Thread 6 - the one where things are getting organised

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

I think there’s a really decent offer to be had on Lancôme at Boots, my brain is too tired to work it out though if some other clever person wants to have a go, there’s a very nice GWP plus 20% off premium beauty plus cashback plus my Halifax rewards is also offering 10%.

Blessedbethefruitz · 13/10/2025 22:44

Has valentte quality changed? My parents love it, was about to order some little bits (diffusers and melts) for their stockings, but seeing quality questions on here?

Kpop demon people, there's loads of bits on ali express (we have halloween costumes coming) but the dolls looked awful even displayed at their most sales worthy. I imagine all non official doll stock is sourced from the same place. There are some decent looking stuffies though, should have a little derpy to report on in next few days :)

I haven't tried Valentte before, so dont know if quality has changed or not. My order smells very samey, no matter what fragrance combo i chose, although I did choose a lot of citrussy ones. Its as if they've poured a ton of cheap lemon oil into the melts. They are all too strong for me.

I tend to use Seven Seventeen candles and diffusers, which are really nice, but pricier. Their fragrances are softer with more complexity. I think I wax expecting these to be similar.

TK maxx have some Oodies in for £16.99 plus £1.99 to click and collect (the same page has some epic adult snowsuits which I would buy if I wasn't a fatty who has never been skiing. They are almost cool enough to buy for the school run anyway).

oodies

For those getting parcels with labels stuck on, sometimes using a hairdryer on a low setting will loosen the adhesive and allow removal without damaging the packaging

IlovePond · 14/10/2025 01:31

I got a £15 off a £25 UBER Eats grocery deal - did an order but then got charged the full whack. I won’t bother ordering again as I only did it for the offer but ended up paying far more than I needed to.

Chocoholicmumma · 14/10/2025 06:39

If you have an Asda delivery pass the Xmas slots are available to book now!

Prettypinkponies · 14/10/2025 07:02

Christmasmcchristmasface · 13/10/2025 19:49

@Prettypinkponies this is link to Asda ones - pop in your basket and price drops to £22.50 - only navy ones left.

I had avoided all the posts about them until this morning and happened to mention them to DS3 who loves throws and asked if he could have one - not sure why I didn’t think it would be the ideal gift for him - was telling DS2 about ordering it this evening and now he wants one as well - 2 happy teenagers that may never get out of bed now 🫣

They’re all sold out now :( hope your boys enjoy them!

weareallqueens · 14/10/2025 07:15

Uber eats never worked for me either. The offers always hit exclusions at some point among the way. I’ve stopped checking.

Zippymonkey · 14/10/2025 07:16

Frugi sent me a £5 off code with my sale purchase. It says I can pass onto friends so if anyone wants it the code is FR5AW25DN

I think that with the really good offers, unless you get in there almost as soon as it's announced, the max number will have been used before you order. However, Uber Eats shouldn't then let you add the code to the order if it's maxed out. I think that's underhand practice.

I tend to stick to the £10 off codes from Just Eat. I've never had an issue with those.

Thank you , not sure if all the slots have been released as they weren’t due to open them until tomorrow. Luckily though the Tuesday before Christmas was open and that was what I wanted , everything else from 20th onwards is marked as sold out for me ,so either everyone else is super organised or more to come .

I don’t want to derail the thread but I wanted to add. I have always used Just eat and never had issues apart from the odd missing item. However last week they only delivered half the order and said they had delivered it all. They have refused to refund and it’s been a complete nightmare! Just a warning as it’s been a nightmare

We had success with Jelly Drops.

I would avoid any expensive clothes as they all get washed, dried & lost.

Cushions about the person are also a nice reminder to carers that the individual is a person with a rich life history.

I got these for my Mum last year who has dementia.

Don't forget it's Boots £10 Tuesday today

£10 Tuesday

Including at the top of the page a cewe canvas offer for £10 which might be useful for gifting

Edited

Last year people were raving on these threads about how lovely they were, with the only issue raised being of aggressive spamming on email after making an order.

Restlessinthenorth · 14/10/2025 09:27

Anyone got any sense of what bubble baths are trendy with teens? Stocking filler request but not sure that radox will cut it!

nothingtoseehereatall · 14/10/2025 09:29

@Restlessinthenorth Mine love Lush stuff, the bubble bars appear quite expensive at first but you actually only need to crumble a bit in and you'll get a lot of bubbles.

hby9628 · 14/10/2025 09:44

Boots have got the no 7 skincare gift sets for £10. I got one of those last year and they make a lovely gift.

re Valentte, it was my first order with them and I think that they had such rave reviews i was a bit disappointed. The diffusers are fine. They will make nice gifts. I like the smells I chose and am actually considering keeping one myself. The small room sprays, like I said, without a lid just look a bit unfinished. The gift set looks decent but they had sort of scrunched the paper in the box so it looked a bit untidy but I can sort that. Maybe my expectations were too high. I would say they are fine but I wasn’t wowed as I expected to be!

MamaK19 · 14/10/2025 10:02

Anyone been IRL shopping at Claire’s lately? Am on my way to town tomorrow to pick up my (still there currently) Superdrug perfume bargain and wondered if they had any good deals on for the girls stocking bits after DW literally opened the Smiggle order with DD 🫣 not that I’m holding a grudge

MamaK19 · 14/10/2025 10:16

Also this cute bunny toy was mentioned previously and I had it sat in my Amazon basket back down to £2.70

Has anyone had an issue with Uber eats when using one of their money off offers? I ordered this morning & all the fruit & veg was half price for fresh Monday. Then I had an offer on my account for 50% off. Ordered delivered this morning. All good,
However this evening they’ve refunded me the original payment of £13 & are charging me £37 instead!! Invoice now shows all items full price & no code applied 😳 Trying to resolve it through live chat but not getting very far…

I had this!! I set up an account when I read about the £10 off £25 shop which I did with Waitrose. Then a day later, after delivery and all was good, there's no evidence of the code and they're charging me £10 which is saying is unpaid! I can't make another order without paying it. Live chat has been less than useless. Going to have to suck it up, pay the £10 and never use it again as I can't trust their offers.

Donsyb · 14/10/2025 10:37

There’s also a nice Champneys bubble bath set and a a pedicure set on the Boots £10 Tuesday offer.

When I’ve googled it seems to be quite common. I had a couple of unavailable items & think it might be linked to that as it’s then generated a new invoice without the codes on.
Agree that live chat is next to useless 😳
