Thread 6 - the one where things are getting organised

This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

For those who ordered the Velentte set, have you received your order yet? I've had no dispatch email or anything, and it's been 7 days now I think.

I contacted them last week as we had ordered enough for express delivery. They said the hand cream fragrance I wanted was out of stock so waiting for.more ingredients to come in to make it.
They did get back to me after 2 days and were very helpful, think they were inundated with orders. Anyway it came 3 days later. And I got a dispatch email as well. Worthwhile emailing them.

To whomever was looking for Owala, some Costco's have packs of 2 Owalas in at the moment for a bargain according to tiktok. I went to the Gateshead Costco on Thursday though and they didn't have any.

I don't have a costco membership and obviously my 2 kids want random colours that only seem to be on the Owala site and not the ones that were reduced on Amazon at prime day!

I know there have been lots of recommendations for dupe perfume sites, but is there a way to find a dupe for a specific one? A family member loves YSL Rive Gauche but it's out of my budget and I never see it mentioned on the sites I've looked at. Any tips would be great!

I got a Stella dupe from here last year and was really impressed with it. If you search YSL the one you're after comes up.

I haven’t tried the Rive Gauche dupe but have been happy with others from Perfume Parlour

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I know The Entertainer sent an email round the other day saying they had toys to preorder but a funko isn’t a toy in our house. Tempted to get a Barbie and dye her hair purple myself

Aliexpress have some but they look awful.

I found these on Amazon

and these on another site, I’m not sure how good the site is as I’ve never heard of it,

Someone bought those amazon ones for DS. They're not amazing quality but he likes them.

Someone was asking for k pop ideas for boys and he has these along with a light stick thing that DP printed on a 3d printer (similar available on etsy), a tshirt from when netflix shop had their sale and a hood he was bought for his birthday.

For those doing a Korean kpop inspired snack box you can get demon hunter ramen cup covers to download and print from etsy. I printed some to stick on pot noodle pots for a kpop party as DS doesn't like ramen. Our local Asian supermarket has a selection of sweets and snacks too. Particular favourites are the strawberry panda biscuits and strawberry/chocolate dipping pots.

Ive also got DS tickets to the kpop superstars tour which is going on across the country next year.

I don't think we'll see many official toys before Christmas as it's only really grown in popularity over the summer and design/manufacture/distribution takes a while.

I ordered from Valentte on Sat and it has already been dispatched. I would suggest emailing as they have always been fairly rapid.

I am wondering if anyone has any inspiring advent calendars for a teenage boy. I picked my DD a large and impressive sock one last year, my DH has a coffee one. My DS is too old (14) for Lego, he had Raspberry Pi and didn't use it. Would like to get him something comparable to everyone else's in value and size. I think he would be happy with choc or food, but something a bit more interesting. No interest in smellies at all!

JellyRains · 13/10/2025 13:54

So disappointed with Valnette and wish I’d ignored the hype. The 3 reed diffusers smell gross and synthetic as anything. They’ll do in bathrooms but I’d never get again.

User1704512 · 13/10/2025 13:55

Not a bargain but lots seem to be looking for merch. Zara has just released some k pop demon hunters clothing

Oh no - I ordered quite a lot from them. They do have a 'Happiness Guarantee' and offer 90 day returns if you change your mind?

Does he wear Crocs? They have a festive accessories one… my Dbro works from home and just got himself one 🙈

I got DP a taskmaster advent calendar. They've sold out now unfortunately but maybe something along those lines?

Or this looks more impressive than a bog standard supermarket advent. There is a 50% off code if you scroll down the page

my top tip for wrapping paper is TK Maxx if you have one nearby. They do huge rolls that are lovely quality, really thick. I stocked up a few years ago so I have to resist when I go in store now as I still have loads left the rolls are that long

On the subject of wrapping: TK Maxx usually have gorgeous tissue paper at £1.99 down from £3.99. Think William Morris National Trust type stuff. I love it and it always gets compliments!

Sideorderofchips · 13/10/2025 15:17

George at asda has a big sale online

BeaLola · 13/10/2025 16:17

I have no idea what KPop demon hunters are but have seen them mentioned on this thread - not saying this is bargainous but just had a newsletter from Zara and they have T-shirts £11:99 and hoodies £19:99

I have just bought a whole bunch of K-pop DH keyrings and slapbands from Ali express for my eldest DDs party bags (bc she was adamant she wanted a ridiculous demon Hunter birthday party instead of a weekend away not that I’m bitter 🤣) and they are decent, could make a good stocking filler

Prettypinkponies · 13/10/2025 16:24

Do you think Dreamland will have their heated throws back down to £29.99 before Christmas? I SO wanted to buy at that price before but had no need for one at the time. Typically I now need one (present with budget) and would be wounded to pay more knowing they have been cheaper! I know there’s other brands available but I’ve had my dreamland one 6 years now and it’s still going strong so trust the brand.

Ladybaga · 13/10/2025 16:48

My DD has asked for a demon hunters colouring book but the only ones I can find look handmade from etsy. I found this which has quizzes and other cool stuff but not colouring https://www.magazinesdirect.com/uk/unofficial-guide-to-k-pop-demon-hunters/dp/899d0338 can anyone recommend one? Thanks

Thank you for your suggestions. I never thought of lye. Dove do some mini travel bottles so I shall get a couple for her to try. Interesting I think there's a stress element for her as for the past year she's been teaching full time while doing a condensed online MA (learned she passed 3 days ago!). Also allergy testing showed her to be highly allergic to mould and she spent her final year at uni living in a house with walls black from damp! Unfortunately the dermatologist is rather dismissive of both the stress and mould theory.

My eczema started when I was doing my MA! Definitely stress.

WannaBeOrganised · 13/10/2025 17:09

I've bitten the bullet and ordered the kids fire kindle for my youngest - hopefully this will be the last one. They're so rubbish, but I couldn't wrap my head around using a different tablet and restricting it enough to make it safe for her. I'm sure it's easy enough but I didnt need the added stress.

I bought the 8 instead of the 10. The spec is the same apart from screen size, but the price difference is currently £130 🤨

£69.99 for the 8 at the moment, which looks like the lowest it's been. And you can add up to 1TB of extra storage with an SD card.

Also 2.62% cashback on amazon devices with topcashback. Every little helps.

ThirtysomethingMummy · 13/10/2025 17:30

DS (10) got a PlayStation 4 for his birthday and he LOVES it. I don’t know much about gaming nor does DH but we want to get him some things to use with his PlayStation for Christmas. If you have a child that likes gaming on a ps4, what accessories etc do they like and would recommend? He mainly plays Fortnite and speaks to his friends from school (we have security set up so he can’t play with strangers)
