This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

Bit of a random one, but I'm looking to buy a refurbished Frog bike as a first bike this Christmas. Has anyone used a supplier who can ship nationally? I'm struggling to find the size/colour I need locally (West mids) and can't justify the price of a brand new one. Thanks!

It's been mentioned before but have you looked at Bike Club? You rent rather than purchase.

They reduced my monthly subscription to £7 when I wanted to return the bike after a few months (since returned a perfectly good bike my 7yo DD refused to ride - am I bitter, yes)

Are you on the Facebook groups that are focused on just reselling frog bikes? I've had good results from putting up a wanted post

the bike club!!

Is this the subscription place? I think I'd rather purchase and re-sell than worry about handing back in whatever state he gets it into while he's learning, but I can 100% see it would be better value once he's a bit more confident.

Another happy Rosemart shopper here! I ordered a photo christmas tree decoration and its great quality, love it, so thank you for sharing the recommendation.

On the subject of recommendations, has anyone any suggestions of reasonably priced art / craft kits for 14yr old dd? She's not a knitter / crocheter, but will give anything else a go. Just looking for something to get her off her bleeding phone 🙄

I bought a beginner’s embroidery kit from this seller that was part of the super seconds sale.
I also bought a children’s kit for DD. I haven’t used them yet but they arrived yesterday, boxed up beautifully and with a handwritten note from the seller. Worth a look!

Definitely try the dedicated Facebook groups.
Also look for Islabike and squish - also good kids bikes. What size are you looking for?
Frog also selling "imperfect" bikes directly on their website - usually a minor paint issue, the will be mechanically sound - so worth looking on their too.

Re: The glass cloths

I ordered some and they came yesterday. The two with pale colours came out well. However, the other pictures I sent had a lot of greenery in them and I have just ended up with three dark green blob- covered cloths that I can’t use as presents.

Choose your pictures more wisely than me! Choose pale colours with good contrast!

Oh that’s disappointing , I did a second order yesterday and have some darker photos in this one , so will see what they come up with . The first order was very clear prints on both items , hence my second order, I wonder if it’s worth going back to them to see if they can reprint . I assumed they would contact you if the photos weren’t good enough to use .

My Protein have a big sale on (started at 9am and the discount declines every hour)

They have some random clothing (in random sizes) but HONEY7 takes another 20% off

Looks like you might be able to get another 15% off by using the App

There is a code on the thread too for referrals

@GeorgiePorge we have the Snoozee sleep clock. It changes colour and from moon to sun for day/night, but also has the actual time in big numbers, so has lasted us longer than the groclock would. The light level is adjustable, and it does have an actual alarm, although we've never set it. Ours is yellow/blue for day/night, but I think newer ones might be blue/red because red light is supposed to be the best for sleep.

Any suggestions for a board game (newer release so they are less likely to have it) as I'm thinking of buying my DF and her family as part of Christmas gift - ages range from GC who are 7-12 7. adult children mid 30s to 40 and DF 60 - TIA

I really like ransom notes for a mixed group. It's super accessible and easy to get going. Its more suited to people who are likely to find a bit of silliness funny but it's not quite as close to the edge as say cards against humanity

nickdrakeslovechild · 09/10/2025 10:16

My fleece lined jumpers have been dispatched. Are these the ones getting cancelled?

Arregaithel · 09/10/2025 10:17

@BeaLola

This is a fun game for all ages; Codenames

I would recommend:
needle felting- quite easy to get the hang of and you can put a bunch of things together with a book for under £20 or get a ready made kit
macrame plant holder kit- they often have them online but lots of sellers post on instagram
fimo make your own jewellery
wood carving kit
lino printing kit- ‘handprinted’ sell good kits
dm me if you want further info? My kids are crafty and taking art and textiles gcse so we have loads of stuff!!

Any suggestions for a nice/smart backpack for my brother in law? Something he can use for work. Thanks in advance.

Houseofsardines · 09/10/2025 10:40
