I don't know about anyone else but I find I struggle to think of gift ideas for myself (I have bday just after xmas so I get double trouble).

I've always found these threads quite helpful in sharing what others are getting for inspiration. I hope to maybe get a couple of these things if I'm lucky...

A hot chocolate maker, some fancy flavoured decadent hot chocolate to go in it, the Roast Figs Sugar Snow cook book, book tokens, some Lambertz lebkuchen cookies and a gorgeous abstract art print I've had my eye on for a few months. And a heated pad for the dog bed. I will buy all these things for myself before Christmas, in all likelihood :)

Oh God I would love vouchers for a tattoo! I'd love to get them but as a single mom without all that much money it just seems to frivolous a spend. I even dated briefly a tattoo artist in the hope he would offer me a freebie! (He didn't - I think he was on to me..... )

That’s the kind of thing I would do too 😉. I am a single parent too and tattoos are so expensive. I am trying to fill a arm (kind of a sleeve) but I think I will be a OAP by the time it gets finished.

BlessedAreThePureOfHeart · 10/10/2025 09:00

I want the lego tuxedo cat and some of the 98453000 books I have on my wishlist

hattie43 · 10/10/2025 09:01

Thanks to someone else on this thread I’ve just ordered myself the Whitestuff Klara velvet coat that I didn’t know I needed or wanted 😁

My birthday is coming up soon and on my list is

Bulbs/fruit trees (moving to a bigger garden next month!)
Acai walking trousers
Shearling birkenstocks
Adela lambswool jumper from Bibico
Big pile of books
Marrons glaces from Fortnums
Neom bath foam

This list makes me sound a thousand years old 😂 I'm early 40s really

Same age and your list sounds fab. I also want some ankle wellies for taking the dogs out as I'm sick of pulling on my massive ones and trying to get them off at the back door!

heathspeedwell · 10/10/2025 09:07

Might look at that Whitestuff velvet coat, I've had a few over the years and l still love them and get compliments when I wear them.

Definitely want some seeds from stocksandgreen. Each packet is a mini work of art and they have so many unusual varieties.

I'm hankering after some really good rose and violet creams. I had a box once from Fortnum & Mason and they were unforgettable. Probably made with double cream or something to be so good.

What she said (mine are arriving tomorrow!).
Thanks for the suggestion… I guess I bought myself an early Christmas present.

Would be fateful for a review of these please, if poss!

DisruptiveCumin · 10/10/2025 09:30

A genealogy kit and probably an upgrade of a version of Photoglory I use now. Might get that one one Black friday deals though and if I do that, hair care products are next on my wishlist.

ill be 43 shortly.

want - glazes for my ceramics, probably some nice mayco ones.

need - I think I need a new purse, mine is ancient.

wear - a cashmere loungewear set

read - https://amzn.eu/d/b1rubDP a book on glaze techniques and recipes.

id like some beautiful candles, house plants, a new robe, expensive shower gel, new perfume (dh always puts a bottle in my stocking), some expensive carving tools for pottery, new garden metal pheasant.

For candles look again Geodesis. They are divine and just as good as far more expensive brands.
A Purse? really? I don't remember the last time I used one. 🤔
love the rest of your list!

EllatrixB · 10/10/2025 09:31

*grateful, obvs 😂

My husband and I don't really go big on presents for each other - I've dropped a massive hint about some antique candlesticks I've seen but am very realistic about the likelihood of these appearing...(and I'm fine with that!).

So far, I've bought my mum some little faux fur handwarmers and am in the market for an interesting non-fiction book for her.

I've had that cook book years, its my favourite winter/christmas book to use.

Silver drop earrings
Roget & Gallet Carnation scented soap
Milk chocolate dates
Crystallised violets
Cashmere cardigan
Silk scarf
Fortnam & Mason Earl Grey biscuits
Ticket to see Rigoletto at the Royal Opera House

PurpleLeather · 10/10/2025 09:33

Barbour trench coat to add to my Barbour coat collection, hubby's buying it for me for Christmas 🤩

ChocolateCinderToffee · 10/10/2025 09:34

I’m mid-60s and single so I buy most of my own gifts. I’m having:
new slippers
nightdress
artisan chocolates from a local company
expensive yarn to knit a cardigan
scent
gold earrings
a couple of books

bobcat1987 · 10/10/2025 09:36

Hocus pocus lego house to go with my home alone house and nightmare before Christmas house lol

GreenGodiva · 10/10/2025 09:42

Oooooh I love an adult Christmas wish list.

I’ve been really good and would very like

A skutt firebox glass kiln.
Dahlia dinner plate tubers in mixed colours.
Manpukuji carrot seeds.
Asparagus crowns.
Paddock pass for 26 Silverstone F1
A world cruise, 100 days would be nice.

i think I might be in luck with the carrot seeds 😂😊🤷🏼‍♀️

almost everyone here listing 5-10 things they want for Xmas, why so many? What is the point in so many things?

Because it's nice to get things gifted instead of buying myself? When DD was younger I often spend the money on her instead of myself and just got the basic version of something I wanted.

Now, more money available and DD older (we have joint accounts) and we can afford nicer things for us but I still have that "I shouldn't buy it" mentality I am starting to shift so presents are the non-guilt way to have things.

FurForksSake · 10/10/2025 09:49

@TMMC1 yes, I barely use mine and it’s huge, so more I need a small card wallet for my driving license and credit card.

Freda69 · 10/10/2025 09:50

Bamboo ankle socks
Waterstones token
Book on recognising birds
Interesting calendar for the kitchen
Arty looking diary (easier to look at than one on phone)
Turkish Delight Hotel Chocolat
Nice ear rings with pink stones (to go with Autograph cashmere jumper)
Husband is getting a golf watch (no idea what that does)
(Another post Christmas birthday, along with most of my family/friends)

hattie43 · 10/10/2025 09:50

Does anyone else find themselves having to google what some of the gift choices actually are .

Surely most people can think of several things they would love to have. It’s a wish list not a demand. I could list several items but it doesn’t mean I’d expect to get all or even any of them, they’re just things I like

Tupperwarelid · 10/10/2025 10:11

I'm having the Liberty beauty advent calendar as my present, I had one a couple of years ago and it was lovely.
If anyone wants to get me anything else I would like some theatre vouchers as there are some plays coming up I want to see but I'm very fussy about where I sit so don't trust anyone to buy the actual tickets for me!

GiddyDog · 10/10/2025 10:21

I'm 40.
My favourite band are doing an anniversary tour next year and DH has already got us tickets for both nights in our city (they'll be doing two different sets!).
We've also booked a city break for Feb half term.

Other than that.....I don't want for much.
Some new perfume as some of my favourites are running low.
A lovely fluffy bathrobe as my old one is a bit threadbare.
Books, always books.
I'd love some oxblood DM's but that would really be a total indulgence, my black ones are perfectly good and I have brown lace up boots also.
