Stocking up the Christmas cupboard!

A lot of us add bits and pieces to the 'Christmas cupboard' or in the weeks/months running up to Christmas.

Let's all share what we have stashed so far here, whether it is sweet or savoury, alcoholic or soft, store bought or home made.

Also feel free to share bargains of the Christmas classics (I can't believe how much Terry's chocolate oranges are this year!).

So far I have:

Sweet
Terry's chocolate orange (the cheapest I have found is £1.75 in Lidl)
Guylian Seahorses (found them in Poundland for £3)
Snowman shaped marshmallows (gifted)

Savoury
M&S crackers x2
M&S piccalilli
Jar of pickled onions

Drinks
Fino sherry
Sloe gin currently steeping
Blackberry, bay, black peppercorn gin, also currently steeping

I'm probably going to add Benedicts Bittermints and a pack of Lindor this week.

Sainsbury's seems to have the best deal so far this year at £5.50 with a Nectar card each.

I haven’t got that much so far . A tin of M &
S sweets and 4 bottles of Prosecco with no guarantee that any of them will last until Christmas .

bobcat1987 · 23/10/2025 11:34

I started my cupboard sept have quiet a bit my cellar is full of different drinks we hardly drink alcohol cans of fizzy pop nice squash kids non alcohol fizz

GameOfJones · 23/10/2025 12:48

So far I have:

Homemade

Christmas cake made.....needs a second feed.

Christmas pudding made and stashed away.

Pigs in blankets, stuffing balls and sausage rolls (homemade) in the freezer.

Quiches and a homemade cake in the freezer for our Boxing Day party

Sweet

M&S Peppermint bark
Walnut whips
Box of Maltesers

Savoury

Jar of chutney
Pickled onions
Jar of chilli jam
Spiced nuts

Drinks

One bottle of lemonade
Three bottles of prosecco
Three bottles of wine
One bottle of Baileys
One bottle of Frangelico

Tesco have 25% off six or more bottles of wine/fizz at the moment so I started stocking up the Christmas booze cupboard. We tend to just be the four of us for Christmas Day with maybe a couple of extra visitors in the evening but we host between 15 and 20 people every Boxing Day so I need to start stocking up from now to spread the cost.

I have a bottle of bubbles for Christmas day and quite a lot of beer.

Gravy in packets and chocolate chip cookies. Crisps and chocolate coins. Have been trying to slowly add things to our regular shop to try and avoid the Big Shop!

I was going to say, you have the cheese in already? That's bold!

xB1991x · 23/10/2025 13:15

Ohh these lists have put me to shame. You are all so prepared. We've got…

Big box of selection crackers and another large of biscuits.
Large bottle of baileys
A couple of selection boxes and tubes of chocolates for the kids.

These lists are actually quite useful so I can nab your ideas! Thanks

I haven’t got much yet.. I have a 3.5 and a 6 year old.. peace will not be kept for constantly asking, and it will not last 5 minutes 🤣

Peridot1 · 23/10/2025 13:30

Nothing yet. It’s only DH, DS and I for Christmas this year and we are going away on the 27th for NY so I am not going mad this year. I went a bit mad last year with biscuits and shortbread and chocolates- we were still eating them at Easter.

DH has booked an Ocado slot for 23rd and I think there is some bits on that.

It does feel odd not to be feeling like I have to get lots though.

MidlandsGal1 · 23/10/2025 13:32

Nothing yet, I haven’t even made my list yet unfortunately

NoWordForFluffy · 23/10/2025 13:42

I've got loads already! And 5 bottles of Bailey's being added when Sainsbury's appears later on. Xmas Grin

I needed the San Pellegrino reminder, thank you. Need to check for when it's on offer (as it will be!).

WilfredsPies · 23/10/2025 13:52

Food and drink lists are written. At some point, we’ll be watching Andi Peters on QVC and we’ll be discussing the pros and cons of paying £24 for six mince pies (we don’t!)

We’ve got an M&S Black Forest gateau in the freezer (my absolute favourite) and a tin of their chocolates (looks like they’re a bit of a hit as we haven’t seen any in stock in the shop since we bought ours). DH has bought himself a Christmas pudding.

A meat pack including a turkey is being picked up on 31st October for the freezer (a massive bargain as it was a pre Christmas offer) and I’ve added chipolatas and streaky bacon to make the best pigs I’ve ever tasted. DH will make stuffing around the same time and they’ll go in the freezer. Turkey & pigs and pudding alternative for vegan guests has been ordered from Sainsbury’s, paid for and is being collected on 22nd. We might get another turkey on Christmas Eve if DH can find any bargains as we both love it, so it always gets eaten too quickly.

Drinks are being bought this payday, non perishables are being bought next payday. Fresh stuff is usually on 22nd or 23rd. DH is working Christmas Eve until 2pm, so will pick up any last minute bits if he sees them.

And I’m currently taste testing some lebkuchen hearts. Can confirm they are delicious. ETA, I also have crackers for children, toddler loves the bang so wants to pull all of them, all at once, so have 24 child themed crackers I picked up for two bob last January.

Hedjwitch · 23/10/2025 14:01

Nothing yet. Rejoicing that the days when I had to buy a mountain of food and drink are long gone. Just me and DH probably and maybe dd2 so will buy nice nibbles for Christmas Eve, the usual stuff for Christmas Day and then its back to normal. Bliss. I'm even trying to get out of making a cake this year, but there may be protests.

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 23/10/2025 14:33

So far I have 2 tubs of celebrations, some gingerbread kitkats, plenty of hot chocolate, a bag of kit kat friends and 2 bags of cheese savouries. Oh and a bottle of baileys chocolate orange which might not be for Christmas 😂

As a heads up the chocolate tubs will be £4.50 with a More Card at Morrisons from 1st November. I expect this will just be until Wednesday 5th November

Also anyone who likes heroes but isn't a fan of the eclairs, I read yesterday that Tesco will be doing cardboard boxes of heroes with flakes replacing the eclairs

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 23/10/2025 18:49

Crumbs, I haven’t even bought the ingredients for making mincemeat (Delia’s) yet, or the 🎄puds. Let alone the wherewithal for Ps in Bs or stuffing. Will mostly have to wait until mid November, since rather tied up until then.

Checkerdoubledecker · 23/10/2025 22:35

Nothing here! I did use to but we get foodie bits as gifts so it never got eaten and just sat there making us both feel guilty.

CharlotteCChapel · 24/10/2025 10:50

I only know for sure what I've bought and some of DH.
Sweet
Lebkuchen
Pfeffeenusser

Savoury
Crisps, lobster cocktail and pigs in blankets
Twiglets
Cheeselets
Cheesy footballs

Alcohol
Chocolate orange baileys

GameOfJones · 24/10/2025 11:31

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER I wouldn't normally make the pigs in blankets or sausage rolls this early. But came across packets of sausage meat on a yellow sticker drastically reduced at the supermarket so one thing led to another and suddenly I had a freezer full of bits for Christmas dinner 🤣

Loopylalalou · 24/10/2025 11:43

I used to do this and be haunted by what I knew was in the house - that’s if my husband hadn’t persuaded me that he should get on and eat it with, of course, me helping.
Now it’s whatever goes in the trolley on the shop before Christmas. It’s a couple of days and if we haven’t got it, hard luck.

Petal7 · 24/10/2025 11:47

Chocolate oranges were £1 at Tesco recently! I got 5! Probably worth checking back to see if they dip in price again.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/10/2025 11:55

2 Toblerones
2 mini Panettone
Jar of M&S seafood sauce (it's vegetarian and we don't eat fish but it might be nice with a salad?
A few boxes of M&S black olive crackers but they;ll be gine before then

No Christmas cake or puddings -only I eat the cake and it's not worth doing , shop bought is meh . DD likes syrup steamed pudding so I'll do those .

Got the Hallowe'en sweets today so too early for Christmas sweets .

Christmas Cupboard is less stressful than Christmas Fridge Xmas Grin

Theslummymummy · 24/10/2025 15:48

Glass bottles of coke 😋 😋😋

Lalanbaba · 24/10/2025 21:36

Adding few things at every shop for a few weeks now. So far
Ferrero rocher, mini gingerbread men, gingerbread house kit from ikea, tin with chocolate letters, bottle of Baileys, bottle of amaretto, Ritz crackers, chocolate covered pretzels
