This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

The oversized oodie we got last year that was asking about yesterday was a Wintshome brand.
i just looked inside 🫣 as i couldn’t find my order.
Found it in amazon reduced from £30 to £20 and another 30% off so was £14 -all approx prices.

I think it was something crazy like £10/11 last year. I’ve loved it all year. Mine goes to floor length and I hope this is the sane one - but for a tall child will be ok too. It’s really nice, not thick or fleecy like the oodies, more like a Sherpa material

Does anyone have any recommendations for speakers (preferably portable) which don’t have listening or voice assistants enabled.
Want to be able to play music from Spotify but keep hold of my phone.
Thanks 🙏

FurForksSake · 16/10/2025 11:30

https://amzn.eu/d/ilixzW3 we have several different JBL speakers and they work really well.

Has anyone without an Ocado pass managed to book a Christmas slot yet? I can't see any concrete info about when it should be open.

I think they stagger them depending on where you live - Inhad an email 27/09 to say slots were open but 10 mins later I logged in to find none left!! The last year only half of my shop turned up as it was out of stock (no potatoes) so this year I’m going to do the shop IRL in aldi

can anyone recommend any small businesses that do women’s handmade clothing?

DH wants some ideas for me and I love one of a kind unique things! I recently bought a skirt off pin clothing that I found through the super seconds sale and I’m absolutely in love with it! 🥰

She doesn’t have anything else I currently fancy though so looking for some other alternatives too! ❤️

Not totally handmade but a small UK business that mainly buys its fabric from Irish mills and the quality is good. https://justinetabak.co.uk/

That's pants - I thought the advantage of Ocado was that it couldn't sell out, once you've ordered, you're guaranteed it. If not, what's the point? No doubt I'll end up with Tesco again, but I was hoping for some posh M&S bits!

AuntieDen · 16/10/2025 12:04

this made me laugh since I have a friend who prays for noisy toys to break! Elsa and Anna dolls which don't sing reduced from £30 to £6

Moonpig also have free delivery on everything with PLUSFREEDEL, with a giant dairy milk at 10.79 plus you can get a free card with a gift which would normally be £3.99 anyway.

For what it's worth, I have both the M&S and Tesco Christmas food brochures. I am very Meh at M&S offering this year (plus the prices are just stupid) but have been really wowed by some gorgeous looking and sounding stuff at Tesco.

whereareyousleep · 16/10/2025 12:37

I have regrets about not buying the balrog Lego set if anybody sees it go back down in price could they give me a head up please 🙏

nothingtoseehereatall · 16/10/2025 12:58

FWIW I get Ocado xmas delivery every year and have never had stuff not delivered/ out of stock. The only subs have been things like one milk brand for another or, say, Ocado version of M&S product or vice versa (but talking things like kitchen foil or plain flour, not stuff you'd care about)

ILoveCatsAndKittens · 16/10/2025 13:21

We got a kitchen knife set from IKEA. They are very sharp and do not rust. Before then we had some design set and blades got blunt quite quickly.

Thank you so much for your reply! Sadly not near to an ikea.
Any further suggestions please?

@auntieDen I can’t seem to get the code to work for me, I’ve put the chocolate and a standard card in my basket but it’s not valid for any discounts or free delivery unfortunately.

FurForksSake · 16/10/2025 13:40

We have a couple of these, you could buy three for about £30 https://amzn.eu/d/drnVGjF. Not a set sadly. They are keeping very well.

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 16/10/2025 13:43

I’ve just done my first ever online order with Home Bargains, they have brands such s Ren, OPV, Bare Minerals, Nioxin, Sol dd Janiro all at discounted prices.

Thanks for suggestion of buying individually! Realistically I only want a fruit knife, bread knife and something bigger for cutting melon/pineapple/potatoes!

Can anyone help me with the most cost effective way to buy two lego advent calendars? DD and DS will absolutely both want one, and no way will they share! Ideally I'd like one of the lego city ones (doesn't have to be this year's) and a minecraft one, which at full price means about £50. Or two different lego city ones, eg this year and last year.

I can do a new sign up with top cash back which gets me £15 sign up bonus, plus up to 5% cashback at lego. Altogether that would knock off £17.50, which isn't terrible. But can anyone do better?

Not really much help but there is a lady on a selling site close to me offering last year’s Lego advent calendar - all doors opened and Lego assembled. But don’t worry, she had kept all the doors (detached) 🙄

I haven't got them yet as they're a gift to me but i picked up the Scoville set on amazon prime for £19.99. I have their pans which are fantastic so hoping the knife set follows suit.

Having ordered a new-to-him Frog bike for my eldest, I'm wondering whether his cheapo Lidl Spiderman helmet is going to cut the mustard while he learns to pedal. Does anyone know if they're all much of a muchness for preschool age, or if I should be investing in something a bit more substantial?

The most important thing is that it fits well, snug but comfortable, low enough on his forehead, etc. and that he wears it (and that it meets the legal requirements, but I'd expect Lidl's to do that!). That said, slightly higher spec helmets can have advantages like lighter weight, better ventilation, more adjustable fit. If he's a very adventurous rider, you might want to go a step higher still and look at helmets with a MIPS system.

Farmfoods are selling two large Yankee candles for £16, if you have someone who likes them it’s a good price I believe. They are around that each on Amazon.

Farmfoods is great for stocking fillers and fun snacks too. They often send vouchers out which can be helpful.

For anyone who’s kids are k pop demon hunters fans, these T-shirts are down from £19.99 to £7 til midnight tonight. Come in various colours.

I ordered 3 for DD which would have been £21 without p&p but I also had a £10 off code so got three for £11 ❤️

Thank you for this. Was the £10 code a generic one?
