This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

I need help. DD isn't trendy and isn't arsed about fashion. However, she needs a decent sized cross body bag (needs to fit a phone and spare sanitary protection in), but I have no clue what's acceptable and what would be social suicide! Any ideas?

NoWordForFluffy · 14/10/2025 20:14

I have my spending locked. Is this a different fraud from the points being spent? Are they giving you the points back?

ETA: I literally only unlock for the 30 seconds or so it takes to spend points online.

Edited

Yes it’s slightly different. Good to always lock your spending. The nectar card number was changed so the points I’ve gained have also gone elsewhere. Seems to be a bot which keeps changing it so it can’t be tracked. The woman on the helpline said the technical team are aware of it. Even after speaking to them and getting my number back on it’s changed again tonight - my spending is locked so this is a different issue. Just keep your eyes on it x

The Uniqlo cross body bags have been popular for a while now - a good size and lots of colours to choose from

Forgot to say: she's 12.

Thats worrying, @Delahot. I can't work out how it works though. How do they access your points, or do they not? Do they vanish as opposed to being spent? If so, to what purpose?

GiddyDog · 14/10/2025 20:38

@NoWordForFluffy Uniqlo is definitely a safe bet. They're surprisingly roomy and have been everywhere for a few years.

Just a word of caution with Nectar. Double check the number in your account as mine was changed and all my points have been used. I reported it and they said they have been inundated with these reports. So annoying 😡

OMG I've just checked mine and they've all gone 😱. Do they give them back?

My DNeice, who has expensive taste usually, loves the Primark phone bags. I've got one myself and it's really roomy, with 2 zipped pockets that hold quite a bit of stuff. It was about a fiver.

I also have a few of the befen leather ones, but not sure if a teen would like them.

Edit - just seen that your DD is 12 so the befen ones would probably be too boring for her

MiTu · 14/10/2025 20:44

Not to detail, but I'm another who has just checked Nectar and found a huge whack of points missing. Thanks to PPs for talking about Nectar points thus encouraging the checking!

Ring the helpline on 0800 234 6434 in the morning and they will help sort it out and hopefully get them back. Just keep checking as mine has been changed again. Make sure your spending is ‘locked’ in the app.

Sleeposaurus · 14/10/2025 20:54

@XiCi and @MiTu call them and they do refund. This happened to us last week. Although they refunded the new nectar card they gave us no longer "knows" us so we have far few nectar prices and points offers than we used to and none of the things we used to buy. I assume it will catch up, but most annoyingly instead of being able to generate the maximum number of points available in the Christmas challenge (1500) we can only earn 350 and almost completed the challenge in a single shop. And no extra taste the difference challenge etc. So annoying. The points were spent in London and we are in scotland (look under the activity tab to see where this happened) and they instantly said as they had been spent more than 400 miles away they would refund without question.

Good luck. And everyone else lock uour card for spending!

fishfingersandchipsagain · 14/10/2025 20:57

I tried to lick my Nectar points and it says to contact the main account holder … but I am the only account holder 🤔

Thanks for the nectar alert I lost 4000 points spent in Hempstead Valley ?? I’m in Northern Ireland and quite sure that’s not here - will call them in the morning

we also have these in several colours they fit lots and are popular

@Delahot are you using digital card or physical one? I wonder how they changed the numbers

I have been asked for a long spouted indoor watering can!! The recipient isn't a keen gardening so wouldn't appreciate an expensive branded one (I'm assuming such things exist) but in the other hand I'd like a well made one that doesn't leak. Any pointers much appreciated...

IKEA do a rather nice moulded plastic version that comes in a fab range of colours and doubles up as a rather good vase on occasion too. I’ve had mine for nearly 20 years…

fishfingersandchipsagain · 14/10/2025 22:16

Not very Christmassy, but someone posted this last year and it’s been great. Odysea olive oil. I bought 4 of the 1 litre cans last year and they have lasted all year, being used very liberally for everything from salad dressing to roast potatoes. A lovely fragrant peppery genuine olive taste.

Currently down to just over £11 (usually £18) on subscribe and save, I bought 4 and got an extra 5% off, so about £10.50 per litre.

Does anyone know where I can get a cute case for the AirPods Pro 3? I can only find plain cases or the cute ones are £35+?!????

Hempstead valley maybe near me in Kent. It’s where I go and when they took mine, used it in a London store!

WhereDidSummerGoAgain · 14/10/2025 23:12

Do you know www.studio.co.uk ?

They sell all sorts - clothes, tech, toys, home stuff etc.

I've had some amazing bargains there in the past e.g. branded trainers (Adidas / Stella McCartney trainers reduced from £250 to £38) and backpacks for the teens (£8 or so reduced from £30).

It's a bit like an online version of TK Maxx. It takes a bit of a rummage to find the huge bargains, but they're there!

Thanks Delahot I’ll also be calling. 7000 spent while I was on holiday this summer.

I'm wondering why (and how), because it sounds like the points are then lost, not stolen! I can't work out the reason it's happening (not disputing it is, just I can't see any benefit to whomever is doing it).
