This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

Cost me £4.95 in 2013, £8.99 now. I think that’s still very reasonable!

I'm aware of how painfully boring this is, but I'm on the hunt for a new potato peeler and I thought if anyone would know of one, its you lovely lot. I don't know how many more battles against a potato I can lose 😪

Bought a KitchenAid one in to maxx the other week. They had loads of peelers, scrapes silicon things, and ladles.

Jessiebessie · 17/10/2025 19:00

I second this. I brought the Salter hot chocolate maker from Amazon last week for my son's birthday for £29.99. The hot chocolate it makes is lovely especially if you use the hot chocolate flakes from m&s.

mumonthehill · 17/10/2025 19:21

@WimbyAce i saw some really nice ones in Primark of all places!

i bought a Salter frother reduced at Tesco the other week and it is my favourite purchase in ages! Makes excellent frothed milk, as well as hot chocolate and cold drinks. V simple to use and to clean. Think it cost £30.

Thank you! Just bought two.

Delahot · 17/10/2025 19:52

can anyone recommend a small gift/keepsake for a much loved piano teacher who is leaving to move abroad please. Am a bit stumped!

MaybeItsJustTimeToStop · 17/10/2025 19:54

@AlbertCampion is this the one? Buy SALTER EK6328 Electric Milk Frother & Hot Chocolate Maker - Silver | Currys https://share.google/oWIbo2FD0DvEVOr28

It was posted earlier £33.60 will get you 3 x Lancôme mascara minis which trigger 2 free gifts make up remover (£21) and a hydrating gift set that looks decent.

Anyone received their American Candy order or do I need to report to my credit card?

@FOBIthefearobeingincluded I reported a couple of weeks ago and received my refund from CC company

Ilovebabykangaroo · 17/10/2025 19:58

Hello!
I am looking for a token gift for a 4 year old girl please. Price up to £10 (but looks worth more!) She likes dolls and is a typical girly girl.
Thank you!

bigchanges1 · 17/10/2025 20:29

Hello,
I wondered if anyone could recommend a slimline sunglasses case for around £20 at all please? A nice quality one where the glass part is in the leather case and the arms wrap around the back of it of that makes sense?

This looks good - it says 1.5 to 4 years though and he'll be 4 next month. Is it easy to find somewhere in store to try on?

We ordered ours online and it was a while ago I'm afraid. DD is 4 and it still has a lot of life left in it. There must be measurements online somewhere I imagine. I think I'd be measuring his head and going from there!

I’m looking to buy a ‘dupe’ for the Velvetiser (can’t justify the £150 price tag!). A couple of people posted on here about similar frothers, I think one was a Lavazza? Must do hot and cold drinks, can anyone help please?

We have the Aldi milk frother. We do hot chocolate flakes in it. It has buttons for hot and cold and has been going for about 7 years! It comes with two attachments for inside depending on if you just want foam or hot milk. Really good value, easy to clean, sometimes you can pick up new ones on Ebay if not stocked by Aldi. The brand is Ambiano. Around £20ish?

The SharpPeel ones from Lakeland are fab. They do a straight and Y shaped depending on your preference. Survives the dishwasher too.

SharpPeel Stainless Steel Straight Potato Peeler | Lakeland

Traditional, SharpPeel Stainless Potato Peeler with eye remover. Also can be used on other veg. With a super-sharp precision blade for thin peeling with less waste.

Big thank you to everyone for their hot chocolate/cold chocolate/milk frother suggestions.
Ordered two for gifts and think I’ll put together a small ‘hamper’ each with sachets, flakes, stirrers, biscuits etc.

BoysBagsShoes · 17/10/2025 20:56

BTW, lots of Stranger Things bits in B&M today!

Beautifulsunflowers · 17/10/2025 21:02

Just hope any men looking for inspiration for gifts for their partners don’t see this thread and think potato peelers would make an ideal present…….

At that price point...

My DD4 is begging me for a Hampster in a ball.

She also loves the Usbourne Sticker Dolly Dressing books.

Books with sound buttons also popular.

Or a small Duplo set - this Little Mermaid one looks like a good deal in TKMaxx for £10 (RRP £17.99 apparently)

@Beautifulsunflowers 😹😹😹

Reminds me of the time many years ago when a friend of DH bought his GF a DustBuster for Xmas… she dumped him 😹

FurForksSake · 17/10/2025 21:26

My husband once bought me a cupboard and a hideous laptop bag, I was on mat leave with our first baby. I sobbed.

hugsandpugs · 17/10/2025 21:54

This PLouise Christmas magazine and hand cream is FREE (usually £9.95) when you order anything from PLouise - it automatically gets added to basket.

I ordered DD a body scrub that was in the sale for £5 then used the code MOBILE15 which gave me a further 75p off.

£3 standard shipping

Does anyone know where/if I can get both of these Stitch and Angel Puppetronics cheaper than £50 each please? Have done a search but can't find cheaper but wondering if I'm missing a trick. I might just have to wait for my next Argos voucher code to drop in my inbox to bring the cost down.
