This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Hope you're all well. I've just put in a big Temu order for stocking bits and bits for work. They gave me £8 off my next order yesterday as two orders I had are arriving late and, when I contacted customer services about something, they also gave me a 20% off voucher, so I saved £20 on my order!

@Tryonemoretime maybe discreetly find out whether he likes boiled sweets. My Mum is in her 90s and would be so disappointed to have some given to her. She says that was all they could get during the war and for some time afterwards and she’d rather ‘something better’ although she does enjoy a mint after her meals.
My suggestion is for a tinned whiskey cake, this seems to go down well with elderly men in my family. I’ve tried it and it is lovely.

Now THAT is a great idea!

I'm looking for wrapped adult sweets to fill something I've made.
Love Lindor but they work out pricey for the amount I want
£5.50 for 200g is the best price I've seen so far.
Also found a box of Cherry Liquers for £3.50 which held 12 sweets.
Any suggestions or better prices please?

Poundland did boxes of dupes last Christmas and they were gorgeous - if you can hang on til nearer Christmas

ChristmasJumperz · 12/10/2025 20:29

Hmm, I just came to say that I was telling my Mum about Outsmarted game as a possible xmas gift she could get DD and when I went to show her on my phone they're doing a flash sale and it's on offer for £19.99 or £28 for their bundle. I am on computer now so was going to add a link but on the web page it's showing as £29.99! Random. Only difference is 5 minutes ago I got the flash sale price whilst on my phone... weird. But if anyone was keeping an eye out you might also get the £19.99 price. Odd! But may be worth investigating?

Hello,

I posted this on the stocking fillers thread too but just in case anyone knows.. I wanted to get DP a few mini aftershaves for his stocking rather than a big one as he quite likes a few different brands (Boss, Diesel, Paco Rabanne etc)

Does anyone have recommendations for where to get mini aftershaves please that are still presented nicely? Thank you ☺️

Can it be the same brand? if yes, then you have plenty of options

This looks great:
Versace Mens Mini Set - Boots

Then
Buy Calvin Klein For Men's Mini Eau de Toilette Gift Set | Perfume | Argos
Hugo Boss Men's Mini Fragrance Gift Set 4 x 10ml – Justmylook
Discovery Kit For Him Gift Set ⋅ Jean Paul Gaultier

If it has to be different brands then ebay or Vinted is your best option for minis

Hi can anyone recommend a small Xmas tree that can be posted please? Looking to send something to my DD at Uni!

Agree with the recommendations for Bloom & Wild - I sent my elderly Granny one about eight years ago. She is unfortunately no longer with us, but my mum planted the Christmas tree in the garden and it is still thriving! It was one of the letterbox ones that comes in a flat box!

@zacsGrannyM&S Big Mix tin is £12 but that’s £1 per 100g. Lovely bright shiny wrappers.

Heated throws, I don’t know how good they are but saw some on the Debenhams website. There is also the PayPal cashback offer for Debenhams.

Another vote for Bloom and Wild! Sent a couple of 'letterbox' Christmas trees last year and have used them a few times through the year.

Knowledgeable ladies of MN I need your help please?
DD (age 25) has had a major flare up of her eczema during the last year so I am looking for recommmendations for toiletries, make-up etc. Looking for stuff that doesn't look 'clinical' so price is not important. I just want her to be able to indulge herself as she has always loved beauty stuff. Ideally we could get some sample products to try first. Perfume is not a problem and she can just squirt it onto her clothes. Has anyone any suggestions please?.Price is not an issue I just want to help her feel good again.

Thank-you

PS Love these threads. Thanks to the original posters.

I have eczema prone skin on my face.

Cosmetics don't cause an issue for me generally though. Has she seen a demotologist yet?

I like:
Neal's Yard Remedies Calendula Cleanser
Oatsock bath additive (Amazon)
Aveeno Lotion
Essence Hydro Hero Primer (cheap to try, buy from Notino), I also rate their liquid concealer, the Stay All Day foundation and their tubing 'Without Limits' masacra. The Keep It Perfect setting spray doesn't irritate my skin, but not sure how effective it is!
Rosehip Oil (I buy on Amazon)
Eucerin Acute Lip Balm
Benefit Posietint blush (haven't tried the Essence dupe yet!)

Ooopsyididit · 12/10/2025 21:48

AO.com has oral B electric toothbrushes for £20 usually £50. Cheaper than boots/ very etc.
Free delivery also.

Please can anyone give me suggestions for a 97 year old man in a care home? He's not keen on chocolate and no booze, please! Thank you.

We had success with Jelly Drops.

I would avoid any expensive clothes as they all get washed, dried & lost.

Cushions about the person are also a nice reminder to carers that the individual is a person with a rich life history.

Can anyone recommend a brand of heated throws? I hear a lot of ones mentioned here but which ones are good quality and last well? I would appreciate hearing people’s experiences and thoughts.

My youngest has told me she would like some American sweets for Xmas. Ironic really as I did the order that has never arrived through the American Candy store 🤣 I think I’ll see what random things b&m bring in. I did notice American Candy hampers in sports direct. If anyone has any recommendations of where might be good plse let me know

This website does various sweets and snacks from around the world. I’ve previously bought American sweets for my son which went down well.

I've just brought a couple of Dear Zoo boardbooks for friend's babies from Amazon. Currently on offer for £3.58.

FredaFox · 12/10/2025 22:19

@HW20 mine was dreamland and lasted 4 years, now need to replace. I find it useful for when im
working from home. Im quite a warm person so dont like a lot of heating on unless i need it, the blanket just goes over my lap and legs and keeps the chill off . Definitely recommend them

I have 2 Dreamland throws, had one for around 4 years and one for around 2. They are the herringbone ones, they have pulls thanks to the cats but work well and have been washed a few times a year. I’ve just ordered another for my dd for Christmas from Boots. I have bought a Silentnight one as a present before but it was much thinner. The recipient liked it though.

zacsGranny · 12/10/2025 22:31

Thanks for all the suggestions re sweets.
I haven't had the large tubs for a few years as people keep saying that they just don't taste the same and the plastic boxes are half empty. Is that not the case?

Dupes from Poundland may be worth a look. Will also check out M&M+S

Boots has the oral b stitch electric tooth brush reduced to £40 down from £100

do great sized mini aftershaves. Although they are dupes - I’ve always been really impressed with them. My son, daughter and many family/friends use them. There’s always a good deal on and last year they had fab Black Friday offers too!

2.4 kg of Cadbury hero's is currently £25 on amazon that is about £1.30 for 100g. They dont have celebrations in a decent price just now, but often in the run up to christmas I've seen both in giant boxes for less than £25. I've always been tempted to buy and make individual gives, but I suspect I would end up eating 2.4kg of chocolates (maybe only 2kg and everyone I gave chocolates to would wonder why there were only bounty bars)

CatRash · 12/10/2025 23:29

@HamsterHuey I think all the toys on Etsy for K-Pop Demon Hunters are drop-shipped from China for 3x+ the price. It's a shame there's no official toys in the shops - my kids are obsessed!

CatRash · 12/10/2025 23:36

Football Barbie for £6.67 might be a good stocking fillers - https://amzn.eu/d/eo3pW9R
