This post is a work in process and if you have any links you’d like to share or would be good to add then please do let me know. The general consensus for the thread is to share any bargainous links, ideas and/or discount codes or information. No affiliate links (is that the right word?) And any referral links to the separate thread linked below. This is a warm, friendly, kind and cosy corner of mn filled with Christmas cookies and hot chocolate - let’s keep it that way!

If you have any referral links then please post on this thread https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5212180-bargain-referrals-thread-7 and share around the joy/referral perks.

I’m very glad everyone is liking the glasses cloths! I actually emailed the company owner the other day to apologise in case the additional demand had created any issues for them (small company) and the man was lovely and very appreciative of the boost for his small regional business. Nice to shop small and spread the word about economic impact of our shopping!

I had uploaded the wrong photo by mistake and only realised after placing the order, when I emailed them to cancel they were super quick and helpful. Really great service

Thislittlekitten · 08/10/2025 22:23

@NancyCarey Thank you for the glass cloth recommend. I ordered one for DD for her stocking. She’s so hard to find bits for. She will love that picture I’ve ordered.

Hey has anyone got any good stationery gift ideas for 8/9 year old girl

Smiggle have a sale on. I just got my DD of that age a load of bits like scented pens and pencils, a set with a notebook, stickers, pens, ruler, etc, and a pencil case. They also have some lockable diaries, which they seem to love at that age!

I started with an order for a few glasses clothes and then went back to get a personalised charm for a nomination bracelet - they print a photo onto the charm and some lockets with photos in - Dh passed away recently and I used pics of him as gifts for our DDs - the discount code didn’t work but the gifts are perfect and really well priced - less than £10 each. Thanks again for highlighting a company I otherwise wouldn’t have known about

Good advice. I only use miles hot chocolate powder (it’s fucking immense!) in ours so wouldn’t know on flakes!

Edited

Rushing off to Google Miles Hot Chocolate powder!!! Sure I was supposed to be chasing bargains 😂

Evening all
Looking for some recommendations please, on a few presents on my hit list;

  • Nice bubble baths - but not sets than include body wash/scrubs or butters
  • Alarm clocks for toddler/ 4 year olds...something with a nightlight and ideally something that tells them when it's still bed time (not yoto as we have the minis already) *Ant recommendations for a 13 year old boy around the £20 mark.

Many thanks,
And thanks for all the ideas so far...I haven't quietly shopping in the background!

Ive ordered DM some neals yards bubble baths in the prime sale, she really rates them, they're not cheap but nice set of 3.

Another happy Rosemart shopper here! I ordered a photo christmas tree decoration and its great quality, love it, so thank you for sharing the recommendation.

On the subject of recommendations, has anyone any suggestions of reasonably priced art / craft kits for 14yr old dd? She's not a knitter / crocheter, but will give anything else a go. Just looking for something to get her off her bleeding phone 🙄

Sasha07 · 08/10/2025 22:58

Ok... For anyone else wondering...
TREATDAY takes £2.50 off... Which took the sting out of the £4.20 postage!
But I've ordered the 400g hot chocolate for me and the gift pack of 10 sachets (to add to stocking fillers for the niblings!)
Ofcourse, I'm talking about Miles Hot Chocolate. I was sold as soon as I read @FallingIntoAutumn review 😁

agree, Neal's' Yard bubblebaths are so lovely. Often on offer at Waitrose or Amazon

Have you had a look at scrawlrbox? It's a subscription but they also sell previous boxes, sometimes at a discounted price. It's good because they create a small bundle with everything you need to get started, and also add prompts from an artist for inspiration.

My fleece jacket order from Amazon just got cancelled....funnily enough the same are for sale still at a higher price!

Apocketfilledwithposies · 09/10/2025 00:38

I remembered at the final hour that it was day one of the prime offers 🤦 so dashed online and found

Harry Potter Monopoly. (£18ish)
Mousetrap. (£14ish)
Minecraft set of three jigsaws. (£4ish)

Prices are approximate as I was in a rush to get the order through before I headed to bed. If anyone is interested they may still be on offer, I'm not sure if there are different deals changed at midnight or not? 🤔

If anyone has any good other good board game recommendations for a 6 (almost 7) year old I'm all ears. I also bought a bargainous Minecraft Uno from vinted last week but his birthday is right after Xmas so I have double the present buying, budget stretching pressure!

Arthien · 09/10/2025 05:46

Bit of a random one, but I'm looking to buy a refurbished Frog bike as a first bike this Christmas. Has anyone used a supplier who can ship nationally? I'm struggling to find the size/colour I need locally (West mids) and can't justify the price of a brand new one. Thanks!

MaverickSnoopy · 09/10/2025 06:36

M&S have good prices on their Christmas PJs, some are cheaper than TU 20% off. I also had a £10 off £50 spend so got a couple of other bits that I needed.

IlovePond · 09/10/2025 07:10

Re: The glass cloths

I ordered some and they came yesterday. The two with pale colours came out well. However, the other pictures I sent had a lot of greenery in them and I have just ended up with three dark green blob- covered cloths that I can’t use as presents.

Choose your pictures more wisely than me! Choose pale colours with good contrast!

If a card game is suitable then taco cat goat cheese pizza is a good one

@juicyjellybabywhere do you find the mp3/mp4 content for your DS cards? My DS is only 4 and I want to ensure his stories are still relevant to him as he's getting drawn into the tv more with age but I struggle to find anything.

You can purchase audio books and music online where you get the MP3/MP4 files as standard.

I haven't done it for a while as I have a ridiculous amount of content so haven't needed to get anymore, but Amazon used to give you the MP3 files of cd's you bought- worth a little Google as there are many outlets that sell audio books where it's the digital files you download.

I also buy audible content and use Open Audible to convert to MP3 format (although that's a paid for additional program but it wasn't expensive).
