This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

Just had a message from the amazon hoody seller (the one selling goodies 2 for £2.99 or something). I bought a women's zip up hoody for £8.99 I think so not one of the super cheap goodies and they've just told me that it's been delivered to the wrong address but they are going to bare the loss and refund me.

Would be interested to know if anyone else has had similar. It sounded like BS to me so I have a feeling no one will be getting there orders no matter how much they paid. Not sure if its a coincidence I've been getting a load of spam emails recently 🤔

I had a message this morning as well - apparently my items are being held at customs...and they are also refunding me. Suspect as you say, that no-one will be receiving their items for one 'reason' or another.

Women of Britain.

I ask you to stop this Christmas hysteria - there is enough plastic tat and anxiety in the world without pointlessly creating more.

Absolutely, I'm weaving scarves from my own body hair for gifts this year

Orrrrrr people are looking for better ways of spending their money so it’s not tat for tats sake.

Or donating and buying from charity shops like alot of us bargain hunters on here!

@SpottyBumPony I hope you are harvesting the body hair in an ethical fashion. Personally I'm making hand-made gifts knitted (on needles sourced from driftwood) from homegrown mungbeans. Obviously I'll also flagellate myself while doing it.

I’m making socks from my cats’ hair and knitting them with needles made from their whiskers.

nothingtoseehereatall · 15/10/2025 11:15

@ClaraLane you have a CAT? How deeply unethical, think of the murdered songbirds and the carbon footprint of that food you give it. I only keep earwigs as pets, free ranging of course.

Can I ask what candles people are gifting along with the candle lamp please.

Also unrelated but I've just purchased a password book on Amazon for £7.99 thought it was a useful little gift

There's lots of recommendations on the Small Business Supporters Thread.

I am gifting this: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/4357102311/christmas-scented-candle-gift-set-candle?ls=r&ref=hprecentactivityhub-8&sts=1&contentsource=1bd3104daff3873e6a62d9a8657ae5a9%253ALT1d174d5904bfb8f70db36e6f4350f4d49fe82240&loggingkey=1bd3104daff3873e6a62d9a8657ae5a9%3ALT1d174d5904bfb8f70db36e6f4350f4d49fe82240

I chose Gingerbread, Winter Wonderland and Nutcracker for SIL. It came really nicely packaged as well with white gifting box, a bow and inside a larger box for protection - so no risk of them being damaged. Almost the exact same choice on White Company was £35.

Women of Britain.

I ask you to stop this Christmas hysteria - there is enough plastic tat and anxiety in the world without pointlessly creating more.

@InsectsMatter I am so sorry that your misogynistic views means you think that only women are on these groups. Or by extension that it is only women whom could possibly suffer from hysteria.

The anxiety is must cause you to know that we existing must be extremely detrimental.

It also seems that you have not understood the reason for these groups, which is to support anybody who wishes to join, so that they don’t suffer the anxiety of the pressure that is placed on them when it comes to Christmas, birthdays or any other celebration that they might have in which gifting is a think. Not to create hysteria, which let’s be honest, we could all achieve just by watching the news and seeing just how heinous people truly can be to each other.

It is also clear that you have negated to actually review the thread and instead presumed that all that is discussed is “plastic tat”.

Whilst I am in no way going to say that “plastic tat” is not discussed or purchased, I would also say that multiple discussions are around alternative presents such as

  1. Heated blankets
  2. Perfume/ Aftershave
  3. Board Games
  4. Candle melting lamps
  5. Jumpers
  6. Sweets

I will not pretend that I have got the list of materials for each of the above mentioned items to ensure that there is no plastic in any of them. However by appearances, they are not plastic tat and purchases have been made for longevity or simply because they are tasty.

I do feel for you if our corner of Mumsnet causes you so much anxiety that you felt the only way you could counteract it was with a sexist plea to us all.

As such, and for your own wellbeing (as we wouldn’t wish to cause you anxiety), I feel it’s important for me to remind you that you do not need to look at this thread and you can unfollow it at any point.

Merry Christmas!

You seem to have inadvertently stumbled onto a thread that isn’t for you . That’s fine , but this is one of the friendliest threads on mumsnet , that runs in two forms all year round . If you are finding Christmas anxiety inducing then I would hide the Christmas threads from your feed .

I would say the majority of the “women of Britain “ on here are looking for bargains on items they want to buy not plastic tat . Although other nationalities are also welcome!

I am not sure what “Christmas Hysteria” means to you , but I would say that an annual event where we celebrate with friends and family does need a little preparation, which I for one enjoy , and prefer to spread the cost over a longer period and enjoy the sharing nature and general chat of this thread.

Not sure if it's the same seller but I bought ladies Christmas tops mentioned on here. Were supposed to arrive yesterday, but didn't, then got a message to say delayed.
Now expected by 17 October

We’re sorry for the delay. If you have not received your package by 17 October, you can come back here the next day for a refund.

😁 Ooh. A free range earwig. DD would love one of those Was it on offer? Do you have a link? 😉

I am now reminded of a Christmas hexbug in a bauble that was a massive bargain a couple of years ago that I never managed to get.

@PenguinbeaverI got these… it says not available online but they were £4ish in store and smell lovely, fit perfectly and don’t look cheap. I'm have the prototype gift glowing nicely next to my desk as I work away!

Managed to pick up my Superdrug perfume bargain today 😜 half expected it not to be there after lots of them being sent back, thanks to the original poster - what a bargain!

OkyDoke · 15/10/2025 12:09

20% off quite a variety of clothes at George Asda today

nothingtoseehereatall · 15/10/2025 12:10

@RainbowZebraWarrior Naturally my earwigs were sourced from an free range organic farm, these days the internet is full of dropshipped earwigs who are factory farmed under terrible conditions #freetheearwigs

How condescending are you!
I have purchased multiple items recommended on this thread and not one of which is plastic or tat.
If it's not for you, fine ignore and move on. But keep your judgemental rubbish to yourself.

Serenitesanta · 15/10/2025 12:22

Delighted you got that perfume!
Does anyone remember the big pink oodie lots of us orders from Amazon last year? They were only about £8 and turned out amazing.
I’ve been looking through my orders and can’t find it - I’ve a child who always says he’d love the same one, loves the material in it - all others we’ve tried in primary/marks etc aren’t the same apparently!
If anyone remembers and could have a look for a link I’d really appreciate it.
In TK’s this morning there were loads of stocking fillers reduced to the red label

Thank you for all the wonderful watering can recommendations. I did try tagging everyone but was getting name spellings wrong and ended up muddled! Some lovely suggestions and I think I'll go with the Ikea one.

IlovePond · 15/10/2025 12:52

Hi guys, thanks so much to those people who were posting about Nectar points being stolen. I have just had a long conversation with a super helpful guy at Nectar who has found all mine and DH’s - apparently - multiple cards 🙈and consolidated them onto one card. I was locked out of my own Nectar account, but it’s all sorted now and I have lots of points!

The number for Nectar is: 03448110811

I have now locked spending of points!
