I don't know about anyone else but I find I struggle to think of gift ideas for myself (I have bday just after xmas so I get double trouble).

I've always found these threads quite helpful in sharing what others are getting for inspiration. I hope to maybe get a couple of these things if I'm lucky...

Another one who just bought the earphones a pair for my DD too. Thanks

Mewling · 09/10/2025 20:39

My dream list is…

A Folio Society copy of one of my favourite stories
A ticket for a gig next year
A bottle of my favourite perfume
A Longchamp Le Pliage handbag
A pair of Barbour boots
Laneige sleep mask
Omnes oversized cardigan
New pair of Levi’s.

As I’m a single parent I may get the first two for myself. I’m expecting a little boost of income in the early new year so might treat myself to the rest then.

DoubtfulCat · 09/10/2025 20:39

Nice thread 👌

Are the earphones safe? I have a Hoom band but it’s not actually that comfortable (and it’s too big so the earphones slip round my head and I can’t hear the soundscape or whatever I’m listening to. Never knew you could sleep with an in-ear phone and at that price…

i would like Chanel Allure perfume. Slippers (sheepskin). Maybe a gold pendant. I always like pyjamas and clothes, but I like choosing for myself because it’s awful when they pick something you don’t like or doesn’t fit!

He did really well last year with an iPad that I listed as an out-there if-you-get-a-winning-scratchcard gift, and a ring he made himself. And a great pair of pjs, to be fair.

it’s easy to buy things for myself, but harder to think of things I would like to be bought for me. Don’t know why!

ETA my age- 47

AdoraBell · 09/10/2025 20:40

I have no idea yet.

@ithinkilikethislittlelife I bought a white stuff velvet coat last year and was really disappointed with the quality.

Do you realise those earphones in rose colour are currently £31 down from £129? Buy them before they go back up!

Thanks - your comment inspired me to buy them!

RiseOfTheTeenyTinies · 09/10/2025 20:56

I’m 39 and I want an inflatable kayak. I don’t live near any decent water and I can’t actually Kayak all that well but it’s what I want.

DH thinks it will get used once then collect dust. (He may be right).

TabbieMctatty · 09/10/2025 21:12

I'm 45 in first week of January so double whammy or gifts here too!!

I want a nice cosy fluffy dressing gown
A heated blanket
A new lipgloss (I need to go and try some to see which one I like)
Some studded ballet flats
Id love some new trainers but a bit £££
Under eye patches
I have lots of piercings in my ear so always love some little gold earrings
I'd also love a very delicate gold bracelet with some kind of gem detail on - something really dainty with just a hint of sparkle

Moonlightfrog · 09/10/2025 21:15

I usually buy my own presents (single and family don’t really do gifts). If money was no object I would probably get…

A pair of Dr Martens
A voucher for the tattooist
Needle felting bits
Slippers and fatface pj bottoms
vegetable seeds for the spring
A new gardening fork
Fingerless gloves
A lego set

DrowningInSyrup · 09/10/2025 21:15

What I would absolutely love is if everyone could club together and cancel Christmas for 5-10 years. It's awful.

I don't like asking for specific gifts as it seems grasping
I don't like receiving gifts because I never want them
I don't like giving gifts because they never want them
It's tedious and the same every year
We always get snowed in and lose power in my rural location
It's competitive with what the kids will get
The kids never play with the stuff they get
Baby Jesus didn't exist
If he did and he died for our sins, then what did that really achieve?
We lied to our children about the existence of Santa claus
We now ask them to lie about the existence of Santa claus
Elf on a shelf is a little twat
101 other reasons.

Flipflopflipflapper · 09/10/2025 21:15

Same age.
so far I’d love to try a continuous glucose monitor for a month so that’s on my list, plus some artisan craft dark chocolate.

MaplePumpkin · 09/10/2025 21:16

For me this year I’d like a new fur coat, a heated throw type thing, and some M&S apocathary toiletries/candles.

thehugsy · 09/10/2025 21:25

I would like some new slippers, really good quality and comfortable.

also I’ve just seen an advert for m&s pink candy cane coupe glasses so I’d love them too

I saw a wow coat in Mint Velvet window in a fleeting pass yesterday can't stop thinking about it. It's a long quilted one. Looked it up and a M &S alternative is half the price at £110.
Can't stop thinking about the Mint Velvet one. I was going to not bother with a new coat and make do but this is very nice and my birthday is at Xmas so I could double up for myself. If I get in early before I've blown the Xmas budget on everyone else!!

AntiBullshit · 09/10/2025 18:44

Proper fluffy fluff dressing gown which is super cosy and warm

fluffy slippers

PJs with a long top so I don’t have to keep getting pissed off when the stupid short (not crop) tops ride up at night.

And a super cosy beige bed throw and atleast 4 square pillows so my bed can look fancy as fuck

Look at boody for pyjamas, they come with long tops without buttons. So much better than tops that end up just feeling too small and uncomfortable.

ETA - the extra cushions get very annoying and spend a lot of time on the floor

doihaveacase · 09/10/2025 21:50

I’m so bad at thinking of things I want. I’d love some strappy top PJs with proper under bust support (I’m an F cup) and shorts. Can’t even find these myself so more realistic wish list might be:
Nespresso milk foamer
Jigsaw
Tonys Chocolonely Salted Caramel bar
Nice scarf
Aesop rose bath

Ay, this is hard!

I did not! And I have just ordered them so thank you! Reviews do seem to say that people have slept on their side with them so I’m hoping they won’t be uncomfortable

For those asking for dressing gowns, I bought this recently along with some fat face slippers (couldn’t wait til Christmas-too cold!) and it’s honestly the softest dressing gown I’ve ever had. And is nice a long

I'm thinking of buying this from Next - Burgundy Red Hamish The Highland Cow Supersoft Dressing Gown

@doihaveacase you’d probably be better off in a sleep bra or ultimate comfort bra from bravissimo and then looking at someone like pour moi.
