This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

Anyone know of good places to get kpop demon hunters bits for boys? Everything I’ve seen will be rejected for being too girly looking

Fancyateapottea · 13/10/2025 02:21

I’ve just brought some lovely demon hunter bits off Vinted. There’s loads of pins, mugs, bottles,
stickers etc on there at good prices. Got a couple of the light sticks too, looks like people have used a 3d printer and put lights in them but my little boy will love it.

I know there have been lots of recommendations for dupe perfume sites, but is there a way to find a dupe for a specific one? A family member loves YSL Rive Gauche but it's out of my budget and I never see it mentioned on the sites I've looked at. Any tips would be great!

Famousthehero · 13/10/2025 07:00

£5.37 for hardback Gozzle by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Sara Ogilvie - I haven’t read it but love the illustrator. Think it would make a nice gift for picture book aged children

@HamsterHuey I think all the toys on Etsy for K-Pop Demon Hunters are drop-shipped from China for 3x+ the price. It's a shame there's no official toys in the shops - my kids are obsessed!

Thank you for the heads up, I’ll give them a swerve! They don’t look the greatest quality anyway. It’s frustrating isn’t it?!

autumnleaves8888 · 13/10/2025 07:23

@HamsterHuey I have pre ordered some of the k pop figures off smyths and the entertainer , hopefully they will release other things soon x

I don't do dupes so can't advise on that, but on the YSL site at the moment (YSL beauty) the codes YSLGOLD, YSLGIFT, and YSL15 stack for various discounts. I got a bottle of £82 fragrance delivered for £41.70. You also get to choose a free sample.

It was working an hour ago, but only works on one order. It won't let you use the codes a second time.

May make it affordable for you. 100ml RG is £92 and I reckon the codes will take it down to about £50

Thanks for this, just got my perfume nearly half price!

Thanks, but it's a bit cheeky of them as the starting price is already so much higher than elsewhere (£92 compared to £57ish), so it's only really saving me about £7.

I'd normally spend £35-40, so I'm holding out hope it'll drop further or be duped somewhere. I'm probably just spoiled by the recent Superdrug glitch discounts though!

Sleeposaurus · 13/10/2025 08:44

Lego advent calendars- both the friemds and city one down to £16 something on the george website. If you go through the PayPal app and activate the george cashback you will get 20% cashback which is great.

I have eczema prone skin on my face.

Cosmetics don't cause an issue for me generally though. Has she seen a demotologist yet?

I like:
Neal's Yard Remedies Calendula Cleanser
Oatsock bath additive (Amazon)
Aveeno Lotion
Essence Hydro Hero Primer (cheap to try, buy from Notino), I also rate their liquid concealer, the Stay All Day foundation and their tubing 'Without Limits' masacra. The Keep It Perfect setting spray doesn't irritate my skin, but not sure how effective it is!
Rosehip Oil (I buy on Amazon)
Eucerin Acute Lip Balm
Benefit Posietint blush (haven't tried the Essence dupe yet!)

Thanks for your suggestions. Yes she is currently under a dermatologist and has had allergy testing as she has always been allergic to horse hair and this has changed over the years from a skin reaction to asthmatic one. Luckily living in a city horses are not a great problem!

ArthurChristmas22 · 12/10/2025 16:16

@Toooldforlonghair can I recommend you have a look at 47 Skin for eczema, it has worked miracles on my DD after years of prescription steroids.
On makeup, I think it's more about no chemicals, scents, additives. Not sure if you have come across Tropic before? I get products from there and they have just launched makeup. But, any 'good' company should help.

Thank you. I will try those.

I got some Clarins with some samples recommended on a previous thread. I don’t normally do complicated skincare and have had bad experiences with some things previously, but I have been very pleased with this and haven’t had any kind of reaction.

It depends what you are trying to do really, because really severe eczema is more of a medical thing, but if she’s got it back under control and it’s more about having some nice things to pamper herself, I can recommend both Clinique (moisture drench range) and the more sensitive end of clarins, like the hydrating gentle foaming cleanser, one of the oils etc. Both seem to be good with offers and samples at various times.

Thank you. At the moment it's trying to get it back under control. She's seen a dermatologist and has allergy testing. The allergy testing has been more useful tbh as it's given us a pretty good idea as to what the trigger might been.

LovethewonderofChristmas · 13/10/2025 08:58

I bought a movie night box from B&M at the weekend £8.

The Kid Collective has up to 20% off their Connetix magnetic tiles today - I know a few people have been looking at them and also their ball run sets. New customer code SAVE5 also works on top.

The 102 piece rainbow set I was looking at was also price matched to £76 with a "tick to apply voucher" offer on Amazon, in case that helps at all, but still £5 more than using the code.

Mummymumbruh · 13/10/2025 09:04

For those who ordered the Velentte set, have you received your order yet? I've had no dispatch email or anything, and it's been 7 days now I think.

Thanks so much for the codes. I just purchased a perfume for myself and as it was recently my birthday got to select a nice free gift too.

I have eczema. Mine is triggered by stress and bye a substance called lye which is in soap and other foaming beauty products. I can use all Dove products as they are not actually soaps made with but what is called a ' synthetic detergent.' you can Google these but they do all tend to be ' clinical ' as you say.

A brand I live is QandA. They're a reasonable price but well thought of being beauty experts - a bit like brands like The Ordinary which are reasonable but use quality ingredients. They're also family run and British based I believe and use no mineral oils and are cruelty free.

I like their Hyaluronic acid range. They usually do a gift set around Christmas. There are a few foaming products and I avoid those because I usually can't use them but they might be fine too. They do skincare and body care. The body care stuff is available at Boots. Holland and Barrett stock the whole range.

Thank you for your suggestions. I never thought of lye. Dove do some mini travel bottles so I shall get a couple for her to try. Interesting I think there's a stress element for her as for the past year she's been teaching full time while doing a condensed online MA (learned she passed 3 days ago!). Also allergy testing showed her to be highly allergic to mould and she spent her final year at uni living in a house with walls black from damp! Unfortunately the dermatologist is rather dismissive of both the stress and mould theory.

I had an email from Royal Mail to say my valentine delivery was due Saturday just gone. It wasn't delivered though. The delivery code isn't tracking either so not sure where it is.

Edit: * valentine = Valentte

@Toooldforlonghair moogoo is good for eczema prone skin! 😊

Thank-you

mummydoris2006 · 13/10/2025 09:12

@Mummymumbruh I was really impressed with you getting Valentines sorted as well as Christmas 😆

hby9628 · 13/10/2025 09:35

I got my Valentte set on sat. It’s nice. I was a bit disappointed that the mini room
sprays don’t have a lid on. I know that sounds really petty but they are for gifts so it just looked a bit odd without them!

hugsandpugs · 13/10/2025 10:07

I bought these for my DD who is kpop demon hunters mad atm!

Bought them off a seller online who’s daughter hand makes each one and they are only £1!

love supporting small businesses! ❤️
