took 15% off but took each one down to £17 so must have been a glitch. A couple of bayliss and Harding kids sets that were linked before- gross brain and test tubes etc for £2 each, L’Oréal beard care set for £8 and some medium bayliss and Harding sets (I have family that I don’t really like but that it would cause problems for if I don’t buy a present for…) that worked out at £6 each with the discount.

wild prices

The RSPB has 20% off until the 17th with NOV20.

They’re not extremely cheap but their stuff is very nice quality, so good for any bird lovers.

I want to get my baby nephew a collection of those 'that's not my...' books. They seem to be around £4 per item, or £16 for a collection of 4.

Has anyone any ideas where i could buy a bigger collection? Or somewhere they're cheaper individually?

I'm also looking for ideas for book storage to go with it. Like a nice looking, child friendly storage box or stand for books. Any creative suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

@BloodyBoilingInHere have a look at books4people or Axel Books. Lots of options with nice display cases

Not especially bargainus, although there's a 10% code if you sign up for their emails, but Dibor have some nice personalised stockings they do also have some christmas stuff including the nordic furry top stockings in clearance - I find their sales a bit hit and miss as to actual discounts, but everything we've had from them has been decent quality
